Not for you or PS, because you can't seem to understand the implication and that is not my doing. But the Bible says that the "LAW" is Spiritual. Do you believe this applies to the Law and Prophets? Given Jesus' explanation of scriptures I do. This fits perfectly with 1 Cor. 10 is the declaration that the OT was written for our examples.
"11 Now all these things
happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come."
And these examples are spiritual in nature and the Apostles understood this.
2 Cor. 10:
3 For though we walk in the flesh,
we do not war after the flesh:4 (For the weapons of our warfare
are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds
5 Casting down
imaginations, and
every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity
every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
The Bible is God's Word which prepares us for this life. But it isn't about killing people, it's about controlling our thoughts.
16 All scripture
is given by inspiration of God, and
is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the
man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Our enemy is not from outside.
Mark 7:
20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
21 For from within,
out of the heart of men, (Our mind) proceed
evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23
All these evil things come from within,
and defile the man.
Every story in the Examples the Word which became Flesh created for our admonition has a spiritual implication to help us in our thoughts. To get our mind right.
Eph. 4:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be
renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is
created in righteousness and true holiness.
Col. 3:
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have
put off the
old man with his deeds;
10 And have
put on the new man, which is
renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
So if a person believes in this Jesus, and understands the reason for the writing of the OT, It helps to understand it.
The Nations and the enemies of the Lord are wicked thoughts in our minds. We are told from the very beginning to "rule over them".
And if they won't abide by your rule, then destroy them, every last stick, residue, association etc.
We are to utterly destroy that which can defile us and come into the land of perfection. "Be ye perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect". And there are stories which will help us with every possible event which takes place in our lives.
You have heard it said from many on this forum that no one can be perfect. And that those who strive for the "High Calling of Jesus" are trying to "earn Salvation", they have "Fallen from Grace" and are attempting the impossible. But Jesus knew these guys would be on this forum so he prepared an example for me to be admonished by.
Num. 13:
27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us,(Obedience) and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this
is the fruit of it. (The Law is Good, Just and Holy)
28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, (our Carnal mind) and the cities
are walled,
and very great: and moreover we saw the
children of Anak there. (Great Religious traditions)
29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, (Evil thoughts) and the Jebusites,(wicked thoughts) and the Amorites,
dwell in the mountainsChurches) and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.
God has already told them, as He did Cain, to rule over this land.
30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once,
and possess it;
for we are well able to overcome it.
Here is the Faithful man who "believes" in the one Whom God sent, the Word which became Flesh.
31 But the men that went up with him said, We be
not able to go up against the people;
for they are stronger than we.
Num. 14:6 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh,
which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:
7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it,
is an exceeding good land. (Take My Yoke and learn from ME)
8 If the LORD delight in us, then
he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.
9 Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land;(Our wicked thoughts) for they
are bread for us: (Proof of God's Truth) their defence is departed from them, (Resist the devil and it will flee)
and the LORD is with us: fear them not.
10 But
all the congregation bade stone them with stones. (To silence the rule) And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.
I know you can't deal with long posts, so this isn't really for you as I have tried to make this point before and you completely ignored.
But for those others which may be reading, can you see how Jesus applied the OT to His Life? Not killing the carnal enemy from without, but killing completely, utterly destroying man woman and child of the enemy from within.
Once a person "believes in this Word which became Flesh" this understanding will be given. But there is no other way.
John 14:
15 If ye love me,
keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth;
whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
