This is a wee off topic but been playing ping pong with my thoughts today. I'm pretty sure I am losing, dangit, lol...

We know no man is good and the heart of Him is deceitful, that any claims to goodness are His.


But if we could be good, so genetically and spiritually good, from the start, where the choice was not made, that it was just who we are, would goodness be as noble? I believe the option to do good or bad, makes our need for Him a must. I also think the choice to seek His Goodness is much more noble than just being good on our own, even if it were possible.


Well, my mind is busy buzzing… Clearly, I have issues and I'm not afraid to share them.

How darest thou use a modern version. Oopseth, wrongeth threadeth! :p

Anyhow, what is going on in Isaiah 45:7? What is the context? Why the mention of God that he creates evil? Therein lies part of the answer at least to that text. Then we have to run over to Job 2:10 and understand that to the best of our ability and Bible understanding as well.

Hahaha how dareth indeed. You know Deade said something about understanding that text in Isaiah 45:7 to understand and interpret properly. I was gonna, but I fluttered off into different thought. Thank you for getting me back on track, Brother. I think it time I go study that as well as see what you are talking about in Job 26:10.

I have pondered the image of God. I think it all points to the character traits of God. I am sure the Jesus said if we have seen Him we have seen the Father refers to these traits. What do we know about them?
  • God is love - most important
  • God does not change
  • God is faithful - true to His word
  • God is merciful
  • God is orderly
  • God is truthful
  • God is powerful
  • God is everywhere
  • God knows everything
  • God is determined - His will be done
Of course these traits speak of potential and they are not inherent in fallen man. When I think of the last trait listed, I think of God confounding the language of man to thwart that determination.

Gen. 11:3-6 "And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do."

We can now look at all the accomplishments of mankind working together and it seems we can do anything. The only thing that seems to hinder us is the evil, self destructive thoughts that lead to war and us killing each other. What drives the evil thoughts? It seems the flesh does with the associated fruits Galatians 5:19-21. Somehow walking in faith, trusting God and denying our flesh builds this godly potential. It is what God expects of His called children. :cool:

AMEN!!! I am so thankful that He makes these things clear so we can discern which one we are honing in on, ourselves, our flesh, or Him, His spirit.
