PART 1/2 The Word of Website come tumbling down...

Amen brother! I was reading through this article below from the "EX-Adventist Outreach" that you had previously posted. Very interesting!
Hello MMD, how can you know the Word’ of God when you only point all to the words of website?

Ok let’s have a detailed look at your website that has a self-proclaimed title saying NEW LIGHT on the ceremonial Sabbath and COLOAAIANS 2:16. Although having a look it all the scriptures and content it is just the same shallow arguments that lack scripture, context and a knowledge of the Old Covenant laws and how they connect to the New Covenant and NEW Testament scriptures.

Let’s see why……….

NEW LIGHT ON CEREMONIAL SABBATHS AND COLOSSIANS 2:16

An unbiased reading of Colossians 2:16 will show that this is talking about not just "ceremonial Sabbaths." The words "ton sabbaton" or "sabbath days"; are the same words translated "Sabbath day" in Exodus 20:8 in the Septuagint (the Jewish translation of the Old Testament into Greek).
Always within chapter and within scripture CONTEXT must be considered when looking at any prayerful interpretation relating to God’s Word in this case we are discussing Colossians 2:16

Colossians 2
16, Let no man therefore judge you in meat,6 or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Strong's Exhaustive Concordance 4521. sabbaton ; σάββατον ; sabbaton; sab'-bat-on
Of Hebrew origin [H7676]; the Sabbath (that is, Shabbath), or day of weekly repose from secular avocations (also the observance or institution itself); by extension a se'nnight, that is, the interval between two Sabbaths; likewise the plural in all the above applications: - sabbath (day), week.

The use of the word sabbaton translated from the Hebrew for Sabbath can be applied to a number of different meaning and interpretation of the scriptures depending on the within CONTEXT of the scripture combined with the within CONTEXT of the Chapter.

In this case the within Chapter context in the chapter is the Mosaic ceremonial laws for remission of sins written in the book of Moses

Colossians 2
14, Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

(1) CONTEXT of COL 2:16 is v14. is talking about the Mosaic laws for remission of sin that were shadows pointing to Jesus; not the ten commandments of God’s Law. Nowhere are the 10 commandments mentioned in Col chapter 2.

v11-13 Shadows of Mosaic laws of circumcision of the new heart in Christ

14, BLOTTING OUT < G1813 ἐξαλείφω exaleipho (ex-a-lei'-fō) v.means to rub out, i.e. obliterate, erase>the HANDWRITING < G5498 χειρόγραφον cheirographon (chei-ro'-gra-fon) n.means something hand-written (“chirograph”), i.e. a manuscript specially, a legal document > of ORDINANCES < G1378 δόγμα dogma (d̮og'-ma) n. means ordinance; civil, ceremonial or ecclesiastical>that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

v20, Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, v21, Touch not; taste not; handle not; v22, Which all are to perish with the using; after the commandments and doctrines of men

CONTEXT of the chapter is the CEREMONIAL Mosaic laws for remission of sin that are shadows pointing to Jesus and nailed to the cross with our sins. This is further highlighted that at the death of Jesus the temple vail was torn in two meaning the END of the Mosaic ceremonial laws for remission of SINS as these were fulfilled in Christ (Matthew 27:51).

Further proof that Col 2:16 is talking about the annual Jewish festivals and Mosaic laws for remission of sin? Let’s look at the subject matter of v16

(2) SUBJECT MATTER OF v16 is (1) meat, or in drink, or in (2) respect of an holyday, or of the (3) new moon, or of the (4) sabbath days (plural)

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in
(1) meat, or in drink, or in (2) respect of an holyday (Festival), or of the (3) new moon, or of the (4) sabbath days (plural):

Compare Col 2:16 with the annual Jewish festivals from the Mosic annual festival laws for remission of sin...

Ezekiel 45
17,
And it shall be the prince's part to give burnt offerings, and (1) meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the (2) feasts, and in the (3) new moons, and in the (4) sabbaths <Plural>, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.
18,
Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the first month, in the first day of the month, thou shalt take a young bullock without blemish, and cleanse the sanctuary:
19, And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering, and put it upon the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar, and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court.
20, And so thou shalt do the seventh day of the month for every one that erreth, and for him that is simple: so shall ye reconcile the house.
21, In the first month, in the fourteenth day of the month, ye shall have the (2) passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten.

All CONTEXT and points 1-4 match perfectly to the Annual Jewish festivals detailed in both scriptures; also detailed in Leviticus 23; (1) meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the (2) feasts, and in the (3) new moons, and in the sabbaths <Plural>

So it is very clear the Col 2:16 is in reference to the annual Jewish Festivals from the Mosaic laws for remission of sin....

Also last key point here. The word sabbaton used here also means day of weekly repose from secular avocations. As this within chapter CONTEXT is the ceremonial laws of Moses and the within scripture CONTEXT is the annual Jewish festivals linked to the ceremonial laws of Moses. The annual festivals have a combination of days that are Holy convocation and special annual festival sabbaths that can fall on ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. (wiki)

These are different to God’s 4[SUP]th[/SUP] commandment and have a different purpose and use in relation to the festival it is attached to.

The point here is that on these Holy convocations and special sabbath days NO WORK was to be conducted these were in part application sabbaton (GREEK WORD USE). So the GREEK word used in Colossians 2:16 is rightly translated for the days of Holy Convocation and special festival sabbaths of the Mosaic annual feast days of the old testament where NO secular WORK was to be conducted.

Look at Paul's reasoning, "Let no one judge you regarding a,
festival - yearly Sabbaths, (not referring to yearly Sabbaths but the Greek word is Festival)
a new moon - monthly Sabbaths,
or a Sabbath day - weekly Sabbaths (or if you wish Sabbath days)" (Not referring to weekly Sabbath)
CHRIST, he goes on to say is the "Substance", these things were shadows.
Highlighted in red above the writer puts their own interpretation on the scripture without considering within Chapter and Scripture context or understanding the application of the Greek to the Hebrew. Let’s see why……….

* Festival
Right away in this section of the post above the writer of the website is putting his own interpretation on the GREEK Word used in Col 2:16 for holy day which is ἑορτή; heortē
heh-or-tay' ; Of uncertain affinity; a festival: - feast, holyday.

The meaning of this word used for Holy day in Col 2:16 is simply what it says a festival or feast. There were seven annual Jewish feasts; Periodic Feasts such as the New Moon feasts; Sabbath year (every 7[SUP]th[/SUP] year) feasts and Jubilee Feasts. Col 2:16 DOES NOT say as the writer substitutes above it means “yearly Sabbaths”

* or a Sabbath day
Again the writer does the same thing. He writes into the scripture his own interpretation of the scripture saying that the word sabbaton used in Col 2:16 means “weekly Sabbaths” when the within chapter CONTEXT and the within scripture CONTEXT is the ceremonial laws of Moses and the annual Jewish festivals in relation to Holy convocations and special yearly Sabbaths outlined in Leviticus 23 which can fall on ANY DAY of the week. These special Holy days in the GREEK Word used in Col 2:16 would also be translated Sabbaton because no work was to be done on these holy days connected to the Jewish festival. These are different to God’s 4[SUP]th[/SUP] commandment and have a different purpose and use in relation to the festival it is attached to.

The point here is that on these Holy convocations and special sabbath days NO WORK was to be conducted. The GREEK word sabbaton (GREEK WORD USE) is correctly used to refer to these rest days of Leviticus 23. So the GREEK word sabbaton which is used in Colossians 2:16 is rightly translated referring to the days of Holy Convocation and special festival sabbaths of the Mosaic annual feast days of the old testament where NO secular WORK was to be conducted because they were part of the Shadow laws pointing to Jesus.

The ceremonial laws of Moses and the Jewish annual festivals are the within Chapter and Scripture CONTEXT, NOT the weekly Sabbath as interpreted by the websites writer.

So right away here the writer of the website is building his house of sand. The very foundation or premise of his whole argument has already fallen over because he has not considered within CHAPTER and within SCRIPTURE CONTEXT of Colossians Chapter 2.

Let’s move on to the next section……

When this passage is compared with Galatians 4:9 an obvious connection in Paul's teaching is revealed:

"But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again? You observe days and months and seasons and years."

Verse 10 flatly states, "you observe...",

days (weekly Sabbaths, corresponding to "Sabbath days in Col. 2) (NOT referring to 4[SUP]th[/SUP] command)
months (new moons, corresponding to "a new moon" in Col. 2)
seasons (the 7 feasts, corresponding to "festivals" in Col. 2)
and years (the sabbatical year and the 50th year of Jubilee)

Obviously Paul is clearing speaking about the observances of all Jewish holy day, including the Sabbath.
Highlighted in red above the writer puts their own interpretation on the scripture without considering within Chapter and Scripture context or understanding the application of the Greek to the Hebrew. Let’s see why……….

Firstly Galatians 4 is indeed following a similar theme to Colossians 2 but as already shown above the within CHAPTER and SCRIPTURE CONTECT of Colossians 2 is the ceremonial laws of Moses that were completed at the death of Jesus and the annual Jewish festivals as shadows pointing to Christ and NOT God’s 4[SUP]th[/SUP] commandment. Let’s have a look at the Galatians 4……

9, But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? 10, Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.

Galatians 4 continues….

v11 I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain
v17, They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.
v21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
v22, For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
v23, But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
v24, Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants;8 the one from the mount Sinai, which genders to bondage, which is Agar.
v25, For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answers to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
v26, But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

The above scriptures connect very well with Colossians 2 and Acts 15 in that once again the within CHAPTER CONTEXT is the Mosaic festivals and Holy days. THERE IS NO MENTION OF THE 4[SUP]th[/SUP] COMMANDMENT in this entire CHAPTER whatsoever but the chapter is consistent with Col 2 and the annual Jewish Festivals under the Mosaic book of the law for remission of SINS that were shadows pointing to Jesus and were nailed to the cross with our sins.

Note in v17 some people were effecting these believers to turn back to the law of Moses in v21. This has a parallel to other scriptures such as Acts 15 where Jewish believers were trying to get the gentiles CIRCUMCISED under the law or they could NOT be saved…..

Acts 15
1, And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved. 2, When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

The reference to Galatians 4 is once again to the law of Moses being turned back to the law of Moses written in the book of annual festivals as a form of salvation. It has no reference to God’s 10 Commandments whatsoever!

The laws of Moses for remission of sins were shadows pointing to Jesus that Colossians 2 says were nailed to the cross NOT God’s 10 commandments. So once again the writer of the website has NOT considered within CHAPTER and SCRIPTURE CONTEXT and falsely interprets the meaning of Galatians chapter 4.

BOOM!! and the word of website comes tumbling down... to be continued

..........

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.

PART 2/2 The Word of Website come tumbling down... Continued

SABBATARIANS have long challenged, "Find one verse in the Bible that shows the day of worship has been changed from Sabbath to Sunday."
Well, that statement is part of building a straw man. It is not the issue. The New Testament makes that a moot point because it says it doesn't matter what day you worship on.

Romans 14:5
"One man regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Let each man be fully convinced in his own mind."

Galatians 4:9-11 "But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again? You observe days and months and seasons and years. I fear for you, that perhaps I have labored over you in vain."

Colossians 2:16-17 "Therefore let no one act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day--things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ." [/QUOTE]

There is no such label a SABBATARIAN there are only BELIEVERS and UNBELIEVERS in God’s Word. This is a label applied by those that teach against the LAW and the Prophets of the Word of God. It is indeed true however that there is NOT ONE SCRIPTURE in God’s WORD that says that God’s 4[SUP]th[/SUP] Commandment has been ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day. If this were true you would think that there would be some writings referring to this in the old and NEW testament scriptures. The simple truth of the matter is that there is NO such scripture. Let’s look at the scriptures that the writer of the website puts forward…………

Romans 14:5
"One man regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Let each man be fully convinced in his own mind."

The writer argues that this verse means that God’s 4[SUP]th[/SUP] commandment has been abolished and yet God’s Sabbath or any of the 10 Commandments are NOT EVEN MENTIONED in the entire Chapter.

Let’s have a look……

If the whole chapter or book of Romans does not even mention God's LAW, the 4th commandment of the 7th day Sabbath of God's LAW why do you think it is talking about God's LAW (10 commandments)?

The simple truth is that the Chapter is not about God's commandment as it is not even mentioned. Let's look at the chapter and see what it is talking about...........

Romans 14
1,
Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. The first thing we see here is that this chapter is about relating to a weak brother.
2, For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
3, Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
4, Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

Now to the meat and potatoes…

5, One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
6, He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

Why is eating and fasting (not eating) connected to days here? Let’s see…...............

(6), He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

Isaiah 58
5, Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul?
is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?

links to.....

Luke 18
11,
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12, I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

From Bullingers Companion Bible…........

Luke 18:12
Twice in the week. The law prescribed only one in the year (Lev_16:29. Num_29:7). By the time of Zec_8:19 there were four yearly fasts. In our Lord's day they were bi-weekly (Monday and Thursday), between Passover and Pentecost; and between the Feast of Tabernacles and the Dedication.

Yes they fasted sometimes two days a week and also annually in the feasts of Lev 23.

7, For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8, For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
9, For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
10, But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother?
for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11, For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12, So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13, Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
14, I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean <ceremonially profaned, defiled or unholy> of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean<ceremonially profaned, defiled or unholy>, to him it is unclean.
15
, But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

(14) At the time meat and drink were offered to pagan idols. After it was offered it was sold in a meat market called the ‘Shambles’.

1Cor 10
25,
Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:

Shambles ; μάκελλον; makellon; mak'-el-lon Of Latin origin [macellum ]; a butcher's stall, meat market or provision shop: - shambles.

There were those who were weak in the faith (verse 1) who were offended by the thought of food being offered to idols. They somehow thought that eating that food was somehow connecting them with the idolatrous practices around them.

Some points to consider in Romans 14:1-15............

1. The chapter is talking about a number of related topics
2. Overall it is talking about not juding those who are weak in the faith in relation to food connected to days or days dedicated to the Lord and that is all it is talking about.
3. Food connected to days in usually in relation to the annual festivals or fasting connected to weekly or Holy days unto the Lord (Lev 16:29. Num 29:7; Issaiah 58:5; Luke 18:11-12).
4. There is no mention of the Sabbath or God's 4th commandment in this chapter or the entire book of Romans.
5. Romans 14 is not talking about ABOLISHING ANY DAYS but only talking about judging others in relation to food or fasting connected to days dedicated to the LORD and food offered to idols.
6. The Chapter is consistant with all the other writing of Paul in relation to the jewish annual holy days fulfilled in Christ (eg, Colossains 2; Ephesians 2; Galatains 4:10; Hebrews 9:9-15; 10:1-17).
7. Paul's topics is summarised in v17; For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

It is very clear from reading the scriptures that this whole Chapter has nothing whatsoever at all to do with the 4th commandment which is to keep Holy the 7th day Sabbath but is talking about judging others in relation to food connected to holy days and idolatry.

Both Galatians 4:9-11 and Colossians 2:16-17 have already been addressed with scriptures in POST 1/2 and also in this OP.

SABBATARIANS ASK FOR ONE TEXT IN THE BIBLE THAT COMMANDS SUNDAY WORSHIP, HERE IT IS:

LEVITICUS 23:5-11 - Look at verse 11: "'And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord for you to be accepted; on the day after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.'" The day after the Sabbath is Sunday.

Read on specifically looking at Leviticus 23:15 - "'You shall also count for yourselves from the day after the sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete sabbaths. You shall count fifty days to the DAY AFTER THE SEVENTH SABBATH; then you shall present a new grain offering to the Lord.'" This is the Feast of Pentecost. It was one of the compulsory feasts of Israel.

Note on the day of Pentecost, a Sunday God's people were commanded to worship. God says, "On this same day you shall make a proclamation as well; you are to have a holy convocation. You shall do no laborious work. It is to be perpetual statute in all your dwelling places throughout your generations." Leviticus 23:21.

If you think this is only applying to "ceremonial" days, Leviticus 23 starts out talking about the weekly Sabbath (see Lev. 23:1-4). It is called an appointed time and a holy convocation, along with all the other feast days of Israel. No distinction is made by God between these holy days and the weekly Sabbath. He includes them as being equally holy. This would mean that under the Old Covenant the First Fruits Sunday and the Pentecost Sunday were as holy and sanctified as Saturday.

If you think this only applies to Israel, that's our point. The Ten Commandment Covenant, --the Old Covenant was made with Israel, and NOT with the Gentiles.

Look at Exodus 31:13, 16 and 17: "But as for you, speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'You shall surely observe My sabbaths; for this is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you....So the sons of Israel shall observe the sabbath, to celebrate the sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever;..."
I was going to ignore this section but for those interested all of the above has no reference to God’s 4[SUP]th[/SUP] commandment being Abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday Holy but comes up with some strange theory that NO ONE in the NEW Testament scriptures refer to at all.

Where all of the above falls down however, is that the Annual festivals can fall on any day of the week depending on the years they are observed so the statement that say Pentecost is always a Sunday or the Feast of First fruit is always a Sunday is a false one. However Jesus in the New Testament was resurrected on the Sunday which indeed for this year was the Feast of First fruit in fulfilment of the Jewish annual festival. The Feast of first fruits was pointing to the resurrection of Jesus. It is not saying that God’s 4[SUP]th[/SUP] Commandment is ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day.

Once again find one scripture in the entire Bible that says God’s 4[SUP]th[/SUP] Commandment or ANY of God’s 10 commandments have been Abolished, there simply is NONE! WHY?

You cannot know the power of God’s salvation or the Gospel of Grace without the 10 commandments. If there is NO LAW then you have NO KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT SIN IS (James 2:11; Romans 7:7; Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4). If you do not know what SIN is you have NO NEED OF A SAVIOR. If you have NO need of a Saviour you have NO SALVATION. If you have NO SALVATION you are LOST because it is written.

Rom 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;

So no the writer of the websites new light claim has been shown for what it is and that is it is building on sand teaching against God’s LAW and the Prophets and is a false teaching building on the teachings of men and not on the Word of God.

The Sabbath & Sunday
Seems like the writer of the website has conveniently forgotten to leave out the NEW Testament scriptures on the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] Commandment. Let’s have a look……….

God's Law (10 commandments) repeated in the New Testament

1 You shall have no other gods before Me.
It is written: You shall worship the Lord your God and Him only you shall serve. (Luke 4:8; Matthew 4:10; Revelation 14:7)

2 You must not make for yourself a carved image, a likeness of anything in heaven, on earth, or under the sea.
God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (John 4:24; Acts 15:20; 1 Corinthians 6:9; Ephesians 5:5; 1 Peter 4:3; 1 John 5:21; Revelation 2:14)

3 You shall not take the Name of the Lord your God in vain.

4 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
The Sabbath [seventh day] was made for man, not man for the Sabbath, so the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath. 5 Honour your father and mother.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. (Ephesians 6:1; Colossians 3:20; Matthew 15:4; Matthew 19:19)

6 You shall not murder.
I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:44-45; Matt. 5:21-26; Romans 13:9; 1 Timothy 1:9; 1 John 3:15; James 2:11; Matthew 19:18)

7 You shall not commit adultery.
I say to you whoever even looks at another in lust has already committed adultery in their heart. (Matthew 5:28, 1 Cor. 5:11, 1 Cor. 6:18, Galatians 5:19, Hebrews 13:4, James 2:11, Matthew 19:19, Romans 13:9)

8 You shall not steal.
Neither thieves, the greedy, or drunkards and robbers will inherit the Kingdom. (1 Corinthians 6:10, Romans 2:21, Mark 7:21, Ephesians 4:28, Romans 13:9, Matthew 19:18)

9 You shall not bear false witness.
For by your words, you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned. (Matthew 15:19, Ephesians 4:25, Col. 3:9; Matthew 19:18, Romans 13:9)

10 You shall not covet your neighbours possessions.
Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist of the things he possesses. (Luke 12:15, Romans 7:7, Ephesians 5:3, 1 Tim. 6:10, Hebrews 13:5, Romans 13:9)

There is a lot of scriptures here and we have not even looked at all the scriptures in the NT on the 10 commandments on which the 4th commandment is one of the ten.

BOOM!!!!! The word of website come tumbling DOWN because it was not built on the ROCK but on sifting SAND teaching against God’s LAW (10 Commandments) and the Prophets.

Jeremiah 17
5,
Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from the LORD.

Only God's Word is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW it.

............................................

Hi Grandpa,

Nice of you to join us again although I am not sure why you keep saying the same things that have already been shown through the scriptures that your interpretation of them is building on sifting sand.

If you need help with the scriptures above again and it will help you, just let me know. But all of the above have already been addressed soo many times already in this thread in my view it is a waste of time. However let me know if you would like the correct context that your interpretation is missing and I am happy to share the scriptures.

You have not addressed the OP on Col 2:16-17 or responded to the posts responding to your interpretation of Hebrews 4 and Matthew 11:28 so how is it possible to have a discussion with you when you say the the table it a chair the table is a chair when in fact the table is a table? Only God's Word is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW it.

If you understood Gods Word then you would understand what I say.

But you don't.

Can't have much of a conversation when you purposely twist the scriptures to suit your own SDA philosophy.

The 10 commandments cannot save anyone. They are the ministration of death. The Lord Jesus Christ is the only one that can save us.

So why continue with the silly focus on the 10 commandments instead of the proper focus on the Lord Jesus Christ?

Because you don't understand and you don't have any desire to. You just want to push your SDA propaganda.

Galatians 5:1 [FONT=&quot]Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

[/FONT]
Now read Colossians 2:16-17 and see if a light comes on...

Now MarcR. Where are all these scriptures you say you know and that intelligent conversation? Seems you have not provided any scriptures whatsoever or the intelligent conversation.

Who should we believe God or man?

...............

There is not one scripture in ALL of God's WORD that says God's 4th commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to worship God on Sunday in it's place.

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (
Matthew 15:3-9)

In times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men every where to REPENT for the KINGDOM of HEAVEN is at HAND (
Acts 17:30-31)

I do not expect to argue with you because you are about as teachable as my left shoe. I don't argue with it either. My right shoe is different because it is always right. I will refute you for the sake of others but I will not argue with you.

Now please Grandpa you are a funny one indeed. What scripture do you believe I have twisted and lets talk about it and share the Word of God. If you cannot should you not BELIEVE the Word shared with you? Only God's Word is true. It is on the Word of God we stand or fall. Please make your case with the scriptures. What is it you claim I have twisted and prove your claim.

Where have I or anyone here ever said to you that we are saved by keeping the 10 commandments?

It's never been about following the law its always been about following Christ by faith through love alone. Faith that works by love is what fulfills God's Law in those that walk in His Spirit (Romans 13:8-10).

Obedience is only the fruit of faith and a sign that someone is genuinely following God's Word (Matthew 7:17-27). If you seek obedience without faith you will never attain it because this is the gift of God written on the heart (Ephesians 2:8; Galatians 2:16; Hebrews 8:10-12).

But if you believe God's Word, your faith will be counted for righteousness in God's eyes (Romans 1:17; Philippians 3:9). If your faith does not have the fruit of obedience (God's work in you) than you are still in your sins and have not seen him or known him and your faith is dead (Philippians 2:13; Hebrews 10:26-27; 1 John 2:2-4; 1 John 3:3-9).

What we are talking about is SIN and how SIN will keep all who practice it OUT of God's Kingdom. If you profess to have saving FAITH but your faith does NOT have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE to God's Word then your faith is DEAD and you are still in your SINS and do not KNOW him who calls us in LOVE to LOVE all as he first LOVED us. LOVE is the fulfilling of the LAW in those who walk by FAITH in God's Spirit. (James 2:18; 20; 26; Romans 13:8-10; 1 John 3:3-10; James 2:8-12; Matthew 7:13-20)

There are only two classes of people spoken about in God's Word. These are those that follow God by Faith through LOVE and those that do not. Those that do NOT BELIEVE have rejected His Word. Those that have NOT Heard the WORD are ignorant and God winks at. Those that have heard the Word however and have rejected God's Word are UNBELIEVERS and unless they repent and confess their SINS they WILL NOT Enter into God's Kingdom (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Now if I agree with you that none of us are saved by the works of the Law then we are in agreement. If we are in agreement then your argument falls about because we are in agreement and you have nothing to argue about. However if you are still in your SINS then you should BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD because SIN will keep all who KNOWINGLY practice it OUT of the KINGDOM of HEAVEN unless they SEEK him who LOVES all in REPENTANCE and FORGIVENESS through FAITH.

Only God's Word is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW Him who calls us.

Disagree? Please make your case with God's WORD. IF you cannot should you not BELIEVE and FOLLOW Him who calls you?

Hello MarcR,

I am not arguing with you by sharing God's Word with you. It is God's Word I am only a messenger and it is God's Word not mine. I am no one and only follow him who loves us. What he shares with me I must preach on the housetop for all to see. It is his light that shines without him I am nothing and can do nothing.

We either have the Word of God for what we BELIEVE and FOLLOW of we do not. It is on the Word of God we stand or fall. It seems you have fallen.

What is it that you believe you have refuted? If you haver not refuted anything should you not BELIEVE and FOLLOW the Word of God?

nothing to refute. Scripture does not contradict. only ones trying to push an agenda try to make Scripture contradict. like you, pushing a ellen white, sda agenda. invented by a women who feel, bumped her head, started to receive visions, then started a cult.

when one believes that Jesus is the resurrected Lord and Savior, who confess with their mouth and believes in their heart that Christ is Lord and risen from the dead contradicts nothing.

I do not know if you believe in your heart, but you certainly with not confess with your mouth ( or fingers, same thing in this format), so that certainly leaves doubt.

you confess constant belief in the Sabbath. as far as Jesus, well............

Hello MarcR, please show me any perversion of God's Word thaty you say that I have shared. If you cannot are you telling the truth? If you cannot dispute the Word of God that is shared with you then if it true indeed that it is the Word of God who you say you know but do not. You can choose to BELIEVE God's WOrd or not the decision is your and all a free to choose for themselves this day who they will serve. You cannot serve two masters for you will either love the one or hate the other.

If any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

Do you know the scriptures MarcR and what is it that you dispute and say is NOT true?

Hello gb9, what is it that you say I share that contradicts the scriptures? Simply saying something that you say does not make it so. Come let us readon together from the Word of God. If you have God's Word to share let's share it. If you do not then you do not KNOW the word of God and your words are only your own and empty. Only God's Word is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW him who calls us.

This is true as it was shown with the Word of your website that is fallen that you posted in post # 3222 linked. Disagree please post your scriptures and reply to your websites post I sent to you. If you cannot should you turn away from the teachings and traditions of men and seek him who loves you through His Word?

Those whu turn to the teachings and traditions of men over the Word of God is a very sad thing indeed because it is written;

Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. (Jer 17:5)

and again.......

Here, try this one simple verse, maybe it will sink in.

Hebrews 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Let us start in verse nine again.

9.There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

The Greek word here in verse 9 for rest means a "sabbathing", a keeping of a Sabbath and that is a fact that is easily verified in any Lexicon. Prior to this the Greek word used for rest meant to rest, to stop. That is why it was used in relation to the Gospel. This is brought out in verses 1-4. There is no disputing this either. God wants us to stop living our lives in sin and live our lives in Him. Rest in Him. His Rest, the Gospel. For it is He that wants to work in you both to will and do His good pleasure.

10.For he that is entered into his rest [received the Gospel], he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His.

"As GOD did from HIS" is a direct comparison. There is no changing or twisting that.

So Because of receiving the Gospel; HIS rest. The new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh. Whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;and of their sins and their lawlessnesses shall I under no circumstances still be reminded.(Heb 10:14-16)

We can now enter into Sabbath without defiling it. The Seventh day is blessed and hallowed. Without us experiencing the Gospel we can not keep the Sabbath. Our worship is offensive without us receiving the Gospel. And as a matter of fact without us receiving the Gospel we can not even truly cease physically as GOD had intended on the Sabbath.

The verse says, "For he that is entered into his rest [received the Gospel], he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His."

"As GOD did from HIS". So with that you must ask yourself how and when did God cease from his own works. The answer to that is recorded in Gen 2, "And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he ceased on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made."(Gen 2:2-3)

God Is a Spiritual Being he is always in the state of Spiritual Rest. To say that GOD ceased any thing other than what is recorded is saying more than what is written.

On the Seventh Day GOD ceased from the physical labor of creation. Plainly put HE stopped. He was done because HE was finished.

Therefore He that received the Gospel, cease from their own physical work as God did from His physical work on the 7th day Sabbath. And this is, was and will continue to be done on the Seventh day of the week into eternity because HE blessed the day and hallowed it..

Gods Rest isn't a saturday sabbath.
No it isn't; it is Friday sundown to Saturday sundown.
God didn't need to rest every 7 days. He finished His Work on the 7th day.
Never said GOD needed to rest. This is what was said
God Is a Spiritual Being he is always in the state of Spiritual Rest. On the Seventh Day Sabbath he ceased from the physical labor of creation. Which is recorded in Genesis 2.
Therefore He that received the Gospel, cease from their own physical work as God did from His physical work on the 7th day Sabbath.

And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.(Isa 66:23 KJV)
There won't be resting on the 7th day in the Kingdom. There will be resting from one full moon to another, from one sabbath to another. In other words, ALL THE TIME.
The context of the passage is worship not resting. The point of that verse being posted was to show that there is still a Sabbath in eternity. The reason for that is because GOD had blessed it and Hallowed it. And because of that it will be forever recognized because it is forever blessed and hallowed.

You use mis-leading language inserting certain things that aren't true with certain things that are. You'll need to straighten that out eventually.
By all means show me. Here is the post again so you don't have to go back and forth.
Hebrews 4 speaks of two rests. The Gospel and the Sabbath. One can not keep the Sabbath unless they are experiencing the Gospel.

1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
The Rest, His Rest here is the Gospel. This is reiterated in the next verse.

2.For unto us was the Gospel preached , as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

The Gospel which is the New Covenant, the placing of God's commandments, His Word, His intent into our hearts and minds through the indwelling of His Spirit. This is the rest in verse 1 which we enter into through faith. Or do not enter into because of unbelief (obstinate and rebellious disobedience).

This unbelief is discussed earlier in chapter 3

Hebrews
3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
3:7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day, [now] if ye will hear his voice,......
8 Harden not your hearts,......
11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For they do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
14 For we are made partakers of Christ, (his indwelling Spirit) if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? [was it] not with them that had sinned,

Through an Evil heart of unbelief, we depart from the living God, hardened through the deceitfulness of sin we will not know His ways.
So today hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation when they did provoke. Them that sinned, evil hearted unbelievers, hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Which whom was He grieved? Them that sinned and had not held their confidence steadfast unto the end. These are those who had not entered into His Rest therefore had never kept a Sabbath

Now Back to chapter 4:1,2

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left [us] of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard [it]4:3 For we which have believed, do enter into rest.

We do enter into His Rest, receive the Gospel the New Covenant, Which is His Commandments, His Word in our Hearts and in our minds. The anointing; Christ in us the Hope of Glory. For it is He that worketh in us to will and do His good pleasure. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God.
2 Cor. 3:5 Heb 8:10

3 As he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

This rest is still speaking of the Gospel. The works for our salvation in the Gospel were finished from beginning when He had laid the foundation of the World.
We trampled on the gift of the Gospel from the Beginning of time and even though we deserve God's wrath salvation is still available to us.

According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love..... the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Rev 13:8; Eph 1:4

Now pay attention please.

4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. 5 And in this again, If they shall enter into my rest.

And this again, the Sabbath, the Seventh Day if we enter into, receive His rest, the Gospel, the indwelling of His Spirit.
For God spoke of the Seventh Day in a certain place and that certain place was on Mt Sinia.
And this again he speaks it says in verse 4 and 5, "if we shall enter into His Rest," receive the Gospel.

6.Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein , and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

Remember the previous chapter they Never received the Gospel therefore since they never truly enter into union with the Father they never truly kept a Sabbath. They could not due to their unbelief through the deceitfulness of sin.
A unholy being cannot keep a day holy, sanctified. Their very presence defiles it.

So they never truly kept the Sabbath. They were defiled by the deceitfulness of sin. We are enjoined to rest and to keep the day Holy. If we have iniquity on our hearts it prevents us from keeping it Holy. Therefore they never truly kept it in the way our Lord YHWH had intended.

7.Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David [Ps 95:7,8] To day, [ Now ]after so long a time; as it is said , To day [Right now] if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts as in the day of provocation, 8.For if Jesus had given them rest , [Joshua leading the children of Israel into the promised land] , then would he, David, [See Psalm 95] not afterward have spoken of another day.

Verses six through eight are a call to repentance. Today (in other words now) after so long a time today (right now) if you will hear His voice harden not your hearts. Receive the rest that we receive in Christ, the Gospel. For He is our God and we are the people of His Pasture, His Resting, His indwelling; for we are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them and walk in them Heb 8:10 I will put my laws into their mind and write them in their hearts and I will be their God and they shall be my people. That is the Gospel; the New Covenant.

9.There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

The Greek word here in verse 9 for rest means a "sabbathing", a keeping of a Sabbath. Prior to this the Greek word used for rest meant to rest, to stop. That is why it was used in relation to the Gospel. God wants us to stop living our lives in sin and live our lives in Him. Rest in Him. His Rest, the Gospel. For it is He that wants to work in you both to will and do His good pleasure.

10.For he that is entered into his rest [received the Gospel. Which by the way enables us to be Holy and remain so, through His indwelling Spirit ], he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His.

Did you get that? Because of receiving the Gospel we cease from our own works as GOD did from His. "As is" is a direct comparison. So with that you must ask yourself how and when did God cease from his own works. The answer to that is recorded in Gen 2.... on the Seventh Day, And God did rest from all His work on the seventh day (see Hebrews Verse 4 and Genesis Chapter 2:1-3).

And this is, was and will continue to be done on the Seventh day of the week into eternity.

And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
(Isa 66:23 KJV)

Hello gb9, what is it that you say I share that contradicts the scriptures? Simply saying something that you say does not make it so. Come let us readon together from the Word of God. If you have God's Word to share let's share it. If you do not then you do not KNOW the word of God and your words are only your own and empty. Only God's Word is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW him who calls us.

.............

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.
so, talking about Jesus, saying that He is the risen Lord and Savior, ( something you refuse to say ) is NOT sharing God's word.

Sabbath is not the center and heart of the Bible. Jesus is. you prove yourself more and more to be a non-believer. ( In Jesus ).

If our eyes are not open we cannot see the Garden of Eden or the paradise of God. Sin closes our eyes and makes us blind but seeking Jesus can open the blind eyes to see and the deaf to hear.

Truly, truly, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. I say unto you, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

There is only life in the living Word. These are his Words and not my own. Freely I give because freely I have received. Your Words are not directed towards me but to the one who the Word belongs. Do you know the scriptures gb9?

There is nothing hidden that shall not be revealed come judgement day. Sin will keep all who practice it out of God's Kingdom.

...........

In times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men every where to REPENT for the KINGDOM of HEAVEN is at HAND (Acts 17:30-31)
