I'm curious what percent of the current population would be saved?
That's difficult to ascertain because although everyone alive right now was
born a sinner, it's possible that not everyone right now is a guilty sinner.
Apparently children's sins don't go in the books till they reach something
called an age of accountability. I don't know whether that's true but certain
passages sort of imply it, e.g. 2Sam 12:23, Jonah 4:11, and Matt 18:3
If we arbitrarily assign the age of accountability here in the USA to be 18,
then it's not too difficult to figure out the percentage of my country's
population that could be saved were everyone wiped out this very day by a
super duper king size Carrington Event.
According to the US Census Bureau: as of Oct 10, 2024 @ 08:17 pm New
York time, the resident population in the United States was approximately
337,247,452
According to 2020 US Census data; roughly 77.9% of America's population
was over the age of 18, which if applied to the USA's current population
would amount to 262,715,765 adults.
Jesus said that the majority has not been making it to safety when they
cross over to the other side. So a simple minority of 49% of the
262,715,765 amounts to 128,730,725 and when we throw in all the
underage kids, the grand total is 203,262,412 which is like 60% of the USA's
current population.
That's a pretty conservative estimate because Jesus didn't give us an exact
percentage number to represent the majority that ends up lost.
