The church has been driven way beyond its practical need to participate in the political process to the point that most of the church has been totally given over to daily tracking and announcing political events. Christian character has been abandoned in order to echo the language of a fallen world system. The celebrities of secular talk shows who specialize in politics and world events are sought after by the church and the preachers that God has sent to turn the people back to the Cross are looked upon as a hindrance. The harvest has been put on hold while the church staggers from its political drunk unable to influence the world with the Gospel. You are just like us the world is saying to the church. It is time for the church to awaken and arise from its spiritual slumber and repent and return to its First Love and its zeal for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Bread Crumbs “The Family of Faith” December 23

Christmas time is a magnificent time for most families. But there are many people that suffer through the events of Christmas in the quiet stream of loneliness. There are no joyful get-togethers, no presents to give or open, no hand to clasp, and no neck to hug. If they who are lonely will only become mindful of the true purpose of Christmas, there is a solace for their sadness, there is a balm for their hurt, and an inner joy that can possess both heart and mind. When one accepts Christ as their Lord and Savior, they instantly enter into the magnificent family of God. Every truly born-again man becomes their brother. Every born-again woman is their sister. And around the world throughout the Christmas season true believers look to the heavens and thank God for the gift of life that Jesus Christ brings to all those who claim Him as Lord. This universal family stands hand in hand and heart to heart, no matter where they may physically find themselves. No heart need remain heavy when each sees themselves as a member of this precious family of faith! Merry Christmas, my brother. Merry Christmas, my sister. Let us open the gift of Christ’s undying love extended to each of us, together!

Matthew 1:23 - Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Hebrews 4:10
For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

God created all things by Jesus Christ in SIX literal 24 hour days. He then rested on the SEVENTH day. He also has declared that one thousand years to man is but a day to Him (2 Peter 3:8), and tells us not to be ignorant of that, and all in the context of the end of this age. God rested on the SEVENTH day, pointing to the SEVENTH one thousand year period in which Christ and all His people will rest, rule, and reign for one thousand years on this earth beginning very soon!

Men have worked hard for six thousand years in the attempt to be God or to work their way to God outside of His only place of Work and Rest offered to them. Again, let us say it TODAY while it is TODAY. There is only one place God has established Rest and it is the Rest from HIS WORK which EXCLUSIVELY flows from Jesus and His work on the Cross. If we are not trusting in His work there and there alone, we are not Resting in Him, but can repent today by acknowledging the Truth once again (2 Timothy 2:24-26). Rest in His Finished work, for there is no other Rest in which God will be found!

The devil thought he was really something by God allowing him to have the power of death, but what he didn’t know was that God allowed him to have it because he knew that he would try to use it on Jesus and it would backfire destroying his own kingdom of darkness and death!

ONE OF THE MOST BENEFICIAL STORIES IN THE BIBLE FOR THE CHRISTIAN

Peter becomes hypocritical, which is Sinful, and he led others into that same sinking boat of Sin, but Paul withstood Peter face to face before everyone and reminded him, and all that were there with him, who were found NOT walking upright according to the Truth of the Gospel, that we aren’t justified by works, but by the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ.

NOTE: Peter, during all this was as justified and Righteous as he was before it happened, but his direction and fruit was NOT that which was WALKING upright according to the Truth of the gospel, and God considers that important enough to be confronted.

The reason this is important to God is because when we aren’t WALKING upright according to the Truth of the Gospel, we are not living in victory that points to Christ, and we are robbing our Lord of the glory that belongs to Him alone!

Bread Crumbs “The Greatest Gift” December 24

A major theme in the tradition of Christmas is the giving of a gift. As I look back over the years, I have fond memories of receiving gifts as a child. I recall the excitement of Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. I remember many of the gifts I have received as an adult. But as I have grown older, I have found that my greatest joy is in giving rather than receiving. I love to bring to mind the expression on my children's face when they received something spectacular. I love to see the excitement in the eyes of my grandchildren as they poke and prod the presents that lie under the tree. Even the infants are mesmerized by the activity (even though they would oftentimes rather play with the paper and the box that a gift came in, more so than the gift itself). I know that some would criticize me for celebrating Christmas on December 25. I choose to celebrate the truth that there was a day in which God gave His Son to the world. I open that gift every day! So you see, the greatest gift of all was not placed beneath the tree, but upon a tree. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for the gift of life.

2 Corinthians 9:15 - Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Hebrews 4:11
Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Entering into the Rest of God began the very moment we entered into Christ, which was when we believed upon Him and His work at the Cross for the forgiveness of our sins (Romans 6:3). For us to do the works of God, Jesus said that we must believe upon the One God sent (John 6:28-29), which is believing IN what He did for all at the Cross, or it is another Jesus as the Apostle Paul said some would bear/accept (2 Corinthians 11:4). If one’s faith gets misplaced from the very work of Christ at the Cross for other fads and gimmicks which those who creep in unawares offer our flesh, we are not believing upon the Christ of the Bible, and therefore we for decades have forfeited the very power of the Cross of Christ.

Entering into a place is a continual entering into it, for we do not just go into someone’s home and stand inside the door, but rather are invited to enter further into the home to experience more of the home. We entered into Christ and His Kingdom the moment we were born again through faith in His work on the Cross, but are also offered the experience of an abundant entrance into the everlasting Kingdom of our God IF we continue to make our calling and election sure (2 Peter 1:10-11) in believing (Hebrews 4:3). Our labor is only to believe!! Only believe!

Bread Crumbs “Merry Christmas” December 25

It is my desire that you may be blessed all throughout the year! Be certain to make room in your heart for the Christ child every single day. It is certain that our God is a blessing God, but He did not come just to increase us with worldly goods. His primary reason for the earthly sojourn was to free all of humanity from the grip of sin. He accomplished this by the giving of His most precious life on the cross of Calvary. May this forever be your priority and your ultimate goal in life, that is, to live free from the dominion of the weight and sin that does so easily beset us. The answer for sin can be found in the Cross. The answer for sin is found only in the Cross. Not in a wooden beam! Not in an icon! But faith that rests securely and singularly in the finished work of Jesus Christ at Calvary. Merry Christmas from my house to yours!

Matthew 1:18-21 - Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

The Miracle of God’s Word - Merry Christmas

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The first word of this Scripture is “For” which means “Because”, therefore when we are laboring to enter into the Rest of God, it is BECAUSE we are believing (v. 3), and, believing the Word of God. The Word of God is written, and the Word of God became flesh among us (John 1:14) through the incarnation of Jesus Christ coming into this world through the Virgin Mary. The Word of God is quick, meaning Life giving, and powerful above all things, for the Word of God is God (John 1:1-2).

The Word of God is The Sword of The Spirit (Ephesians 6:17), and is sharper than any two edged sword, and pierces between the soul and the spirit, and the joints and marrow of the bones. Jesus Christ is the Living Word of God and will judge even the secrets/thoughts of men according to the Gospel of the Apostle Paul (Romans 2:16). The Word of God is the exclusive avenue through which our faith came and we were Born Again (Romans 10:17, 1 Peter 1:23). Jesus says the Scriptures are about Him (Luke 24:44-46, John 5:39, Psalm 40:7, Hebrews 10:7). Now look at the context of this Scripture. No one continues to be the Disciple of Jesus without continuing in His Word (John 8:31), and only Disciples enter into His Rest, as the word ‘Disciple’ means learner - learner of God’s Word!

On this day we call Christmas, we should take MORE THAN A MOMENT to look and see what God has given to us as THE GREATEST GIFT we’ve ever been offered!

1 Corinthians 1:30
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Christ was made unto us these four things mentioned in this Scripture, and within these four things is everything and MORE we will ever need throughout all Eternity!

Merry Christmas!

Your Word for Today

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the Angel a multitude of the Heavenly Host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men (Lk. 2:11-14).

Several things happened at the birth of Christ which were literally astounding. Some of them are as follows:

1. Beginning at about the time that Jesus was born and continuing for approximately 33 years, the great war gates of Janus in Rome were closed, signifying that there was no war anywhere in the Roman Empire during this particular time. This is the only time that such a thing happened, at least for such a period of time.

While the Romans may have given the credit for this peaceful situation to many and varied things, the real reason was that the Prince of Peace had come to this Earth in the form of a baby. While He was here, war would come to a standstill. In fact, the Angel had cried, “On Earth peace, good will toward men.” And that’s exactly what happened.

When Jesus gave the Olivet Discourse, He told His Disciples that due to Israel’s rejection of Him, Who Alone is the Prince of Peace, war would then become the mainstay of the Earth, with nation rising against nation, etc. (Mat. 24:6-8). And so it has been, from then until now.

Despite the great advancement of modern technology, the world still has not learned to live in peace, with more people being killed in wars in the Twentieth Century than at any other time in history. That will end when Jesus comes back, which He most definitely will.

2. The birth of Jesus took place at a public inn, crowded with people — so possible of public verification — and not in secret. Never was there such a wondrous birth, for it was God manifest in the flesh (Isa. 9:1-7).

3. When Caesar Augustus ordered a census to be taken, which was really a taxation, he understood not at all that he was fulfilling Bible Prophecy. Probably no one at that time, including Joseph and Mary, understood that this census was ordered of God so as to fulfill not only the prediction of the Forty-ninth Chapter of Genesis, but also that of Micah 5:2, and so secure the birth of the Holy Child at Bethlehem. Thus, God manifested His Wisdom.
Bethlehem was not the home of Mary and Joseph. So they had to go there, which this taxation demanded, because they were of the Tribe of Judah. This would fulfill the Prophecy of Micah that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem.

4. Sinless Angels and not sinful men first praised Him on coming to Earth, and yet the Angels needed no forgiveness.

5. When God manifest in the flesh came to Earth, there was no room for Him there. So much the more wonderful and perfect is the Love that brought Him thither. He began His Life in a manger, ended it on a Cross, and along His ministerial way had not where to lay His Head!

6. His birth was not trumpeted forth in lordly guise to Priests and Princes and the great ones of the Earth, but first of all to obscure shepherds — the lowest caste in society at that time.

7. Jesus was not to become a King and a Saviour. He was born both. He was The Saviour; He was Christ; He was Jehovah.

8. God’s glory in Creation was high; in Revelation, higher; but in Redemption, highest. His Power was seen in Creation; His Righteousness, in Law; but His highest attribute, His Love, in Atonement (Lk. 2:14).

9. His Name was called “Jesus.” The word means “Saviour.” He might have chosen a loftier title, for the highest titles are His, but He passed them all by and selected a Name which speaks of deliverance for a lost world.

10. Jesus was made of a woman under the Law (Gal. 4:4). The fact is emphasized by His circumcision. The Law is mentioned five times in the Second Chapter of Luke, more often than in the rest of the Book, and so confirms the statement in Galatians. To save man, justly doomed to death by the Law, it was necessary that Christ should be born under the Law.

11. The Virgin Mary was not sinless. This is evidenced by Luke 2:21-23 in conjunction with Leviticus 12:1-6.

12. The poverty of Joseph and Mary appears in their lowly offering of two pigeons in sacrifice at the presentation of baby Jesus. The Law stated that they should offer a “lamb,” but, if they didn’t have the financial resources to do such, they could offer two pigeons (Lev. 12:8).

13. When Jesus was born, wise men from the east came and worshipped Him, even though He was only a baby at the time. They also presented Him with gifts. These wise men were more than likely from what we now refer to as “Iraq.”

14. Last of all, it is almost certain that Jesus wasn’t born on December 25. Flocks were out in the pastures in Israel from April through October. Some Bible Scholars believe that Jesus may have been born in October. It doesn’t really matter what day He was born. What matters is that He was, in fact, born. If the Lord had wanted us to know, would have been told the exact day.

Again, I quote the Angels:
"Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men" (Lk. 2:14)

Bread Crumbs “Faith vs Knowledge” December 26

Pursuing a knowledge of the Word of God should be of paramount concern for every believer. We must do our very best to understand the intricate concepts of the Word, though sound doctrine may seem difficult to comprehend at times. We are to strive for wisdom, pray for understanding, and long for revelation or illumination that enables us to grasp and put into practice the doctrines of the Word of God. But there is a danger that comes when understanding or knowledge is gained. That danger is that we run the risk of allowing knowledge to puff us up instead of transforming us. We can become proud and arrogant of what we know, even though it is freely given to us from the Lord. When this happens, self-righteousness will remain a mere short step behind and is very likely to catch up and overtake us. We must place into our minds this truth, that all knowledge lays the groundwork for faith. Faith must be placed in what Christ did and not in what we know. Knowledge does not and must not replace faith. Instead, knowledge paves the way for faith to exist. Knowledge can promote faith, but knowledge does not and must never take the place of faith. Faith alone is the victory!

1 John 5:4 - For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Hebrews 4:13
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Have you recognized that the verse before this one speaks of the ‘Word of God’ and this one refers us to the words, ‘HIS sight’. The Word of God is not only spoken by God (Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4), written by men whom God inspired throughout the ages (2 Peter 1 20-21), but also has become flesh to dwell among us (John 1:14) so that we could behold the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, and so that He could go to the Cross to give His Life for our sins.

We can hide from each other but we cannot hide from God, for all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him who created us. God not only sees what we are thinking, but also why we are thinking what we are thinking, but the good news is that He still loves us in spite of us and has given His Son, The Lord Jesus Christ for us. If we believe and continue to believe upon Him and what He did there at the Cross for us, we can be conformed TODAY a little more into His image. When we begin to learn that the Holy Spirit works within our hearts according to our faith in the work He carried out in Christ at the Cross, we THEN are growing and gaining ground in this victorious race He has set before us!

Some folks shout because everyone else is shouting

Some folks shout because they are getting their way

Some folks shout as they have found the Joy of the Lord as they are found favoring His Righteous cause

PSALM 35:27
Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

The Word Righteous in any form without looking to the Cross of Christ is a lack of knowledge, skill and experience in the usage of The Word, for it is only there that God makes His people servants of His Righteousness - Servants of His prosperity!
