Bread Crumbs “Praise the Lord” January 18

While we may not be able to choose the circumstances of our lives, we always have the freedom of choice as to how we react to each event. All of us have found out that life is not fair. A Monday morning motorist mistake, an angry encounter with a loved one, a bill that we did not expect nor have the ability to pay; all of these are examples of pressure that might come when we least expect it. These are the many colored situations that can bring oppression and heaviness to the human spirit and soul. It is at times like these that we must turn to faith as the means of escape. We may not be able to eliminate the circumstances but we can do something about the heaviness of heart that they cause. Choosing to praise God instead of pouting is a key to victory. When we feel joyful, it is both easy and appropriate to praise Him! When we are downcast or sad, it is a good time to praise Him! And when we are fiercely opposed or oppressed, it is a great time to praise Him! In sight of it all and even in spite of it all, He is always worthy of our praise!
Isaiah 61:3a - To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness …

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:5
Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

King Lemuel’s mother continues to explain why Kings and Princes should not partake of alcohol, which is because it causes a forgetfulness of the law, and a perversion of judgment of any of the afflicted. The devil is so bold in our day that he knows he can put the word, “Spirit’s” right on the liquor store sign. Most are determined to do what they want to do over and against God’s Word in these last days, and will excuse sin in a heartbeat if it makes them feel good. I can speak from experience especially down this particular road.

Other spirits come into play through alcohol and cause us not to forget in a way that we no longer know what God’s Word says, but in a way that we easily ignore what He has said due to other spirits overpowering us and leading us to a place where our judgment is perverted. Whether we have what we would call a problem with alcohol or not, God sees the usage of it a problem. Those who disagree are subtly deceived thereby. Don’t we know that deception means that I don’t know that I don’t know, but I think I do. Wow! The very result of alcohol! Let us remain sober minded and striving together for the faith of the gospel together (Philippians 1:27).

Your Word for Today

“And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and you shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; you shall keep it a feast by an ordinance forever (Ex. 12:14).

All sinners are justly doomed by God to death. But He loves them as He loved the firstborn; therefore, the Lamb of God has suffered that death. His Precious Blood, that is, His Priceless Life poured out, attests the fact.

The Word of God promises eternal safety to anyone who will seek Salvation in that Atoning Saviour. The Believer in Christ knows, therefore, that he shall never perish; and this knowledge is based on two facts outside of himself, which are:

1. The preciousness of Christ’s Blood to God.

2. The Faithfulness of God to His Own Promise.

Israel was to keep the Passover “for a memorial,” and was to do so “forever.” This referred to the fact that their Salvation, prosperity, freedom, and strength all were derived from “the Blood of the Lamb.” It has not changed for the modern Believer. Everything we are, and I speak of Righteousness, can only be credited to the Shed Blood of the Lamb.

All of this represented the Cross, which means that it must ever be the anchor and the Object of our Faith (Eph. 2:13-18).”

Bread Crumbs “When I Fail” January 19

Thinking you will never fail is unrealistic. Believing that you are able to rise above the dominion of sin and failure is called the good fight of faith. This battle is real and must be embraced by all. What a life changing moment it is when we finally come to the realization that the Cross of Christ opens the door to the only true means of victory, whether we are stumbling or standing. What joy this knowledge brings, what hope, what ecstasy! I know that I have the capacity to stumble. I live with the knowledge that in and of myself I am a man most wretched! But my position in Christ, granted at salvation, has opened the windows of heaven to me. The power and the blessings that can now come my way is nothing short of miraculous. I’m not born-again to sin, I’m born-again to live free from the dominion of sin! Still I know, from time to time, while here on this earth, and existing in this flesh, I will fail. But, I absolutely, positively, refuse to allow my failures to define me. Instead, I will press for the prize of attaining and apprehending the life of holiness that I was born-again to achieve!

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:6
Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.

Giving strong drink to the one who is dying and wine unto those that be of a heavy heart is today equivalent to giving morphine to someone dying to prevent the torture of pain and heaviness of heart in the process. The misery remains there, but through the drugs it is escaped as far as the pain goes, but no one can function under it’s intoxication.
We as God’s people are to be sober minded, which refers to holding onto the Truth of God’s Word (1 Thessalonians 5:6, 8, Titus 2:2-6, 1 Peter 1:13, 5:8), which cannot take place under the influence of alcohol which allow other spirits to hinder the sobriety of the mind. We are to be the example of Christ to all that know us, and although we are not perfect, we are to live our lives above reproach. For someone to see us partaking of alcohol is telling them that it is OK, and for us to know that horrible things happen to those who do, can we honestly say that we are not our brother’s keeper? I think not! There is deliverance to those who are captive to this bondage! The blood of Jesus can deliver those enslaved to this slavery, and cause them to walk in the Light of Christ trusting only in Him and the power of His Holy Spirit without the spirits that come to destroy through alcohol!

Your Word for Today

“Then sang Moses and the Children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spoke, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for He has triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider has He thrown into the sea (Ex. 15:1).

The Red Sea and the Jordan River typify the Death and Resurrection of Christ. The Red Sea pictures death to sin; the Jordan, death to self. The one separates from Egypt; the other, from the wilderness.

Moses began and ended his wilderness life with a song. That of Deuteronomy 32:1-43 is the one referred to in Revelation 15:3. There was no singing in Egypt; there only was groaning. Singing only follows Redemption.

This, the song of Exodus 15, is the oldest song of praise in existence. The greatest poets unite in admiration of its surpassing beauty and sublimity. It is a song of praise; its theme is Jehovah-Jesus; and it praises Him for His destruction of the enemy. It begins with Redemption and ends with Glory. In fact, this is the first of ten songs of praise recorded in the Bible; the last is Revelation 14:3.

“Self” is absent from this song; it is all about Jehovah and His Power to save, all brought about by the death of the Pascal Lamb, which typified Jesus and the price that He would pay at Calvary’s Cross. The Cross alone sponsors Redemption’s song!”

Bread Crumbs “My Exceeding Great Reward” January 20

I would like to declare today that serving God and walking with God brings oh, so many rewards. However, the reward I desire the most should not just revolve around what my God can do for me. My true reward is not just a new job, a new car, another home, or the right spouse. My reward is not limited to a miracle of necessary healing or a supernatural intervention on my behalf. My true reward is Him! Think on that for a moment. The God of all the earth, the Creator of all things, the sustainer of everything, is in a personal relationship with me. He ever watches over that which pertains to me. Anytime I call, He answers. When I cry, He weeps with me. When I go to battle, He fights for me! He has promised to never leave me nor forsake me. He is my companion for life. He is my exceeding (to be better than, or to surpass) great reward (compensation or benefit). Oh that we would realize the simple truth of this awesome fact. Let us leave behind the focus of the temporal and meaningless. And let us grasp hold of the brass ring of eternal relationship and friendship with the living God.

Genesis 15:1 - After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:7
Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

To the one who is perishing and of heavy heart, the medicine in that day was strong drink so the pain would be bearable. The doctors do the same thing today with morphine if there is pain when someone is passing away. These instructions are for Kings and Princes not to partake as it clouds the judgment they are called to make. This is for every child of God to consider because we are all kings and priests in the kingdom of our God (Revelation 1:6, 5:10).

We as God’s people have been crucified to the world and the world unto us (Galatians 6:14), and this means all of the worldly attitudes and ways that are contrary to God’s Word. We live in a time now that even ministers are telling God’s people to drink, but they are also allowing homosexuals to minister in their pulpits in the name of love. The cross of Jesus Christ is the manifestation of God’s love, and that love judged all sin, and the grace of God we have been given not only forgives us of our sins, but also delivers us from our sins and sinful minds. Let us trust in Christ and His Way of the cross and find His victory in our hearts.

People often wonder how to find the Will of God for their lives, and I’ll admit, it’s not that easy. But it starts with asking Him. Take the time you need daily to develop a prayer life and get into His Word. Talk to Him, He’s waiting to talk to you.

Your Word for Today

“And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD showed him a Tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there He made for them a Statute and an Ordinance, and there he proved them (Ex. 15:25).

We find here that God tests faith in order to strengthen and enrich it. This test can come at any time, either before a great victory or after a great victory. Israel journeyed three days in the wilderness and found no water. When water was found, there was an added trial — the water was bitter.

The “bitterness” typifies life’s journey. At times, it’s not a pleasant journey. There is only one answer to the episodes of bitterness that come to every Believer; it is the Cross of Christ. As “bitterness” represented the pitfalls of life, which cannot be escaped, likewise, the “Tree” represents the Cross.

Facing the “bitter waters,” Moses “cried unto the LORD.” That is what every Believer should do. An answer is guaranteed. It is found here in God’s Word. The Lord told Moses to cut down a “Tree” which was growing nearby. It was to be “cast into the waters.” That being done, “the waters were made sweet.”

In this episode, the Lord is telling us that the Cross is the answer to every problem. If the “Tree” would be placed into the vicissitudes of life, we will find that the Lord will turn the bitterness into sweetness. As here enjoined, the answer is the Cross, always the Cross! (I Pet. 2:24-25).”
