As Paul said, if we understood all things, and had the greatest faith but had not love, we are nothing. Such a sobering and profound truth to behold. Let's forget doctrines, and Sabbaths and meats and eschatologies and this ism and that movement, what this preacher is doing and what that person has said and let's focus on highest goal for a moment, love. Not that these things aren't important, they all have a varying degree of importance but the most important is love.

I often ponder what true love is, what it looks like day to day, when something is loving, and when something is not. Some much more obvious than others.

I'd like to start with probably my favourite verse in the bible, no verse has effected me more than this one from when I first read it. I shall post the AMP version because I really like how it adds depth to the key words in the scripture.

Please, post up other scriptures that you love about love and what God has shared with you over your walk about what love is and how to love others with His love.

Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end].
1 Corinthians 13:4-8A AMP
“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:2-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us:

and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:16-19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

since it’s a study I thought I’d toss in some scriptures to consider

The Lord has purposed himself to love his people unconditionally.
To meet them where the are but to love them enough not to leave them there.
Love is not known without mercy, and mercy is not known without kindness.
For who are we that the Lord should consider us? For even the angels wonder at this mystery.
Love brings peace to the mind and joy to ones heart. It casts out fear and causes healing.
It comforts a troubled soul it mends the broken hearted.
Love brings grace to the humble but it resist the proud. It gives strength to the weak and binds a strongman.
It tortures the lawless and judges the wicked. It respects not one person but is freely given to all.
It is a gift that was given and a way that we should walk. A kindness to be shared a word to be spoken.

That was a little late with the reaction...

Maybe you should take it back and think about it some more...
