Kerry where is your proof of that one? satan is the accuser of the brethren. To believe in eternal security goes with faith in the Savior who promised eternal life. To disbelieve in eternal security is to deny that Christ is the Savior & reduce Him to chance-giver. Thou shalt not bear false witness.
Perfect! Just perfect.

Abiding in Christ is essential for bringing forth fruit, for it means maintaining fellowship with the Lord Jesus. It has nothing to do with salvation; neither do the words save or salvation occur anywhere in John 15.

What is satan telling you unbelievers to do? Hang out & focus on passages which are not about salvation, then go to pot on them insisting that someone they speak of losing salvation, when neither lose nor salvation occurs?

If you have an evil heart of unbelief, a heart hardened to the gospel, ask the Lord to melt you and mold you. Ask Him to save you & trust Him to do so.

Those who dismiss Christ as SAvior, preferring to make him a mere chance-giver, know nothing of the reality of John 15, abiding in Christ. Yet they want to tell believers it means that Christ is not Savior, but chance-giver. What folly.

I give them eternal life, & they shall never perish.

The gifts & the calling of God are irrevocable.

The overcomer is the believer, and the overcomer's name will never be blotted out of the Book of Life.

Those who are "of us" (of the Body of Christ) continue. The only ones who depart are apostate professors who never believed to begin with; they were never "of us." John 2

The inheritance is incorruptible, undefiled, never fading away, reserved in Heaven for those who are guarded by the power of God.

Now Atwood says abiding in Christ has nothing to do with salvation....what does Jesus say...
John 15:5
[SUP]5 [/SUP]I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

John 15:6
If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Atwood thinks he can be saved without abiding in Christ....But Jesus says without him you can do nothing.....How can you be saved without abiding in Christ Atwood ...scripture says if you abide not in him you will be burned Atwood....

John 15 says nothing about salvation.
If anyone wishes to know about salvation,
He is invited to read passages on that topic.

Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus,
For He shall save His people from their sins.

21 But now apart from the law a righteousness of God hath been manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ unto all them that believe;
for there is no distinction; 23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; 24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 whom God set forth to be a propitiation, through faith, in his blood, to show his righteousness because of the passing over of the sins done aforetime, in the forbearance of God; 26 for the showing, I say, of his righteousness at this present season: that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him that hath faith in Jesus. 27 Where then is the glorying? It is excluded. By what manner of law? of works? Nay: but by a law of faith. 28 We reckon therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yea, of Gentiles also: 30 if so be that God is one, and he shall justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through faith.

31 Do we then make the law of none effect through faith? God forbid: nay, we establish the law.

4:1 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, hath found according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not toward God. 3 For what saith the scripture? And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh, the reward is not reckoned as of grace, but as of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is reckoned for righteousness. 6 Even as David also pronounceth blessing upon the man, unto whom God reckoneth righteousness apart from works, 7 saying,
Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not reckon sin.

Come to Me all you who labor & are heavy laden, . . . & I will GIVE you rest.

I give them eternal life,
And they shall never perish.

It is tragic how someone who has never trusted Christ as Savior, wants to go on about abiding in Christ, as such a one has no possibility of continuous fellowship with the Lord Jesus.

If is tragic how someone who has never trusted Christ as Savior and has no good works, goes on about works saving (contrary to scripture).

It is tragic how someone who has never done anything in his whole life but sin, could go on about how if Christ were His Savior, that would make that man sin!

Let's sing it, belt it out:

Life begins when Jesus comes in,
Bringing joy & gladness within;
Gone sin & sorrow,
& bright each tomorrow,
for life begins when Jesus Comes in.

Jehovah redeems the soul of his servants;
And none of them who take refuge in him shall be condemned.
Ps 52
But as for me, I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God:
I trust in the lovingkindness of God for ever and ever.
I will give thee thanks for ever, because thou hast done it;
1 Thes 5 end:
"And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He Who calls you, Who will also do it.
Col 3
When Christ, who is our life, shall be manifested, then you also with him shall be manifested in glory.
2 Thes 2:16
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,

< 1 Pet 1
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, unto an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

THE OVERCOMER
Revelation 3:5
The one who overcomes will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father… 1 John 5:4-5 For whatsoever is begotten of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. And who is he who overcomes the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall dwell with them, and they shall be his peoples, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God: and he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away. And he that sitteth on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he saith, Write: for these words are faithful and true. And he said unto me, They are come to pass. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He who overcomes shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

< 2 Tim 4:18
The Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will save me unto his heavenly kingdom;

Rm 6:23b
the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 6:37
All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
John 10:28
I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 5:24
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

2 Corinthians 1:22
And who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
Romans 11:29
For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
1 John 5:13
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life.
Philippians 1:6
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

End of Rom 8:
And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose. For whom
he foreknew,
he also foreordained to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren: and whom
he foreordained, them
he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom
he justified, them
he also glorified.

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 3He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things? Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth; who is he that condemneth? It is Christ Jesus that died, yea rather, that was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Even as it is written,
For thy sake we are killed all the day long;
We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Red, you just go on saying things, not in God's Word.

Actually the gospel is quite simple, and if you don't accept it as a child & trust Christ as Savior (supposing HIm a mere chance-giver), you must end in the Lake of Fire.

The Gospel is as simple as this:

Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, & you shall be saved.

To any denying the Savior & making Him a mere chance-giver, repent & put your whole trust in the Savior, depend on Him completely for your eternal destiny
I have NEVER said anything that is not in God's word!! I am reporting errors that have been said against God's word.

You are correct, the gospel is simple, but the gospel does not say to ignore any of words of guidance in other parts of scripture. I repeat, many who preach only about salvation also preach to ignore large parts of scripture saying it does not add to salvation. It is possible to live in a way to be saved while other scriptures are discredited, saved through faith in the parts of scripture they acknowledge, but scripture says it means these people will be least in the kingdom of heaven.

history, never will change, ie there had to be an old covenent/ testament for there to be a new covenent/testament
if it was not for the people of the old and new, it would never, have reached to a collection of 66 books. and these books were put together and went to print, 1500 ad. how many people, of the old testament have read the new testament.
but believed in god. etc and to think, you need to believe in god, for god to save you. (death being conquered)

What you just said above is NOT IN GOD'S WORD -- it is a self-contradictory statement. And anyone who cares (including yourself) can look at what you wrote to see if there is a long posting devoid of scriptural proof -- just your words.

You are correct, the gospel is simple,
Then why as a little child do you not have faith in it?

Sirs, what MUST I DO to be saved?
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, & you shall be saved.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him should NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.

but the gospel does not say to ignore any of words of guidance in other parts of scripture.
Do as I have done. Read the whole Bible & mark all the salvation passages. You will find the simple gospel of salvation by faith/belief alone, repeated over & over. But do not obscure or deny the gospel with passages that are off topic.

It is possible to live in a way to be saved
There is no such thing as living in a way to be saved -- that is salvation by works, contrary to scripture:

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, not of works lest anyone should boast.

One does not live in a way to be saved, one is saved so that one lives God's way by virtue of the transformation into a new nature. Salvation yields living in God's way, not vice versa.

it means these people will be least in the kingdom of heaven.
That statement does not mention the words save, salvation, or Savior. Such passages are not the ones to focus on when one considers salvation and eternal security.

First, any who does not trust Christ as Savior needs to stop writing Him off as chance-giver, and trust Him to do as He promises:

Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for
He shall save His people from their sins.

Once one gets as far as being saved, then you may understand obscure passages & those off topic.

Basis of Security in New Birth, Begotten of God, Abiding Seed

The primary proof of eternal security is in plain passages like "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish." But it may help to consider that salvation starts with a new creation, becoming God's child, begotten to a new birth with a new abiding nature.

if anyone is in Christ he is a new creature, old things have passed away, behold, all has become new. -- The old goes and the new now exists. (see 2 Cor 5:17)

To postulate losing salvation (never in the Bible), you postulate that the new creature that the Christian is could be undone and reversed).

Is it really possible that God should lose a child? Is it possible that having brought forth a child, He would turn around and roast the child forever in the Lake of Fire? If his child strays, will He not go after that child as after a lost sheep, putting him on His shoulders and carry Him back to the fold?

I think what drives a lot of the error is the idea that salvation is only some award that follows a future judgment, instead of old things passing away & all becoming new, being begotten by God, getting a new nature, becoming a child of God right now in this life upon belief in the Son of God.
Now is the day of salvation.

In fact the very concept of salvation is lost by many. Salvation is a Savior having mercy on the wretched sinner who cries out, "God be merciful to me a sinner" and trusts the Savior. Salvation is not an award for good works, which would be validation rather than salvation. Salvation is God giving sinners help out of their sinfulness.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for

He shall save His people from their sins.

And that salvation starts with a new birth:

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 unto an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." - 1 Pet 1

This helps us understand 1 John as speaking of a new nature God gives the believer, which nature cannot & never sins (though the believer retains his old man flesh, which can spring into action):
If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that everyone also who does righteousness is begotten of him.

3:1 "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. For this cause the world knows us not, because it knew him not. 2 Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is. "

"9 Whosoever is begotten of God does no sin, because his seed abides [it is never lost!] in him: and he cannot sin, because he is begotten of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil:"

"7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone who loves is begotten of God and knows God."

"5:1 Whosoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is begotten of God: and whosoever loves him that begat loves him also that is begotten of him. 2 Hereby we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous. 4 For whatsoever is begotten of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 And who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes . . . ."

"18 We know that whosoever is begotten of God sins not;
but he who was begotten of God keeps himself
[the new nature stays unchangeable in righteousness],
and the evil one touches him not."

Again Atwood is boldly denying salvation is in Christ ...Atwood thinks one can believe Christ without obeying him...so what does Atwood really believe... Does Atwood know the meaning of the word Lord? Will Atwood obey Christ as Lord or will he continue to disobey ?
Scripture says salvation is in Christ
2 Timothy 2:10
Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

Atwood say there is nothing about salvation in John 15...Here Jesus is saying we cannot do anything without abiding in him...How is Atwood saved if he is not abiding in Christ ? Does Atwood have his own way of salvation? Look carefully at vs 6 because Atwood thinks abiding in Christ has nothing to do with our salvation. Atwood cannot accept these scriptures because it refutes OSAS....

Where the disagreement between us and between you and scripture lies is twofold. First, you are looking for ways to tell me you know more than I do, and second your are reading things in to what I say that aren't there in my mind, only in yours.

I have highlighted what I say and what you say. The things we agree on. Truths your post and my post have said. It is through the blood of Christ and through faith in that blood we are saved. You repeat this and I repeat this.

I add, and what you are objecting to, is that now we are new in Christ, now we will live with the Lord forever, there is more to learn. PLEASE hear this. Now, as saved people lets be great in the kingdom of heaven. Let us take the next step. If we have faith in the blood for salvation, honestly if you will take that same faith and read scripture further with faith in it, you can find the guidelines to greatness.

Some people think we are saved at the cross but from there it is all up to us, forgetting that the good work God began he will complete unto that Day.
A picture of taking the reins out of God's hands and taking control...a control that is impossible.

For thy sake we are killed all the day long;
We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
.

Isn't it ironic, your phrase, "Trust in Christ as Savior" that you like to beat everyone over the head with is NOT what they were told to,do in the NT for salvation. Look at the conversions in Acts and you won't find one who was told to do,that. It's a man made phrase taken from a man made doctrine.

My faith has found a resting place,
Not in device or creed;
I trust the everliving one,
His wounds for me shall plead;
I need no other argument,
I need no other plea;
It is enough that Jesus died,
& that He died for me.

Alligator, it appears that you don't understand what saving faith is. Saving faith is not believing THAT Jesus is the Son of God -- satan does that, so do the demons.

It is trust in the Savior which saves, meaning of pisteuo/pistis, Greek words for believe/faith.

Vine's Expository Dictionary on Pisteuo:

1. pisteuo (πιστεύω, “to believe,” also “to be persuaded of,” and hence, “to place confidence in, to trust, signifies, in this sense of the word, reliance upon, not mere credence.

Vine's on Pistis:

FAITH
pistis . . .
The word is used of (a) trust, e.g., Rom. 3:25 [see Note (4) below]; 1 Cor. 2:5; 15:14, 17; 2 Cor. 1:24; Gal. 3:23 [see Note (5) below]; Phil. 1:25; 2:17; 1 Thess. 3:2; 2 Thess. 1:3; 3:2; (b) trust-worthiness, e.g., Matt. 23:23; Rom. 3:3, rv, “the faithfulness of God”; Gal. 5:22 (rv, “faithfulness”); Titus 2:10, “fidelity”; (c) by metonymy, what is believed, the contents of belief, the “faith,” Acts 6:7; 14:22; Gal. 1:23; 3:25 [contrast 3:23, under (a)]; 6:10; Phil. 1:27; 1 Thess. 3:10; Jude 3, 20 (and perhaps 2 Thess. 3:2); (d) a ground for “faith,” an assurance, Acts 17:31 (not as in kjv, marg., “offered faith”); (e) a pledge of fidelity, plighted “faith,” 1 Tim. 5:12.

BDAG Lexicon for Pisteuō:

"to entrust oneself to an entity in complete confidence, believe (in), trust, w. implication of total commitment to the one who is trusted. In our lit. God and Christ are objects of this type of faith that relies on their power and nearness to help, in addition to being convinced that their revelations or disclosures are true."

Pistis:

state of believing on the basis of the reliability of the one trusted, trust, confidence, faith in the active sense=‘believing’, in ref. to deity . . .
a. God: πίστις θεοῦ (cp. Jos., Ant. 17, 179.—Cp. π. καὶ φόβος ὁ τοῦ θεοῦ Theoph. Ant. 1, 7 [p. 72, 26]) faith, trust, confidence in God Mk 11:22; cp. Ac 19:20 D; . . .
b. Christ
α. of belief and trust in the Lord’s help in physical and spiritual distress; oft. in the synopt. gospels: Mt 8:10; 9:2, 22, 29 (κατὰ τὴν πίστιν ὑμῶν); 15:28; Mk 2:5; 4:40; 5:34; 10:52; Lk 5:20; 7:9, 50; 8:25, 48; 17:19; 18:42.—Cp. ἔχει πίστιν τοῦ σωθῆναι (the lame man) had faith that he would be cured Ac 14:9.

I urge anyone who has reduced the Savior to a mere chance-giver, and anyone who has a mere factual faith (belief that Jesus is the Son of God without dependence on Him) to actually trust Him as SAvior today. NOw is the day of salvation.

Some people think we are saved at the cross but from there it is all up to us, forgetting that the good work God began he will complete unto that Day.
A picture of taking the reins out of God's hands and taking control...a control that is impossible.
reins? God did not say he was going to make us puppets...He gave us power to become sons...some take that power and become sons some are lazy and do nothing...
John 1:11-13King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]11 [/SUP]He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

[SUP]12 [/SUP]But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

[SUP]13 [/SUP]Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God

2 Timothy 2:10
Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

So Paul endures great suffering for the elect. Paul believes that God has chosen certain men, but they have not yet trusted Christ as Savior. The hearing of the gospel & their belief is part of the process.

2 Tim 2 uses a figure of speech, "in Christ Jesus," which may mean no more that he is the source of salvation. 2 Tim is not speaking about being PUT in Christ Jesus, but the source of salvation. Neither is 2 Tim speaking about fellowship with Christ Jesus in the Christian life. But we do know that in fact Christians are put in the Body of Christ (another figure of speech) when they trust Him as Savior.

Indeed as Romans 5 tells us, it is our connection to Adam that made up sinner & our connection to Christ which makes us righteous. The believer in the Lord Jesus is put "in Christ." The Lord considers us as Christ; we are part of His body. Note that This being in Christ carries with it Eternal Glory -- thus it implies our eternal glory & eternal security. The glory is eternal, not fading away (1 Peter the inheritance fades not away). And the topic of 2 Timothy 2:10 is indeed salvation.

But in John 15, the topic is not salvation -- there is nothing there about anyone trusting Christ and getting saved. Neither save nor salvation occurs in John 15. To abide in (fellowship with) Christ is a different concept, used where salvation is not in context. The use in John 15 & 2 Timothy are not the same usage.

En is a Greek preposition with different meanings in different contexts.

BDAG Lexicon on en:

to designate a close personal relation in which the referent of the ἐν-term is viewed as the controlling influence: under the control of, under the influence of, in close association with (cp. ἐν τῷ Δαυιδ εἰμί 2 Km 19:44): of Christ εἶναι, μένειν ἐν τῷ πατρί (ἐν τῷ θεῷ) J 10:38; 14:10f ; and of Christians 1J 3:24; 4:13, 15f; be or abide in Christ J 14:20; 15:4f; μένειν ἐν τῷ υἱῷ καὶ ἐν τῷ πατρί 1J 2:24. ἔργα ἐν θεῷ εἰργασμένα done in communion with God J 3:21.

One can go into & out of fellowship with Christ, one can obey Him or disobey Him in the daily life; but this is not popping in & out of the Body of Christ, not being a child of God one minute & the next not, then back being a child of God.

You must take a passage like John 15 which says nothing about salvation and understand it in the light of passages which do speak of salvation. These tell us clearly that the believer never perishes, but has ever lasting life. They tell us that the believer in Christ has no condemnation. But Christ guarantees to save them from their sins.

John 15 does not speak of salvation. And it seems typical how those who want to deny the Savior, making Him a mere chance-giver, go on & on arguing over passages that are not about salvation -- the word is absent.

Luke 6:46-49

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:

He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Those who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and hear and do what He says has a firm foundation in their faith.
Those who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and hear but do not do what He says does not have a firm foundation of faith.

People go on about "accepting Jesus." But the Bible doesn't say "Accept Jesus" to be saved.

the closest I know of that it comes to that is John 1:1:12:

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:12 says "received," further defined as believe.
"Receive" is Biblically a rare term. The usual term is believe/faith.

Rev 3 says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock" thus receiving Him in to one's "house" might be considered saving, and near to "accepting."

But since "accept" is not actually used, and since I when unsaved church member used such language, I don't advice presenting the gospel in terms of "accepting Christ."

The primary terms are believe/have faith. Thus it is best to use those terms.

At any rate, accepting some facts as true (like "Jesus is the Son of God") saves no one. We must depend upon our Savior.

The only MUST I DO is believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (& thou shalt be saved).

INteresting how one starts out presenting the truth of eternal security, how that is an essential part of the definition of salvation, but after presenting the overwhelming evidence, persons come along not content with denying eternal security, but they wish to argue salvation by works & deny that believing in Christ is sufficient on man's part -- they want to add human works (ground for boasting in Eph 2). And they want to focus on passages that don't speak of salvation at all and claim that such passages mean "lose salvation," though those 2 words never even occur in the same verse in the Bible.

Those who have dismissed the Savior, redefining Christ as mere chance-giver, need to thrown themselves completely on the Savior, believe that He gives eternal life, and depend on Him for a transformation with the gift of eternal life.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for
He shall save His people from their sins.

Tho by sin oppressed,
Go to Him for rest,
Our God is able to deliver Thee.
