Just about the time that I begin to think that life with Christ could not get better, God does something so stupendous, so marvelous, so outstanding, that He somehow surpasses what I thought could never be surpassed. When I least deserve it, when my consecration has dropped to its lowest ebb, just when my faith seems to have deserted me, God steps in and performs the miraculous. When I find myself dismayed, discouraged, and despondent, God arrives on the scene and provides help that I have not worked for, earned, or deserved. All of this I have experienced, and I must declare that neither the blessings nor the timely deliverance came as a result of something I had done. I do not attribute the blessings of God to my effort, my consecration, or my consistency. To be perfectly honest, God has exhibited compassion and taken pity upon my situations far more times than He has responded to my feeble efforts. I attribute His attentions to the wonder of His grace. Grace that saved me from sin, delivers me from self, and provides for my inadequacies. Grace that is amazing, marvelous, and wondrous in its outstanding reach, width, and depth. I give all the glory to Christ who has kept me by His overflowing Grace.
1 Timothy 1:14 - And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 5:21
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
...
Since we see the Church full of these things, it is quite the alarming statement, and we have done everything we can do walking after the flesh to attempt to change this Bible verse to mean something other. The Cross of Jesus Christ is NOT ONLY HOW we are FORGIVEN, but HOW we are daily DELIVERED from the sin that so easily besets us (Hebrews 12:1). Sin is not what eliminates people from the Kingdom of God, but WHY they are committing these sins, which is a refusal to walk after the Spirit through faith in the Cross of Christ alone!
Walking after the Spirit is to maintain one’s faith in the Cross of Jesus Christ daily (Luke 9:23, Galatians 3:1-3), for there and there alone will the Spirit of Life be found at work (Romans 8:2) keeping us by His power THROUGH FAITH (1 Peter 1:5). It is NOT faith in the Cross of Christ and then faith in ourselves or anything other, but always Faith in the Cross of Christ, or we cannot be His Disciples (Luke 14:27), nor can we bear His fruit. If we are not bearing His fruit, we are bearing the fruit of our own flesh. Keep fighting to maintain your faith in Christ and His work at Calvary!

Because of Christ’s finished work on the Cross, it is easier for God to save and sanctify the believer than it is for Satan to stop it! Let faith arise and accept this statement as truth. Satan is greatly limited as to what he is able to do in the life of a believer. The book of Job teaches us that God's children have a hedge around about them and that Satan is unable to bridge that hedge unless God Himself grants him access. It is God’s plan to save mankind. It is God's will that every person who is saved be conformed into the image of Christ. God works to perform these goals and is usually hindered more by the believer than by any other source. Satan will try to move the believer’s mind into thought processes that are not of God. If he is successful, then the believer himself limits God’s work in his life. But if the believer will trust God and allow Him to work as He desires, there is no situation, failure, or tool of the enemy that is greater than God's grace. He sees those who are broken and works to repair and restore. The believer can rest assured that help is on the way!
Matthew 12:20 - A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.
Galatians 5:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
NOT just because we are Christians will this fruit appear, but when we are walking AFTER THE SPIRIT. Remember why this letter is written and what this letter is dealing with. Christians who were no longer walking after the Spirit (Galatians 1:6, 3:1-3, 5:1-4). The fruit of The Holy Spirit is the result of The Holy Spirit being allowed to work in our lives. He does this based on the NEW COVENANT LAW. Romans 8:2 tells us that The Law of The Spirit of Life “IN CHRIST JESUS” has made us free from The Law of Sin (Sin Nature) and Death.
The Holy Spirit works EXCLUSIVELY within the perimeters of our faith “IN CHRIST JESUS”, which means through faith in His work at the Cross. He is God and God only works IN TRUTH (Psalm 33:4). Praise the Lord! Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6), and only His Cross has brought the liberty and freedom that He told us we would have when we KNOW THE TRUTH (John 8:32). Christianity is far more than just the initial entrance into Christ, but about daily walking IN HIM (Luke 9:23, Colossians 2:6) and expressing Him in love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness and faith!

We can’t deny that we have failed, but we also must never deny the power of the blood of Jesus to forgive, deliver, and restore! Others may hold to our past, but with God, our future is so much more brighter than the ugliness of the past failures! Be healed, and go forward!
Much of the Christian process of sanctification has to do with “putting off” our old lifestyle. To “put off” something means to lay it aside like a garment you no longer desire to wear. It does not indicate the need for a struggle, or even a battle. It would be wrong to think that the believer has the ability in and of himself to change his character, habits, way of reacting, or any other action. Sin is and always shall be greater than the willpower of man. There is only one thing greater than sin and that is the activity of God’s grace moving upon the heart and mind of the new creation man. Grace is always released from heaven as a result of properly placed faith. Our faith must be placed in Christ and His finished work. The ability to put sin off, to lay it aside, to remove oneself from old ways of thinking and living, can only come through the agency of the grace of God. As the believer continually trusts in the fact that Christ’s sacrifice on Calvary has defeated every aspect of sin, the grace of God continually enables us to “put off “our former lifestyle. All by grace through faith!
Colossians 3:8 - But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Galatians 5:23
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Here we see more fruit of the Spirit, or we can also say, the expression of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We have a mission that comes with a requirement to bear His fruit (Luke 12:48, John 15:1-6, Romans 7:4), and it is surely expected of Him. This will take place as the Child of God fights the good fight of Faith, which is a continued trust and dependence upon the Lord through Faith in the Cross of Jesus Christ. When we shift our faith to something other, it is no longer that MEASURE which we received from the Lord (Romans 12:3), but rather a faith God will not honor!
The MEASURE of Faith we have received keeps us sober minded so we will not think more highly of ourselves than we should (Romans 12:3), and will only work if it is continually IN the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the avenue of what the Bible calls “By Grace THROUGH Faith”, and is the only avenue of fruit bearing. There is no Law from heaven against the Fruit of the Spirit, but rather against everything that is not bearing the Fruit of the Spirit! Never leave the Cross and make sure you are sitting under a Pastor who is preaching and teaching God’s Word in the Light of Christ and His work at the Cross, for there alone will the MEASURE of Faith find Grace to keep running the race of victory with much fruit!

The trials that we face as believers are never enjoyable. They are oftentimes designed to reveal to us some aspect of our Christian life that needs to be adjusted. Perhaps we have need of patience, so God places us in a position where we must wait. Perhaps we have need of developing a sensitivity to the needs of others. God places us in a situation where we are the only solution for somebody else's problem. We may be made uncomfortable, unsure, unsatisfied, and we certainly will not enjoy the “many-colored” situation we have just encountered. However, the scripture commands us to approach these situations with joy! Not because the circumstances we find ourselves in brings joy to our heart; far from it! But we can rejoice in knowing that God is changing something that needs to be changed about our character, our heart, our way of thinking, or our way of doing things. And when this simple trip to the reality of our need has accomplished God’s goal and is completed, God will have taken one more giant step towards conforming us into the image of Christ. This is why I can count my current trial as a joy! God is doing something internal for the benefit of my eternity!
James 1:2 - My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
Galatians 5:24
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Here is one of the paramount Scriptures for the Child of God as the Lord reveals to us that walking after the Spirit to be able to avoid the lust of the flesh being fulfilled in our lives, and is dependent upon our faith never leaving the place that our flesh was crucified. The answer is the Cross, and there is no other. There is no other object of Faith which the Lord has given man to be able to express Him. Everything on the earth and in the heavens are being used by God in some way or another, but only His people can be used by Him to bear His fruit of Righteousness unto Holiness (Romans 6:19-22).
I know for centuries this message has been rejected by the very flesh that was bound and looking for the answer for deliverance and growth in the Lord. When the Lord brings a letter such as this letter to the Galatians, to town, or a minister preaching what’s in this letter to town, the people of God better take heed and follow its teaching. Far too long have WE DECIDED which local Church we would PLANT OURSELVES in instead of allowing the Lord to plant us in a local Church where we could flourish at the preaching of the Cross of Jesus Christ using every Chapter and every Verse in God’s Word! Yes, every Word of God is IN RIGHTEOUSNESS (Proverbs 8:8) and His Righteousness (Every Word) is only revealed in the Gospel. Time to allow Him to make the changes desperately needed!

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the Knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience to Christ (II Cor. 10:3-5).
Paul deals here with spiritual warfare, which every Believer must engage more or less.
In the last few years, I have observed all type of ridiculous proposals regarding “spiritual warfare.” Without enumerating them, every last one was of the flesh and, therefore, useless as it regards the situation.
I remember, some years ago, watching a particular Preacher over Television, whom the Lord definitely was using; however, he knew absolutely nothing about the Cross and precious little about the Holy Spirit, at least as it regards spiritual warfare.
Without going into any detail, his claim to victory was being militant against the Devil, which meant screaming at him and conjuring up all type of physical contortions.
Observing that situation, I remember telling one of my associates that our dear brother was in for some hard days. Tragically and regrettably, that’s exactly what happened. He lost his family, his Ministry, perhaps for many reasons, but the major reason was that he was trying to live this life, even as the majority of the modern Church, in all the wrong ways.
What are the “weapons of our warfare”?
First of all, Paul says they aren’t “carnal,” which means they aren’t anything we think up; irrespective as to how religious it might be, the Lord judges such as being “carnal,” which means unacceptable. This takes in the “family curse” theme, “generational curses,” “Purpose Driven Life” doctrine, “Government of Twelve” teaching, “the confession principle,” “Denominationalism,” etc. All of these things are “carnal,” meaning that they were conjured up out of people’s minds, or were generated by “angels of light” (II Cor. 11:13-15).
The weapons of our warfare are Faith in Christ and what He did for us at the Cross, and that exclusively. Of course, that includes the Word of God, which proclaims the Cross as the means by which the Holy Spirit carries out His Work (Rom. 6:1-14; 8:1-2, 11). Once our faith is properly placed in the Finished Work of Christ, the Holy Spirit, Who Alone can carry forth this conflict to total victory, will then work mightily on our behalf. All that is required of us is Faith, but Faith in the proper Object, which must be ever the Cross of Christ (I Cor. 1:17-18; 2:2).
This which I have just stipulated is “mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds,” which is God’s Way. To be sure, the Evil One will try to erect spiritual strongholds of evil in our lives, designed to destroy us, and he succeeds with many Christians. But if we function according to the Word of God, total victory will be ours.

What is the best thing that has ever happened to you? What event in your life means more to you than any other? What situation really turned your life around for the better? What situation did you enter into that, even to this hour, puts a smile on your face or a tear in your eye when you take the time to reflect? Was it the day you met your future spouse? Was it the moment you knew you had found your purpose in life? The time when the “perfect job” became yours? While some people may place these exhilarating events at the top of the list, I have to say that the most important day of my life and the happiest day of my life was the day I surrendered my heart to Jesus Christ. Instantly things began to change for the better. It has not always been easy. It has not always been simple. The path has not always been clear and the road at times has been rocky. But after all this time I can honestly say I would not trade one moment of my relationship with Jesus for any other event I have ever experienced. My relationship with Him is the greatest thing I have ever known! Do you know Him?
1 John 5:12 - He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
Galatians 5:25
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Because we live ONLY in the Spirit, we better be found walking in the Spirit. The exclusive avenue into the Spirit is the born again experience, through faith in The Son of God, Jesus Christ, and His atoning work on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. If the Spirit of Christ dwells in us, WE ARE IN THE SPIRIT (Romans 8:9), and because The Spirit of Life dwells in us, He will do what needs to be done IF WE WALK IN THE SPIRIT, THE SAME WAY WE ENTERED THE SPIRIT (Colossians 2:6). Faith in Christ and His work at Calvary allows us entrance and the very EXPERIENCE AND EXPRESSION of the Life of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Remember that the Spirit of God works according to our faith in Christ Jesus and what He did to deliver us from the Law of Sin and Death (Romans 8:2). Living in the Spirit and walking in the Spirit are two different things of which 90% of the Church know nothing of the latter. We do not fight against sin, the devil, or the world, but rather because they have all been defeated at the Cross, we then realize there is only one fight for the Child of God, and that is to keep their faith and their message in the Cross of Christ! Come back to the Cross, for it is the place we were crucified to the world and the world to us (Galatians 6:14).

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the Apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works (II Cor. 11:13-15).
In these Passages, Paul warns of false leaders. It may be gathered from the statements given by the Apostle that these false apostles were Hebrews (11:22); that they were of commanding presence and gifted with eloquence (10:10); that they were highly cultivated (10:5); that they had attractive personalities, for they had a large following, it seems, in the Church (11:18); and that they announced an “ethical gospel” (11:15).
As stated, these men preached Christ as the Messiah, but the Cross had no meaning to them. So the gospel they preached was not a true Gospel, and would not affect any type of true Biblical results.
I might hurriedly ask the question, “If that yardstick is applied presently, the yardstick of the Cross, where does that leave the modern Church?”
If Christian Television serves as any type of barometer, most Preachers presently fall into the category of these “false apostles,” as described by Paul.
Satan doesn’t try to deny the Gospel, for, in fact, he can’t! Therefore, he seeks to corrupt it and does so by presenting something else, and it doesn’t really matter too much what the “something else” is. In the corrupting of the Gospel, what he presents sounds so right that the Holy Spirit through Paul referred to Satan as an “angel of light.” That means that what he presents looks genuine, sounds genuine, and, of course, is claimed to be genuine.
But always remember the following:
The yardstick always is “The Cross of Christ.” That, and that alone is the measuring line. If Preachers aren’t preaching the Cross regarding Salvation and Sanctification, which refers to the Scriptural fact that the Cross is to be the foundation of all things, then whatever it is they are preaching is not the Gospel. According to II Corinthians 11:15, this means that such Preachers are “Satan’s ministers.”
Paul is actually saying that every single Believer must investigate thoroughly what is being preached by the Preacher they are following!“
