AND James is not talking about SALVATION, that happens at the moment we first believed. He is talking about HOW GOD'S LOVE will manifest itself OUT in the way that we treat others.

WHEN DID WE GET THAT KIND OF LOVE?

I understand the connection between faith and works. *Faith is the root of salvation and works are the fruit. *No fruit at all demonstrates there is no root.

There is a big difference between "works prove a valid faith" and works are required for salvation. A dead faith does not produce works in order to become a living faith, but BECAUSE it's a living faith; just as a dead tree does not produce fruit in order to become a living tree, but BECAUSE it's a living tree.

We are both saying the same concept with different words. Therein lies the problem. Perception of the different words can lead to misunderstandings.

You keep avoiding the issue that while works don't save you faith without works is dead. Works prove that the faith is real. It goes to the saying, "Actions speak louder than words." In this case works speak louder than faith since works proves faith is real.

I am not sure why you make that distinction. Accepting the sacrifice of Jesus causes love for Him. He died a horrible death for us. The Roman cross was designed to be torture in killing a person. Most would last days if in good shape. Jesus died soon since he was kept awake, beaten and scourged with a whip that turned His back into hamburger. That sapped His strength so He died much sooner than normal. Understanding that He knew this ahead of time makes me realize the love He had for us to allow that to happen. Our response after accepting Him and realizing this is love for Him.

That makes it clear to me. I agree with that. I had problems understanding what you posted. I quite often have a problem saying something and people think I am saying something else.
