sorry to disagree with you brother, but inadvertant sin is sin nonetheless.

I always think of the guy who tried to steady the ark of the Covenant when the cart hit a rut in the road, and he was zapped dead nonetheless for breaking the Law.
Your point of view is always welcomed and considered my brother. :)

How is inadvertently going 1 MPH over the speed limit sinning? At worse it is simply a minor civil infraction. I'm sure that there are ordinances of man that say that a doctor practicing medicine in a hospital that receives federal funds is required to perform abortion on demand regardless of the trimester of pregnancy. Would you consider it to be a sin if the doctor and nurses refuse to participate in this brutality of ending a human life?
I think the point VCO is making its that sin is sin.

Inadvertently sinning is the same as willfully sinning.

A price needs to paid.

I'm not an O.T. scholar but if memory serves me was there not a price to pay for inadvertent sin?

Amen, there is no such thing as an acceptable sin.
Just a monkey wrench.... :)

Rahab lied about the spies and makes the 11 chapter of Hebrews and lineage of Jesus as one of 4 Gentile women in said lineage....

Zane Clark Hodges (June 15, 1932 – November 23, 2008) was an American pastor, seminary professor, and Bible scholar.

Some of the views he is known for are these:

  • "Free Grace theology," a view that holds that eternal life is received as a free gift only through belief in Jesus Christ for eternal life (a person cannot lose their salvation even by falling away from the faith).
  • "Eternal rewards," a view that various passages in the New Testament are not dealing with eternal salvation but addressing Christians and the opportunity to earn eternal rewards or to caution against their loss.
  • His position in support of the Majority Text.

Somebody like Joel Osteen could learn a lot from this man.

Hi Tourist, it is a civil infraction and why compare "ending a human life" with breaking the speed limit. All sin's are not equal but all sin's are breaking either God's law or man's law. Why not just slow down a we bit and confess you have broken a civil ordinance of the government. Its does not matter if it is a huge sin like murder, but a sin is a sin, confess and move on.

Living Godly Lives in a Pagan Society:
1Peter2:13

13) Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority,
14) or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.
15) For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.

NOW, can you Square that, with these Scriptures:

Romans 6:23 (CSBBible)
[SUP]23 [/SUP] For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 4:3-5 (ESV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP] For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.”
[SUP]4 [/SUP] Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due.
[SUP]5 [/SUP] And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,

Titus 3:5-7 (HCSB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] He saved usnot by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
[SUP]6 [/SUP] He poured out this ⌊Spirit⌋ on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
[SUP]7 [/SUP] so that having been justified by His grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.

I believe that Rahab had a firm understanding about the letter of the law verses the spirit of the law. At times there is a conflict between the two and a choice to be made. She chose the latter and in my opinion made the wise spiritual choice based on the wisdom that she possessed at the time. A true lie is a malicious attempt to deceive irregardless of the harm that it may cause. This was not true in Rahab's case as her deception was not an attempt to deceive or harm but to save the life of the strangers and her family.

Thou shalt not exceed the speed limit. Be still and know that I am God. Although scientists tell us that the world revolves around the sun at a speed of 66,000 miles per hour, and also rotates on its axis at a speed of about 1,037 mph, depending on how close to the equator you are. Considering how fast we are already moving, a paltry 1 km or mile per hour seems negligible :)

Agree with the bolded....concerning the other....

The Law was given unto the Hebrews while in the wilderness, they were fixing to invade the promise land and destroy Jericho...how could she being a Gentile woman have any understanding and or knowledge of the letter of the law?

Timothy 2:14-19 A workman Approved by God

Keep reminding them of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, who have wandered away from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some. Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”

AND I have a question that no one can answer in a way that makes sense.....explain the following....

<---------A
===============> <- direction of the rotation 1037 MPH
-------->B

When I fly to AU it takes 17 hours to fly A
When I fly back from Au it takes 15 hours B

The plane flies at around 580 miles an hour

So.....Why does one way not = 1617 MPH <--Rotation plus plane speed

and

How can I make any ground if the earth is traveling 450 MPH faster than I am flying? Plane speed minus rotation speed

;)

Did Jesus break the Jewish law by healing on the Sabbath?

One day there will certainly be a law passed and put into effect by man that it will be unlawful to buy or sell unless you receive the mark of the beast on your right hand or forehead. Would it be a sin to disobey that law of man?

Even a soldier in the US military has a legal right and moral obligation to disobey an unlawful order. Now, this soldier may still be court-martialed and found guilty, there may indeed be a price to pay yet no sin would have been committed in the eyes of God. It would be an heroic act to disobey an unlawful order knowing full well that there may be a steep price to pay.

Jesus, at his trial, acknowledges that He was equal with God and was God and was in fact a King. All of this was contrary to Jewish law. He was willing to pay the price too yet He was without sin.

Some people are so fearful of breaking the letter of the law that their hearts become harden to the spirit of the law and the true meaning of such law in the first place.

If you inadvertently go 1 MPH or in your case 1KPH over the speed limit and there is a price to pay God can charge your offence to my account. I will gladly and willingly pay the price for such an infraction. :)
