True, but you know that to Orthodox Judaism there is no such thing as a trinity. The Pharisees didn’t believe that a claim to being a son of God was blasphemy because “son of God” doesn’t infer someone is claiming to be God.

Whenever people wanted to stone Jesus they misunderstood what he was saying or they were seizing an opportunity to twist Jesus’ words and lay false charges on him.

Really they just didn’t understand or agree with much Jesus said and he wasn’t going away. Jesus was always teaching and preaching and was so successful he was taking control of Israel. In the present, the words and influence of Jesus are still so powerful that Jesus is arguably the most influential leader in human history on a global scale.
Most influential leader?

More than that!

Revelation.. the book is Jesus' words!

I'm done with you man. God bless.

to Orthodox Judaism there is no such thing as a trinity.

I think it may be possible they have a trinity and don't know it. For example
in the first chapter of Genesis: there is God as himself, God as his spirit, and
God and his voice.

They may have a quad too. For example in the first chapter of Ezekiel,
Jehovah is portrayed as a plurality of four beings.

This is where it get's interesting. I have had the same sort of thinking, because for christianity to be monotheism.. the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.. need to be one being. Not seperate.

The problem I get with having the one being God.. expressed in three manifestations/essences.. is when Jesus talks to the Father.. it's just an 'essence talking to an essence', when each in the Trinity have a distinct persona.

So I come back to agreeing with the traditional view of the Father not being Jesus and the Holy Spirit not being Jesus.

The problem then being- how they are still the one being.

I try and solve that by them all having the same essence in themselves. But then God just becomes an 'essence'

So it goes beyond my comprehension.

The key thing being Jesus has all the attributes and status of being fully God. So does the Father, and the Spirit.
“is when Jesus talks to the Father..”

right he had to become fully one of us which includes being subject to God , it’s an example for Gods children

But honestly brother consider

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: and thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:1, 3-5, 14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Christ is the only place you can see the fullness of the one God manifest before your eyes

all the fullness of the godhead is manifest in Jesus the Christ

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, ( word made flesh ) and of the Holy Ghost:”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭19:5

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:4-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

jesus is God. Not a fellow of God not a relative of God he is the lord the one lord , he is the creator of all things

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that’s Jesus who did that we know because the New Testament makes it clear

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:1, 3, 9-10‬

Many still don’t know him even though he came and made himself known

“Who is the image ( manifestation ) of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: and he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:15

some just don’t understand what God has done so they seperate his body and his spirit as two individuals but that’s like saying your spirit isn’t part of the one you it is the source of you and your body is like the home for your spirit it makes you a living soul just one soul not two

airs really as simple as acknowledging that God said he was going to come and dwell among us , said he would preach the gospel among us and intercede for mankind’s sin and save them from death if they believed and called upon his name

and then He fulfilled what he said he would do when Jesus was born and the time of the gospel occurred

I’m not sure how many Gods anyone else has but I have one who saw me lost in sin , came and introduced himself taught me and died for my sins and then returned to heaven victorious on my behalf he’s never been anything but what he is the one true and only God who’s done it all to save me the father son and Holy Ghost have one name because those three aspects are one God accomplishing salvation

a you may want to go back to believing in a single God that has given his own spirit to believers through faith in his manifestation on earth in the son Jesus Christ

because God isn’t three he’s one and has provided salvation through shedding his blood and giving his spirit birthing children for himself

God is Three, and yet one is not a problem. Only for the finite mind of man. The human intellect cannot comprehend the full Nature of God nor can he ever. The fleshly brain works against God's understanding. Jesus IS God because HE said so, The Holy Spirit is God Because the Word says So God the Father is God because Jesus said so. Not one of them Lied. Therefore all are God yet ONE. Approaching the Eternal Godhead, we must do so reverently and humbly. We are limited and cannot fully know all of God but in the ways, God ordained for man to know him.

1. His creation
2. His word
3. by Relationship.

That is three revelations: 1 . General 2. Special 3. Illumination

That's a good point and worth emphasizing.

For example the wise men are said to worship baby Jesus, but in their minds
he wasn't a deity, rather, he was a monarch born king of the Jews.

Another good example is Abraham. When negotiating for Sarah's gravesite,
he is said to "bow" to the Hittites. The Hebrew word is used more than once
in the Old Testament for worship.

True, but the Old Testament is clear that God doesn’t identify Himself as a man or a son of man. Some things may have been a mystery about the exact nature of God to the Israelites, but there no confusion about God being a man. Hence why when Jesus said he is the Son of God he wasn’t claiming to be God Almighty. All through the gospels Jesus defers his all honor and glory to his Father.

Long story short, people aren’t really understanding who Jesus is and salvation is possibly at stake, I’m not sure.

I won’t leave anyone without the answer, so here it is and people can decide what they’ll do with it.

Numbers 23
19God is not a man, that He should lie,
or a son of man, that He should change His mind.
Does He speak and not act?
Does He promise and not fulfill?

Hosea 11:9
9I will not execute the full fury of My anger;
I will not turn back to destroy Ephraim.
For I am God and not man—
the Holy One among you—
and I will not come in wrath.

John 8:40
40But now you are trying to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham never did such a thing.

Acts 2:22
22Men of Israel, listen to this message: Jesus of Nazareth was a man certified by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did among you through Him, as you yourselves know.

1 Timothy 2:5
5For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus

Matthew 16:27
27For the Son of Man will come in His Father’s glory with His angels, and then He will repay each one according to what he has done.

Luke 18:19
19“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.

John 14:28
28“You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.

The targums quoted below are sacred Jewish writings. Note the position
afforded not The Lord, rather, the Word of The Lord.

T. Deuteronomy 4:7…For what people so great, to whom the Lord is so high
in the Name of the Word of the Lord? But the custom of (other) nations is to
carry their gods upon their shoulders, that they may seem to be nigh them;
but they cannot hear with their ears, (be they nigh or) be they afar off; but
the Word of the Lord sits upon His throne high and lifted up, and hears our
prayer what time we pray before Him and make our petitions.
(Targum Jonathan)

T. Genesis 28:20-21 . . And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, "If the Word of the
Lord will be my support, and will keep me in the way that I go, and will give
me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, so that I come again to my father's
house in peace; then shall the Word of the Lord be my God.
(Targum Onkelos)

Those targums originated quite a few years before John 1:1

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Notice how the son isn’t just the prince ? He’s also the mighty God , the everlasting father , the wonderful counselor “

We’re trying to limit who God is to only one aspect of himself the father and son are one and the same and it’s his spirit

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, ( the son the everlasting father the mighty God the prince of peace ) justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Notice the mighty God , the prince of peace , the wonderful counselor the everlasting father is who the son is, it’s not a bunch of different people it’s saying jesus is all of that God and fsther and prince and brother and spirit and counselor and good shepherd and bread of life our lord and our God ,

When the Bible talks of Christ jesus there are many titles he fulfills not only the one of “the son “ that’s just the fospe when he came to dwell Among us to save us and isn’t showing who he was before or after

“If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

( if we asked Jesus to show us the father he would say the same thing “ why are you asking that you know and have seen me )

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:7-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I ( the son ) and my Father are one.”
‭‭John‬ ‭10:30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus is the same eternal God in heaven who came to be born among us

The son is God who came among us in the gospel

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, And they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:10‬ ‭

That’s jesus speaking from heaven before he was made flesh and born the son . there’s no other God but he the true and only God came to be among us in the son that’s why he was born in the flesh because we are flesh and it was needed for our salvstion to have a perfect intercessor he became that for us

at he son is way more than we know the mighty God , the everlasting father , the prince of peace , the counselor , the atonement sacrifice , the high priest who offers the atonement sacrifice , the scape goat for bearing mans sin , the Passover lamb , the true manna from heaven , the living water , the spirit , the good shepherd , the way and the truth and the life , the great I AM , the light of the world , the bright and morning star , the root and offspring of David , the promised seed of Abraham , the architect and carpenter of creation , the promised messiah , God manifest in the flesh , the glory and image of the invisible God made visible , our friend , our brother , our father , our savior , our redeemer

the Bible says all those things of Jesus throughout because our God has become all we ever needed for salvstion and eternal glory

God made Jesus in his own image.
I know this is just one statement among others, but it is an eternally important one.
Jesus told the mainstream Jewish religious leaders at His time here,

John 8:24
"“I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”

Jesus is God's Son, or God THE Son.
As God, He is infinitely far and above all of the arch angels. In fact, Jesus created them and everything in the universe around us. I'm going to take an educated guess that you were not taught this by your pastor growing up. We're you, by any chance, a Jehovah's witness at some time?

If we allow the three aspects of God listed in post No.122 to be sentient

Yes. Jesus gives eternal life to those who believe in Him.

Who can give eternal life but God?
Amen brother and who can command the sea and wind but he who created them?

whether in this way

“And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Whether he commands the winds to blow mightily and the sea to stand up

“And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭14:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Or speaks to the sea and wind and lays them at rest and peace

“And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?

Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭8:25-27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“for by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: and he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:16-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Who speaks to the dead man and calls him from a grave ? Who takes a dead child by thoer hand and says “ talitha cumi” little girl I say to you arise? And she rises from her death bed ?

who is the lord

“I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God. Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?

I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.”

John 1:1 . . In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God

I think we can safely take "the beginning" to be the opening chapters of
Genesis.

The Greek translated "Word" relates to vocal activity rather than mental.

John 1:3 . . All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing
made that was made.

So then, had not God barked orders in the first chapter of Geneses, the
Earth would be a very lifeless wilderness, i.e. a dead world.

John 1:4 . . In him (that is: in the Word) was life

Now, when I speak, nothing reacts because my voice is just noise. But God's
voice is far more than sound: it's charged with sentient energy. I have no
clue how a voice can be so powerful; but there it is.

Matt 3:9 . .Think not to say within yourselves "We have Abraham to our
father" for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up
children unto Abraham.

Now the thing is: we cannot allow God's voice to be any less divine than
Himself; so:

John 1:1 . . and the Word was God.

Well; of course God's voice is God-- I mean: who else could His voice
possibly be? No; for sure God's voice is Him, just as my voice is me when I
speak and your voice is you when you speak.

Yes. Jesus gives eternal life to those who believe in Him.

Who can give eternal life but God?
This is talking about God, Jesus’ Father, being the one who gives eternal life.

Romans 2
5But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” 7To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.

“True, but the Old Testament is clear that God doesn’t identify Himself as a man or a son of man.”

That verse just says what his name means.

Notice how the son isn’t just the prince ? He’s also the mighty God , the everlasting father , the wonderful counselor “
When was Jesus called mighty God, everlasting father, or wonderful counselor in the New Testament?

He was called the Son of God.

We’re trying to limit who God is to only one aspect of himself the father and son are one and the same and it’s his spirit
We shouldn’t limit God, but also don’t go beyond what is written.

This verse explains how God was manifest in the flesh. Jesus had the Holy Spirit in his physical body.

You added the words in parentheses so that’s your interpretation.

Notice the mighty God , the prince of peace , the wonderful counselor the everlasting father is who the son is, it’s not a bunch of different people it’s saying jesus is all of that God and fsther and prince and brother and spirit and counselor and good shepherd and bread of life our lord and our God ,
Thats just what Jesus’ name means.

When the Bible talks of Christ jesus there are many titles he fulfills not only the one of “the son “ that’s just the fospe when he came to dwell Among us to save us and isn’t showing who he was before or after
I agree, but Jesus is not his Father.

“If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
Jesus did everything he saw the Father do. That’s how we can see who the Father is by watching Jesus.

This is talking about being united, not being the same person.

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, And they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“…his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”

‭“Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:10‬ ‭

That’s jesus speaking from heaven before he was made flesh and born the son . there’s no other God but he the true and only God came to be among us in the son that’s why he was born in the flesh because we are flesh and it was needed for our salvstion to have a perfect intercessor he became that for us
I think that’s God speaking about His eternal existence.

And after all is said and done, despite the meaning of his name(s), Jesus never claimed to be God but rather only ever referred to his Father as God. That’s sola scriptura.

Word is capitalized for a reason. Because it is Jesus.
Koine Greek can use capital letters, but caps would have only been used for proper nouns. If the translators added capital letters to the English translation it was most likely due to their opinions and beliefs.

The word “Word” being capitalized in John 1 isn’t typically a proper noun and it can easily be interpreted to literally refer to God’s spoken words, such as in the case of Genesis 1. That would be a valid interpretation with relevant context.

That being said, the KJV translators were Trinitarian. They translated it based on their beliefs.

sola scriptura? Doesn’t that mean we take what’s written and don’t interpret it away like this

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

if your wanting only scripture you have to accept it so what does this statement say ?

“God was manifest in the flesh,”

Is Jesus God in the flesh or no ?

What if you were Thomas ?

“Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed:

blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
‭‭John‬ ‭20:27-29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus was trying to convince Thomas to believe in him when the Oma’s confessed my lord and my God , why doesn’t Jesus rebuke him like angels and all other men have done when mistaken for God ?

brother Christianity is firmly centered on the absolute eternal divinity of Jesus Christ our Lord and God.

a what if you were Philip ? Asking to see the father ?

If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:7-9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

jesusnos suprises that he didn’t understand he was looking at the father he had walked around with the father for years he knew the father it seems Jesus is taken back at the question after all that he did to show who he is

of you notice brother Jesus rarely just blurts anything oit plainly but is known for his parabolic and consideration provoking language

a Jesus did in fact claim to be God , the rest of the New Testament does infact witness the same like the plainest statement we have

God was manifest in the flesh

of we don’t realize who that is we need to eventually
