Bread Crumbs “Prepared to be Perfected” May 11

Christians are not perfect. However, we are equipped to be perfected through the grace of God. Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid! We must never use our mortality or our fleshly state of vulnerability, even our state of spiritual inefficiency as an excuse for not pursuing righteousness. While I daily need to thank the good Lord for having mercy and extending compassion, I must continually believe that His grace has the ability to furnish my person with the power needed to rise above my failings. So, admitting that I cannot does not mean that God cannot. Just because I do not have the means to a victory in and of myself does not mean that God cannot supply the ability I need to live right. So, no more excuses! No more blaming my current state or status! No more shall we blame the circumstances that surround us or the people God has brought into our lives. No more using my humanity as a license for accepting failure. God has supplied me with the route to victory. Faith in the Finished work of Christ can cause my inabilities to be swept away in His strength. In Him I trust and through Him I shall be changed.

Romans 6:15 - What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The word, “AND” depicts a continuation, and here reveals the result of one’s trust in Christ and His work at the Cross (Through Christ Jesus), as God hears our prayers, answers our prayers, and gives us His peace that passes all understanding while we are awaiting His direction, instruction and perfect will. It is our hearts and minds here mentioned that our faithful Lord desires to keep in His perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3).

The only avenue for all this to be possible is one’s faith and trust again today in the death of Jesus, for it was the shedding of His blood that made our peace with God (Colossians 1:20), and as we continue in THAT FAITH (Romans 12:3, Galatians 2:20), we will find the peace of God in these evil and fearful days we are living in today. One will not have the peace of God because of anything they DO, but through the Lord Jesus Christ! Anyone can believe in Christ if they will accept His Way of forgiveness for their sins. Oh the wondrous cross of Jesus Christ!

Bread Crumbs “Contentment” May 12

Contentment is a settled disposition of the heart and mind that lays claim to the peace of God in a unique way. When a believer knows and believes that he or she is in the designated place chosen by God alone, then desires to be elsewhere begin to crumble. It can take a long time for a Christian to settle down and accept the place in life to which God has called them. Ego bruises the heart and stimulates wayward thinking that attacks the satisfied soul that God desires us to have. Man likes to think that there is always something better right around the corner. Surely there is a place where the grass is greener, the air is clearer, and life’s troubles would not impact us so. But when we venture out of the place and position that God has designated specifically for us, we will find no peace, no joy, no sustained satisfaction. God has far greater plans than what we know in regard to our present state. But until we express satisfaction and contentment in the field of life where God has planted us, we can never grow into something more. Be still my foolish heart and embrace the life that God has given. He knows what is best for me!

Romans 12:3 - For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

The Lord here through the Apostle Paul reminds us that we are to be diligently seeking The Lord (Hebrews 11:6), for it is only IN and THROUGH Him that we find what is true, honest, just, pure, lovely and of a good report which hold the virtue and praise we were called unto (2 Peter 1:3). We are called to think on these things, just as we are here told to do so, and we are also told to think and to speak the same things (1 Corinthians 1:10, Philippians 1:27), and we will be if we are being led by the Holy Spirit.

Today among Christians, there seems to be an attitude of we must find our own avenue to be different from other Christians, and this will always be the case until we all come back to the UNITY OF THE FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST (Ephesians 4:11-15), through which we will find the leading of the Holy Spirit so that our minds can be upon those things they should be as we strive TOGETHER for the faith of the gospel of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:27). Through a surrender to God’s only path, which is His path of Righteousness, through faith in the cross alone, the Church can be in unity, and its Light can be brighter!

Preach The Word!

We live in a world that’s on a downward spiral of immortality and in desperate need of God. When we look around we see the immortality, racism, hatred, perversion, suicide, murder, and so many things that are destroying our fellow man. Many have offered what they may call a resolve, but to no avail. What do we do, what can we offer? The scriptures answer this question, they give us the answers to the wild of fallen humanity, and that answer is Jesus Christ, so we must live for Jesus, and preach Jesus! As Paul would say, we preach Christ and him Crucified.

There’s only one gospel, not 5 different Gospels, but one true Gospel, and that is Who Jesus Christ is, and what he did at Calvary for ALL of humanity. He’s the answer for the drug addict, the answer for the prostitute, the answer for the one who’s heart is filled with hate and racism, Jesus is the answer! And, we must always remember the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, “go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”! The call is simple, the command is clear, Preach!

This true gospel isn’t a black gospel, white gospel, American Gospel, but it’s the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the call is to whosoever will, let him come. We must never limit it, never compromise it, never take away or add to it, but preach it under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Lastly, if it’s the true gospel that is being preached, then it will not be limited to a specific area, but it’s power and effect can and will impact those all over the world! So, my brothers and sisters, as Paul told Timothy, “Preach The Word”!

II Timothy 4:2
Preach the word, be instant in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

Bread Crumbs “Trusting the Lord” May 13

Trust is something we are willing to extend toward those people or things that have proven themselves to be consistent and faithful. When the one we chose to depend upon comes through for us as we had hoped; we are ecstatic with joy and delighted with the outcome. We are elated with the results of this newly found faithful source. In all of my journeys with the Lord these past decades, I have never been disappointed with the outcome of trusting in Him. He has never disappointed me, never failed me, and has done exceedingly abundantly above all I could ever ask or think. He is deserving of my trust, my confidence, my yielding up to Him the care of all that concerns me. I have never been forsaken by Him. I have never been forgotten by Him. So once again today, I approach Him with trepidation, misgivings, nervousness, and tension that is unwarranted. Today I once again give to Him the inconsolable situations of my life and the unsolvable problems that stand before me. I await His grand solution and believe that I will soon rejoice with great triumph when His compassionate faithfulness comes through for me one more time. I choose to trust you, Lord!

Psalm 37:17-18 - For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous. (18) The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Philippians 4:9
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

WOW! The avenue through which the God of peace will be with us is here revealed, which refers to the manifestation of God and His benefits being MANIFEST in our lives (2 Corinthians 4:2). Paul told the Church in Corinth that if they would handle the Word of God properly, there would be a MANIFESTATION of the Truth. When God’s Word is held in its Righteous context, referring to the context of Christ and His Redemptive work at the cross, the benefits of that work will be MANIFEST in our lives.

GOSPEL CONTEXT
GOSPEL EXPERIENCE
GOSPEL EXPRESSION

What had the Church at Philippi learned, received, heard and seen in Paul? They had heard, received, seen and learned the gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified, for it is the only message which allows entrance into and the benefits of the Kingdom of Heaven! God will never leave nor forsake His people (Hebrews 13:5), but know for sure that His people can leave and forsake Him (2 Timothy 2:12, Galatians 1:6, 5:1-4) when their faith is in anything other than His Son, and His work at the cross! Keep looking unto Jesus for it is He who endured the cross for the joy that was set before Him so that we could be saved from our sins and find the peace we need daily!

Bread Crumbs “Righteous Living” May 14

Righteous living is of great benefit to the believer, both now and into eternity. The believer first experiences the righteousness of God at salvation. It is at that moment that God imputes to the believing sinner the righteousness of Christ. A position of righteousness is granted based solely upon the individual's faith in Christ. This position can only be eliminated by the absence of the faith that first established it. Justification is not lost because of a single act of sin. God does not discard us when we fail. Based upon our faith and needful repentance, He continually transforms the believer into the image of Christ through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Righteousness is then both imputed and constantly experienced in the daily life. The believer whose position and condition is being affected through simple faith and the application of God’s grace, learns to walk righteous before God. When this person cries out to God in a time of trouble, God will both hear and answer. No, we do not have to be perfect for God to respond to our need. But the believer’s position of righteousness coupled with the spiritual condition of progressive growth always holds God’s attention. And righteousness is required to make heaven our eternal home!

Psalm 37:39 - But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Philippians 4:10
But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

The Philippians had desired to help the Apostle Paul even when they could not, but even at the end of Paul’s ministry, they once again had trusted the Lord to help them provide for the man carrying the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Always remember that it was Paul the Lord gave the revelation of what actually took place, and what was provided through the death of Jesus Christ, and what THAT means for the Child of God daily. When the Lord is using someone to reveal the cross of Christ to them for the daily victory over sin, and is teaching them the scriptures in THAT Light, the Holy Spirit will lead that person to help support THAT ministry. Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit!

When Abraham met Melchisedec, King of Salem, on the road after the victory he had experienced over five kings, he gave Melchisedec tithes of all he had. Have you ever wondered why he did so? The answer is found in what Melchisedec brought to the meeting (Genesis 14:18-20). He brought the bread and the wine, which pointed ahead to the coming Christ who would give His body and blood for the sins of humanity as the Lamb of God. Abraham gave tithes of all he had because he recognized the minister of Righteousness, the minister who represented and pointed to the Lord Jesus Christ. The same happens today when God’s people recognize and have their faith in Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Liberality in their giving is not a problem, but rather a desire and joy!

Bread Crumbs “Seeking After God” May 15

When it comes to the subject of “blessings” it can be hard to distinguish or recognize one’s true motivation. Everyone wants to be blessed, to be strengthened, to be helped. No one wishes to experience less. We want the increase not the decrease! We want the raise and the promotion not the drop in pay and the demotion! Spiritually we should be believing that God will continue to reveal Himself to us in a greater way; that we will continue to grow and excel in the grace and the knowledge of the Lord. So the difference between loving God and covetousness is revealed in acknowledging our utmost priority. What is it that we are truly pursuing? Be honest with yourself! Then recall to mind the truth that it is God that has asked us to believe that He is able to provide extravagantly for His children, especially those who long for Him with their whole heart. Then we can begin to experience the joy of knowing that while we pursue God with all our heart, He is asking us to believe Him for the increase. It is pleasing to the Lord for you to believe Him for the promise as you press in closer to the One who promised.

2 Corinthians 1:20 - For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Philippians 4:11
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

Paul has learned that within the mission of serving Christ, which is carrying out Christ’s will, there will be seasons where he abounds and seasons where he does not abound in what appears to be needs. Being content with who Christ is, and what Christ has accomplished for us at the cross brings a far greater joy, and overrides any and all appearance of lack, OR abundance of anything in this life. If we take up our cross daily to follow Christ, we will experience the completeness found only In Him (Colossians 2:10).

Paul also reminds Timothy (1 Timothy 6:5-6) that Godliness with contentment is GREAT GAIN, and to withdraw himself from those who are destitute of the Truth, who believe and teach that worldly gain is godliness, or that Godliness is a means of gain. Jesus and what He did on the cross is God’s only Way of All things in which He offers humanity, and all other avenues are only self transformational illusions (1 Corinthians 11:13-15) decorated by the enemy himself. The Child of God’s source of gain is found only in Christ through faith in His work at Calvary! Oh let us see the wonderful riches in which Christ has bestowed upon the poor of this world (James 2:5).

Bread Crumbs “Everlasting Life” May 16

There could be nothing more rewarding than living the abundant life of a Christian. When Jesus promised everlasting life to those around Him it meant far more than simply a quantity or length of life. Everlasting life also deals with a specific quality of life. Everlasting life is a life that is worth living, a life that is worth experiencing, a life that is worth being around for. Nothing can compare to the joy of knowing that our sins are forgiven and forgotten. But that is not the only benefit that comes through maintaining a covenant relationship with Jesus Christ. A covenant by its very nature says that each party involved will give all that they have, their very best, to meet the needs of the other. On my part , I give God my whole heart. And as for Him, everything that God is, everything that God has, and everything that God can do, becomes available to me for all eternity. Life as a Christian is never trouble-free, pain free, or a complete freedom from conflict and emotional distress. At times I fail miserably, even though I hate it. But I know that everything I encounter will be experienced with God forever and always by my side. This is true everlasting life!

John 3:36 - He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
