James 2 is referring to justification before men, not God. Your claim of a genuine faith in God is justified before your fellow men by the deeds that you perform, which is why he says “I will show you my faith by my works.”

But we are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
And the customer survey said.

AMEN

You are deliberately ignoring the issue that Jesus is talking about. The "fruits" of a person are like the fruit of a tree. Jesus was making that comparison. Bad tree produces bad fruit while a good tree produces good fruit. True, doctrine is part of the fruit, but also actions play a part. What I was mostly referring to is what comes out of their mouth but to an extent what they do. What is the fruit of a secular minister in the pulpit preaching a sermon? Will it be saved by grace through faith in Jesus or just some nice sounding homily. That would be the fruit that we need to look at. Why the refusal to understand what Jesus was talking about? It is very plain,

Nice THEORY, but it is WRONG!

The Fruit in Matthew chapter 7, that Jesus was talking about IS IN GAL. 5:22-26, and it IS FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT, that every TRUE CHRISTIAN will exhibit in their lives. And Every Phony Christian, will exhibit the OPPOSITE which is listed in GAL. 5:19-21. They are literally lifestyle Characteristics, whether they are GOOD, or BAD.

Galatians 5:22-26 (NASB)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
26 Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.

NOTICE THE PRIMARY FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS LOVE.

Galatians 5:19-21 (NASB)
19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,
20 idolatry, sorcery [.the Greek Word pharmakeia is the very word we transliterated from to get pharmaceuticals from, which Socerers peddled as magic potions, IN OTHER WORDS DRUGS.], enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,
21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Now with those lifestyle Characteristics, one can Examine him or herself to determine whether YOUR FRUIT is GOOD or BAD, and We can after a long period of time, Examine others see what kind of Fruit they are PRODUCING. I caution you, DO NOT MAKE A FRUIT INSPECTOR DECISION TOO SOON. Remember in real life, Fruit Trees do not produce any fruit the first year or two after it SPROUTS. But after a couple years, and all you see is BAD FRUIT, such as DISPUTES, DISSENSIONS, and OUTBURSTS OF ANGER, then you can assume that person has NEVER BEEN BORN AGAIN.

Matthew 7:16 (NASB)
16 "You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?

Matthew 7:20 (NASB)

20 "So then, you will know them by their fruits.

I have to be honest with you TT.

I don't fully agree with the above.

A person can add works or should do works in order to ensure salvation or hope they will be saved by their works.

Aka I do good works and God will love me.
A pitiful life but a real one for many belivers. (you lost me here pal).
Hi Bill, I made sure that I made it clear that Christians will have many works so I am confused about what you disagree with, after that you lost me in your conversation I could not understand most of what you were saying.

Quote from my post: "True born again Christians will have plentiful works for their Savior." (I'm still not sure what I said that you disagree with sorry).

God bless!

I think "Pride" is another characteristic of someone who adds works to the finished work of our Savior. True born again Christians will have plentiful works for their Savior but they take their rightful place as a servant. It is the proud and self-serving worker's for salvation who think Jesus needs a little help saving their souls. Here is an insight from Charles Spurgeon that reveals the motive of the proud self-righteous workers for salvation.

Quote by: Charles Spurgeon
"The Law is for the self-righteous, to humble their pride; the gospel is for the lost, to remove their despair."

God bless!
Pride is the primary sin that was found in Lucifer who fell...I WILL x 7 <--anything that promotes self will equates to sin.....think about that truth for a moment....Pray therefore If God will, I will do this or that....Saul to Jesus, Lord what would you have me do....Pray thy WILL be done on esrth as in heaven....etc...
As a believer we have FREEDOM and FREE WILL to operate WITHIN THE WILL OF God.....not do as we please....!!

For goodness sake stop complaining about the 5 minute rule.
You know the rule so accept it and keep it KISS.
If you can then you do not need more than 5 minutes.

Yes faith produces good works and I also say that good works increases faith.
We may do a good work even we may not want to, but by being obedient it can increase our faith.
Hahahah, I am so glad I no longer see his drivel......either complaining about the 5 minute rule, pushing his subtle works for salvation blend or some Catholic creed over the bible as the rule of faith and practice...........

A pitiful life but a real one for many belivers.

Me being one.

The reality is that for me I had no idea or understanding of what Jesus did for me or accomplished for me.

So the works I did was not out of pride but in the hope that I would get into heaven, be accepted and loved by works.

It wasn't out of pride but seeking love and affirmation.

I held on to the hope of getting in by the fire.

It was only when I realised that God loves me as much as he loves Jesus things started to change.

The truth is that many genuine by believers who come to Jesus have experienced in live that they have to earn Gods love.

Many belivers have been spoon fed with food that contains ingredients crap.
Nothing good for the soul, nothing that helps growth.

This crap is "If you want to be loved, if you want to be saved, accepted and saved then do this"

Pesticides indeed.

For God so loved the world.

We cannot earn his love.

Alas many genuine believers do not get it.
In fact many belivers don't know that Jesus said "God loves them as much as he loves Jesus"

One verse in John.
The issue with salvation is we are saved by grace so no one can boast. To God who sees into our hearts our best works are as filthy rags. Therefore works gets you nothing. We also are all sinners breaking the law of God. Therefore without the free gift of grace allowing the blood of Jesus to cleanse us we are doomed. Thank Jesus for his sacrifice to allow all to have access to salvation through grace in faith of Jesus. All who reject this grace are doomed. It states in Revelation that some of them will ask a mountain to fall on them to keep from facing God at judgement. Too late they see their doom.

There dcon goes again putting words in my mouth I never said. According to James which dcon ignores faith without works is dead. He refuses to acknowledge this portion of scripture. He claims it doesn't mean what it says. I believe all scripture is from God including James 2 and Matthew 7. Jesus points out that by their fruits you shall know them. Fruits in this case are what they say and do.

James 2 NIV

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[d]? 21 Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”[e] and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

James 2 AMPC

14 What is the use (profit), my brethren, for anyone to profess to have faith if he has no [good] works [to show for it]? Can [such] faith save [his soul]?
15 If a brother or sister is poorly clad and lacks food for each day,
16 And one of you says to him, Good-bye! Keep [yourself] warm and well fed, without giving him the necessities for the body, what good does that do?
17 So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).
18 But someone will say [to you then], You [say you] have faith, and I have [good] works. Now you show me your [alleged] faith apart from any [good] works [if you can], and I by [good] works [of obedience] will show you my faith.
19 You believe that God is one; you do well. So do the demons believe and shudder [in terror and horror such as make a man’s hair stand on end and contract the surface of his skin]!
20 Are you willing to be shown [proof], you foolish (unproductive, spiritually deficient) fellow, that faith apart from [good] works is inactive and ineffective and worthless?
21 Was not our forefather Abraham [shown to be] justified (made acceptable to God) by [his] works when he brought to the altar as an offering his [own] son Isaac?
22 You see that [his] faith was cooperating with his works, and [his] faith was completed and reached its supreme expression [when he implemented it] by [good] works.
23 And [so] the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed in (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on) God, and this was accounted to him as righteousness (as conformity to God’s will in thought and deed), and he was called God’s friend.
24 You see that a man is justified (pronounced righteous before God) through what he does and not alone through faith [through works of obedience as well as by what he believes].
25 So also with Rahab the harlot—was she not shown to be justified (pronounced righteous before God) by [good] deeds when she took in the scouts (spies) and sent them away by a different route?
26 For as the human body apart from the spirit is lifeless, so faith apart from [its] works of obedience is also dead.

Matthew 7 NIV Jesus quoted
True and False Prophets
15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Matthew 7 AMPC
15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you dressed as sheep, but inside they are devouring wolves.
16 You will fully recognize them by their fruits. Do people pick grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles?
17 Even so, every healthy (sound) tree bears good fruit [worthy of admiration], but the sickly (decaying, worthless) tree bears bad (worthless) fruit.
18 A good (healthy) tree cannot bear bad (worthless) fruit, nor can a bad (diseased) tree bear [ excellent fruit [worthy of admiration].
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.
20 Therefore, you will fully know them by their fruits.

. . .
Yes that is a FALSE DOCTRINE.

Here is the Proof:

Romans 11:6 (HCSB)
6 Now if by grace, then it is not by works; otherwise grace ceases to be grace.

Romans 4:4-5 (HCSB)
4 Now to the one who works, pay is not considered as a gift, but as something owed.
5 But to the one who does not work, but believes on Him who declares the ungodly to be righteous, his faith is credited for righteousness.

Titus 3:5-8 (HCSB)
5 He saved usnot by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
6 He poured out this ⌊Spirit⌋ on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 so that having been justified by His grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.
8 This saying is trustworthy. I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed God might be careful to devote themselves to good works. These are good and profitable for everyone.

Getting redundant in your post. Expanded out you said keep it keep it simple stupid. Remember I brought KISS to the board. At 73 I sometimes forget what all I was going to post. This board is the only forum with this short of a time limit. Others have a 15 minute rule. This time I went in in time but then my edit wasn't allowed when trying to post it. Why let an edit take place and the afterwards ignore it?
You were allowed to attempt to edit your post before the five minutes was up, but making the corrections took too long, and by the time you went to save your changes, the five minutes was up. That happens to me sometimes, too.

Yes, we witness to OTHERS, by exhibiting GODLY LOVE that HE has poured into our Hearts, Rom.5:5.

Frustrating isn't it. I post on several forums. They all have a 15 minute rule. This site gives my chrome browser on an android tablet fits. It sometimes keeps bouncing around for a bit before I get the place to type lined up in the window of my browser. Oops most of 5 minutes gone.

Hi Magenta, I have run into the five minute rule as well as all of us and yes very frustrating. My solution to the five minute rule is to edit your post before you click, "Post reply." This would be unnecessary to do if they would just increase the five minute rule. Instead you can beat the rule and take as much time as you like by doing your editing "before you post", keep it simple right.

Senioritus too funny :)

Hello TruthTalk :) Yes, proof reading is essential before hitting that Post reply button! Previewing also helps. Another little trick is, if you realize many changes have to be made, copy your post as soon as you go to edit it, and then delete the post completely, and start over by pasting your post into a new message, and then carefully proofread or make the desired changes before sending :)

Excellent works good. I have google drive on my desktop so that I can also paste from forum to drive. I do this a lot when I am active on my blog. And then the final copy is published or "post reply." I like the idea of copy the post and start a "New message" this would give you opportunity to think about canceling a bad post or make multiple posts at the same time. A simple way to beat the 5 minute rule....:)

Question, do you have a website were we can view and enjoy your art work.

God bless!
