Romans 1:6

Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:

Under the New Covenant, not all men and women are the called of Jesus Christ. This called should not be confused with the called in Matt 22:14

14For many are called, but few are chosen.

There is a dispensational difference here, for under the Old Covenant Israel as a nation was called, and this is in reference to the nation as the context will tell, just read the passage leading up to that verse and that will be seen..

But in the NT post cross, the called are those that are the called of Jesus Christ, like Saul who became Paul was called in Acts 9:1-6

So when writing His epistles and addressing them as the called, He has his personal experience to verify the calling he has in mind..

The called of Jesus Christ is not for all men, but for those men and women whom Jesus Christ was made sin for, and those whom His righteousness has been reckoned unto their account..

It is a distinct group of people, separated from all other peoples in the world..

It is a call that though it is to a distinct people, its inclusive of both jew and gentile per Rom 9:23-24

23And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

It is the call to whom the eternal inheritance belongeth Heb 9:15

15And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Here are more scriptures pointing out this distinguished group, the called:

1 Cor 1:23-24,26-28

23But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness

24But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Notice " but unto them which are called" in contrast to the stumbling jews and the worldly wise greeks"

But God has chosen ones [ the called] in both groups.

26For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

The called are the same here as the chosen..

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

The called: Rom 8:29-30

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Not all are of the called of Jesus Christ, but only those given to Him for His seed, and they in due time are called into fellowship with Him.. 1 Cor 1:1,2,9

1Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

2Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:

9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

This calling proceeds from the Faithfulness of God unto the chosen race, that seed whom Jesus died for..

Isa 53:10

10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

You have a much better manner of speaking the truth of what is in scripture than myself.
I'm admittedly more direct , even brash.

The truth, as you teiterated, for me is so strikingly obvious from the old into the culmination in the new testament. It's right there. First Jesus, then Paul.

I need to stop being defensive and even offensive in my Exegesis. More genteal like yourself.

Offensive and defensive is a sign of insecurity. Which is silly and wrong when secured by God before he created the world. More like Jesus, less like Paul, as he was at times. 😊🕊️

Again , a blessed and inspired post. Well done.💕✝️

I understand the issue now, you don’t believe we have free will to choose to believe in Christ, hence why you ask loaded questions designed to push your calvinistic narrative.

The Father has given some to Christ and He will not lose any of them. As for everyone else, Christ died for them also. It is not a loss on Jesus’ part when members of the latter group refuse His gift. So the answer to your first question is no.

As for your second question, the answer is not a yes or no answer. Christ provides the opportunity for all mankind to have eternal life. Not everyone accepts His gift. If you don’t accept His gift you don’t have eternal life.
If you must accept something in order to get something it is an action on man's part, which is a work;
The sacrifice of Jesus was an offering to God for God's acceptance, not an offering to man for man's acceptance.

There is no offering of eternal salvation offered to mankind.

Ephesians 4:18They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart.
Did Jesus take time to share the Gospel with those who ultimately put Him on the cross? Did Jesus ask the Father to forgive them? Did Jesus command His disciples to share the Gospel with the whole world? Yes, yes and yes, because everyone can be redeemed in Christ if they ask. It doesn’t get any more basic than that.

  1. OTE="Pilgrimshope, post: 4896482, member: 300996"]you used to think what you did because you hadn’t heard yet , now you are hearing . We all start out somewhere around here

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭

when that’s really all we known and can grasp we’re babes but we belong to Jesus all the same he’s already got us in his arms at this point but as babes do we start to learn from the parent ( his word as you have correctly identified is our teacher through the spirit )

so we start our simple but believing later we mature because we start hearing adult doctrine as we grow in grace peace and knowledge through believing the gospel , this comes more apparent and we start learning about this difference

“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: he is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:46-49‬ ‭KJV‬‬

this is Jesus teaching us gently leading us from rebellion to obedience because we first believe and acknolwedge he indeed is the lord

We learn from him once we first believe and because of this we grow in him eventually we arrive at this reality

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As we come to thy reality that what we do is held to account we can then repent and have it washed away so as to send our sins ahead to be forgiven rather than not repenting and carrying them with us to judgement

it’s wonderful to see your eyes opening up more as your post suggests let wha the happening change your thinking letting it conform your faith and he will lead you in it actually severing the ties within you to sin and death and leading you in righteousness if we’re able to change like your currently are experiencing in our beliefs and conform to what Gods beliefs are which is found in his word , then it’s not gonna be the same old sinner trying to become righteous but it’s Jesus working inside of us to sever the flesh deeds and provide the fruits of the spirit

so very many Christian’s can’t do what your doing right now and let go of what you thought , and instead of holding on to that your letting Gods word become how you think

God bless you as you stand and walk brother[/QUOTE]
Please post the passage wherein we are told those dead in their trespasses and sins are able to understand the teachings of the pure holy spirit.

I await your post.

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my way, saith the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."

All our life is a worship: we must strive to please God. We come with offerings and God accepts them or rejects them. The most desired offering is, of course, ourselves. God wants us to be so faithful that we give ourselves and others to Himself, completely, without looking back at our earthly possessions, social status and earthly goodies that we live behind. Of course, this is a calling for everyone, but not everyone has the heart and mind prepared for such crazy faith.

God prepared His people for the Incarnation (through laws and detailed indications on how to worship, how to maintain a clean faith, uncontaminated by pagan elements, through prophets etc.) and, ironically, those who knew the Bible didn't recognise Him and rejected Him. In fact, there are many situations when people who do not belong to Israel, understand better what Jesus Christ is saying (and believe Him) than those whithin Israel.

Throughout the entire Bible, we notice two things/realities that are mirroring the "Many are called, few are chosen":

1. Few are saved out of a lot (example: Sodomah and Gomorrah, the Flood, few will chose the narrow path in the end of times)
2. The election: God chose Abel, over Cain; He preferred Joseph over his brothers; Jacob over Esau; He chose Abraham to make a covenant with, He chose Mary, the Apostles, John the Baptist etc.; two men will be in the field, one will be taken and the other left; two women will be grinding with a hand mill: one will be taken, and the other left.

The list can go on. I am not finished, but you get the point.

Faith is a gift from God, once you receive it, it's your job to maintain it alive and clean.
We must work to please God and stay saved?

I understand Jesus Christ's promise that
whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. I'm not concerned about theological opinions that have nothing to do with salvation unless those opinions are an attempt to devalue the Gospel.
Your statement is taken from 2 Pet 3:9, in which you are misquoting.

Keeping in context of who Peter is giving this warning to, you have to go back to 2 Pet 1:1, and find that Peter is talking to them that have obtained like precious faith. Peter even includes himself by using the word "us-ward" Peter is warning them that when they commit a sin, they perish=death=separation, so they separate themselves from their fellowship with God, temporary, until they repent

let's put this into a real perspective here.

Jesus Commanded, "GO, Make disciples of all nations, ....Baptizing them, Teaching them to observe all things whatever I commanded you

i don't see the word SOME, Whom I have Chosen, whom was pre-SELECTED. i clearly see the Command to go to ALL NATIONS. that is EVERYONE YOU SEE!

so to cherry pick Paul's words and put them against the Command of GOD in the flesh is as demonic as it gets!
Calling Christians demonic because we hold to Jesus entire Gospel, sustained by Paul, is proof the dead in sin human nature resorts to name calling because their works doctrine is rebuked by the whole of Jesus ministry and example.

Shame on you.

I used to think that God chose those that will go to heaven and He filled them with His Holy Spirit and changed their heart so that they would be acceptable to the Father. I thought that there was nothing that man could do to be saved because God did it all.

John 8: 47 " He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God."
Throughout the whole Bible, communication between God and man is done through the Father's Holy Spirit. Those that hear God's words are those that are called by God and have received His Holy Spirit. That is why in Matt 7: 22 " Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out demons? And in thy name done many wonderful works? " , these people had received the Father's Holy Spirit in order to perform the above mentioned works. But in Matt 7: 21 " Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father, who is in heaven." , the chosen are those that hear the words of the Father through His Holy Spirit and obey. In Matt 7 :23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity. ", iniquity is failure to obey Christ's commandments which is to love God first and everyone else second. When we do everything motivated by love , we are walking in the Spirit and obeying.
Don't stumble on false doctrine.

If you could save yourself when dead in your sins and fallen human nature that is unable to understand the things of the spirit, you have to explain why God was wrong. And Paul was false in that assessment of natural man's inability to understand Jesus Holy Spirit born Good News.

Proceed.

it would not be calling Christians anything of the such. it would however be saying the person or persons to create such a False Doctrine was led by something to do as such. and if they were not led by God to format such a False Idealism, who else would be leading them?

and yet, 11 Verses later, it is clear their original conclusion was incorrect. so, if in 11 more Verses read the answer is provided, but those promoting such idealism's ignore that Verse of clarity, what is their to assume? it's rather obvious. why? everyone reads the entire Chapter. not just the first Verses until the one they like up to that point. so what is creating a Doctrine based upon ignoring the Truth called? what is the action of those promoting the Doctrine called? what's the difference between what they're doing and what Satan did to Eve in the Garden?

The garden is where it began for us to later be made separate from God, born with a sinful fallen human nature unable to discern the leading of the Spirit.

Did those to whom Stephen ministered in Acts 7 understand?

they understood enough to choose to kill him.

but i was always speaking about Ephesians 1:4-13 and John 3:16.

some how this became John 6 to now we're in the Garden.

if there's a connection why people misuse Ephesians 1:4-7 when Verse 13 explains we must HEAR the Gospel and then CHOOSE to BELIEVE like John 3:16 to John 6 and the Garden, please oblige me?

Being born of the Spirit is a separate experience from being indwelt by the Spirit. The human spirit is born dead to God. We must be made alive before we can be indwelt by the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit makes us alive, but it is not automatic. You can't just get "zapped" and be born again. That is an error that started creeping in about 25 years ago. John 1:12 still applies.
