If your blood daughter rejected you and went to court and had her name changed and over the years took you to court for many trumped up charges, and spray painted your home and made life miserable, you may very well eventually go to your attorney and write her out of your will.

She is still my blood daughter, she may get nothing fro me, but she is still my daughter,

you could say she had all her worked burned, but she herself was saved, even though as through fire,

Here is one of my 2 favorite hymns. It takes on special meaning when you consider who wrote it and what he did. In that era of sailing ships if the ship was in a storm that was bad they lightened the load by throwing cargo overboard. His cargo was slaves.

Amazing Grace hymn

John Newton (1725-1807):
The Former Slaver & Preacher. John Newton was an Anglican clergyman and former slave ship master. It took him a long time to speak out against the Slave Trade but he had an influence on many young evangelical Christians, particularly William Wilberforce.

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found
T'was blind but now I see

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear
And Grace, my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

Through many dangers, toils and snares
We have already come.
T'was grace that brought us safe thus far
And grace will lead us home,
And grace will lead us home

Amazing grace, Howe Sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found
T'was blind but now I see

Was blind, but now I see.
It's one of my favourites as well.

I never realised he had an effect on Wilberforce.

Here is another one of mine.

A person that is born again starts feeling the tug of good works right away after their experience with the HG. Trees are a little different than people.
So when you placed your faith in Jesus you had good works of the highest level straight away?
Maintained the same level since?

I will do that, thank you. I do it out of love for Jesus and Dude, not for my own selfish gain, and some absurd idea that it will gain me a place in heaven.
I'm sure you won't do it for selfish gain and will do because of your love for Jesus and our brother?
This is what Jesus expects.

VERY TRUE!

1 Corinthians 3:12-15 (HCSB)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] If anyone builds on that foundation with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or straw,
[SUP]13 [/SUP] each one’s work will become obvious, for the day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire; the fire will test the quality of each one’s work.
[SUP]14 [/SUP] If anyone’s work that he has built survives, he will receive a reward.
{SALVATION is not a Reward, it is a Free Gift of GOD.}
[SUP]15 [/SUP] If anyone’s work is burned up, it will be lost, but he will be saved; yet it will be like an escape through fire.

OH HOW THE FALSE DOCTRINE PREACHERS WANT IT TO BE A REWARD,
But they are ROBBING GOD OF THE GLORY FOR HIS FREE GIFT:

Romans 4:3-5 (NRSV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP] For what does the scripture say? "Abraham believed God,
and it was reckoned to him as righteousness."
[SUP]4 [/SUP] Now to one who works, wages are not reckoned as a giftbut as something due.
[SUP]5 [/SUP] But to one who without works trusts Him who justifies the ungodly,
such faith is reckoned as righteousness.

Titus 3:5-7 (NRSV)

[SUP]5 [/SUP] he saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy, through the water of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
[SUP]6 [/SUP] This Spirit he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
[SUP]7 [/SUP] so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Do you think Jesus's life was easy and carefree? Free from burdensome good works such as healing the sick, preaching, counceling the downtrodden, raising the dead, cleaning the temple, going to church, organizing a church, etc., etc., etc.

Jesus wants us to follow him. These are the things he did by example, and we should try to emulate him.

BTW, I do not count good works as burdensome. They are not only a blessing to those that are served, but it is a blessing to me.
So what burden/s did Jesus ask us to give him?

It certainly is not the works he has asked us to do.

I'm glad that good works are not burdensome to you and are a blessing.

That should be the same for all of us.
Amazing to think he trusts us and empowers us to grow and move into Agape.

He did that with Peter, the guy who denied him 3 times.
The guy who cut a soldier's ear off.
The man who asked Jesus if they should call down fire from heaven to destroy the Samaritan village.

No, over time I have seen my activity be strong and not so strong. I went through a time when I almost lost my wife in a car accident and had the opportunity to see how glorious it is to receive service from others in our time of need.

So to maintain a high level of good works like Jesus did, is difficult, but that is when it takes a God to know your heart. No one is counting.

Lol, anyone who rejects his gift, was never adopted by him.

My daughter did not fo any work to be born, her are ts did all the work blood can not be broken, period. Your giving yourself to much credit and to much power, god will not give you his power so you can overtake him

God will not be mocked he does not give his precious gift of eternal life to people who never really had faith in him, those who reject? John said was never of us.

You keep arguing with john, start believing him and stop being against him

The burdens we put on Christ are more of a spiritual burden.
Do you think so?

Maybe that is part of that.

But in context I see it as the burdens that the Pharisees were placing on the Jews concerning law keeping.
Not the 10 commandments but the 613 and everything else they added to it.

This is what Jesus rebuked them for.
You place heavy burdens on people but do not lift one finger to help them.

So I think the religious teachers were bending the law for themselves yet causing the Jews adhere to the law.
"I'm glad I'm not like that sinner comes to mind"

So in a sense it's law keeping that keeps us saved.
It's the yolk of self righteousness.

We know that Jesus fulfilled the law, does that include the 613? I assume so.

We also know that Jesus summed up the law.

LOVE.

Love God and your neighbour.
This is the law written on our hearts.
Yet he takes it further.
Love your enemies.

Love your enemies was not acceptable to the Jews.

Matthew 5:44-48
44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

1 John 5:1-3
Chapter 5
1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

We have the Holy Spirit in us.
It is him who says "Give me the burden of law keeping to be saved and I will give you the law of love which is not a burden"

By this we know we are his disciples.

I hope I make some sense.

Get your facts straight. The Catholic Church was created under Constantine. Prior to that it was the catholic (universal) church. There were divisions of interpretation back then. You ignore the reason for the Apostles Creed doctrinal statement. There were heresies abounding as well as legitimate differences of opinion. The Apostles Creed was created as a doctrinal statement defining the beliefs a Christian MUST HAVE. Doctrinal statements are created as a means of stating a Biblical position taking into consideration all of the scripture on that issue. All denominations make doctrinal statements explaining their view of the Bible with scripture backing them up. You refuse to acknowledge the Biblical import of it. Why. Where is it false in what it says. Refute the content rather than the fact that it exists.
Keep dreaming pal.....Did the actual apostles write it....nope...and you place it above the bible.........

If Constantine crated the RCC, he did not, then the Orthodox Church is actually the RCC!!!!
Perhaps you should break the news to them...

And, perhaps you should actually read some decent Church history..................

a simple formula that legalists refuse to follow- it is fine to point out wrong or sinful behavior, BUT, we should stop short of trying to judge if one is saved or not, because God knows there hearts . we don't.

remember , King David had an affair with a married woman, had her husband killed, and did not confess or ask for forgiveness until confronted . yet, many times God refers to him as a " man after my own heart ". why? God knew his heart.
And sin is not the issue......FAITH is the issue.....one astounding reason salvation is a free eternal gift from God that always alludes the workers for.....the absolute fairness of God......It is not our fault we have a sin nature from Adam.....we had no choice in that matter....God is just and fair.....exactly why salvation is FREE AND GIVEN SIMPLY BY FAITH.

It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that BELIEVE!!

Titus 3:5 He saved us not by works of righteousness which we had done, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration, and by the renewing of the Holy Ghost,

THE RIHTEOUSNEßS OF THE JEWS WAS THROUGH THE LAW.

Deuteronomy 6:24-25 The Lord commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear the Lord our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, as is the case today. And if we are careful to obey all this law before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us, THAT WILL BE OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.”

THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRISTIANS (NEW CREATION/MAN) IS THROUGH FAITH.

Romans 9:30-32 What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, A RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT IS BY FAITH; but ISRAELl, who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it. Why not? Because they pursued it NOT BY FAITH but as if it were by works. THEY stumbled over the “stumbling stone.”

“NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH WE HAD DONE" REFERS TO THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE JEWS WHICH WAS THROUGH THE LAW. (titus 3:5, eph 2:8-9)

PAUL’S QUESTION IS:

Romans 3:31 Do we, then, NULLIFY the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

HE ALSO SAID,

Romans 3:3-4 What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith NULLIFY God’s faithfulness? Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written: “So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.”

GOD PUTS AND WRITES THE LAW IN OUR HEARTS AND MINDS.

Hebrews 8:10 This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Hebrews 10:16 “This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”

...NOT JUST TO THE JEWS WHO WERE CIRCUMCISED IN THE FLESH BUT ALSO TO THOSE WHO WERE CIRCUMCISED IN THE HEART.

Romans 2:28-29 A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man’s praise is not from men, but from God.

AND CHRISTIANS ARE ABLE TO FULFILL AND UPHOLD THE LAW IN THEIR HEARTS AND MINDS BECAUSE OF THE LOVE THAT WAS POURED INTO THEIR HEARTS.

Romans 5:5 And hope does not disappoint us, because GOD HAS POURED OUT HIS LOVE INTO OUR HEARTS by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

AND THERFORE, “LOVE IS THE FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW.”(romans 13:10)

1 John 3:16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.

1 John 5:2-3 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,

2 John 1:6 AND THIS IS LOVE; THAT WE WALK IN OBEDIENCE TO HIS COMMANDS. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you WALK IN LOVE.

1 John 3:18 Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but WITH ACTIONS AND IN TRUTH.

Romans 8:4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be FULLY MET IN US, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.

John 14:15 “IF YOU LOVE ME, YOU WILL OBEY WHAT I COMMAND.”

Luke 6:46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?
