Actually the apostles consistent actions in association with water baptism prove that point. (Acts 2:38-41, 8:12-18, 10:44-48, 19:1-6, 22:16) Also, as shared previously, Paul made the point that the name of the one who was crucified for people was to be used in water baptism. (1 Cor. 1:13-15)
@SophieT You disagreed with the referenced post. Do you actually disagree with what is presented in the noted scriptures? I have copied them here for your review:

Acts 2:38-39 (Jewish)
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

Acts 8:12-17 (Samaritans-half jewish-half gentile)
But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Acts 10:44-48 (Gentiles)
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Acts 19:2-6 (Disciples who did not realize they had to water baptized in Jesus name)
He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Acts 22:14-16 (Paul's water baptism)
And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

1 Cor 1:13-15
Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.

What did my post say----- whether you baptise in the name Jesus or the Lord Jesus or in the name of God the father, God the son and God the holy Ghost, both fulfil the standard of baptism Jesus specified.
What scriptures confirm your belief?

The scripture you reference has no bearing on what Jesus said about using a name. And confirmation as seen in all detailed water baptisms recorded. Again, each and every one provides evidence that the name to be used is the Lord Jesus because it is He who was crucified for all mankind.
the truth is you do not believe in the Trinity, so you prefer that people do not bring up any scriptures that illustrate your Oneness Pentecostal errors

you also conveniently ignore Matthew 28:19

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

Jesus said that as He was preparing to leave this world

your little game of hide 'n seek with scripture is outrageous on one hand and almost funny on the other

we are on to you ;)

You have never been able to refute the doctrine of baptismal regeneration since it is a biblical doctrine.
I don't have to prove anything. most folks know that baptismal regeneration is fiction. and here is a short video provided in your KJ version of scripture

people are baptized but according to scripture, that occurs AFTER salvation and is not a requirement for salvation, but as a witness OF salvation in Christ

Your accusation that I ignore what Jesus said in Matthew is unfounded. As I have stated many times, what Jesus told the apostles to do in Matthew 28:19 is what they did. The evidence is in the Word for all to see. The NAME of the Lord Jesus is used in every detailed record of water baptism. (Acts 2:38-41, 8:12-18, 10:44-48, 19:1-6, 22:16)

This scripture does not contradict but rather confirms that a NAME is to be used in baptism. The apostles did what they were told to do. They used the NAME of the Lord Jesus in every detailed record of water baptism. (Acts 2:38-41, 8:12-18, 10:44-48, 19:1-6, 22:16)

If there is no significance in being baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus the Word would include at least 2-3 baptisms being performed using the phrase from the scripture you reference. The biblical record has no such accounts.

Many fail to realize that years after the apostolic era, religious leaders insisted on modifying how water baptisms were to be performed. Unfortunately, many churches are still performing water baptisms as initiated by those religious leaders rather than following the example set by the apostles as recorded in scripture.

zzzzzzzzz

rinse and repeat

you choose to disobey Christ simply because you deny the Trinity

try to be honest

you do not believe there is a Godhead...you believe that Jesus is a manifestation of God and not the Son

that is what is really going on here

@Wansvic Regarding Matthew 28:19 KJV "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" :

It is written:
"But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established." - Matthew 18:16 KJV
--And--
"This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established." - 2 Corinthians 13:1 KJV

You are basically saying "It is the spirit of what Jesus is saying that matters"
SophieT is basically saying "It is the letter of what Jesus is saying that matters"

You are bringing two or three witnesses to support your statement.
SophieT is not.

:)

Love in Jesus,

Please note that my position is not that a person cannot receive the Holy Spirit apart from water baptism.

It is that water baptism in Jesus' Name is the condition for a conditional promise in holy scripture (Acts 2:38-39).

One may indeed be able to receive the promise simply by asking, seeking, and knocking (Luke 11:9-13).

I would say, however, that, according to Acts 2:39, the conditional promise is given to as many as the Lord our God shall call.

(see Romans 8:30).

So, one might need to ask the question, what does walking through the door look like once you have done the knocking?
