Free from the law = free from the penalty of the law. This in a sense mean the law is not affectting us, no penalty for us.
But we need to remember why the penalty has been taken away.
Because Jesus paid the penalty for us. Thanks to Jesus we are free from the condemnation of the law.
Sin is the transgression of the law.
Sin = eternal death.
Jesus paid the debt for us, and that means the law has not changed, if Jesus removed the law we are not condemned today. No law = no sin but we need forgiveness to be free.
Do we transgress the law because Jesus is able to pay it? Should i continue to sin because Jesus is gracious and merciful?
The law has not been changed. But God has made a way to be free from the condemnation of the law.
Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. 13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
“Free from the law”
a you know the Bible doesn’t make that distinction where you are saying it’s talking about the punishment the Bible actually tells us what the law is meant to do first
“Now we know
that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law:
that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Therefore
by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
Romans 3:19-20 KJV
That leaves the law itself not the punishment of the law but the book of the law and everything written in it , here
Any Christian o preaching adherence to Moses law is working a subversion on themselves and others because you can’t choose a few rules of the law obey them and then say “ I keep the law “ you have to keep every word Moses wrote on his book of the law for Israel , every time
“For
as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written,
Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
But that
no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.”
Galatians 3:10-12 KJV
if we accept what e apostles already taught about the law we would find agreement among Christian’s and edification also it’s really super clear
at he punishment of the law is death when a sinner is out to death the law has nothing else to say to them they sinned and are now dead tbat concludes the laws service
christians die for sin here
“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?”
Romans 6:3 KJV
that alsoMeans they have died to the law of sin and death
“
Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that
the law hath dominion over a man ( only ) as long as he liveth?
Wherefore, my
brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be
married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead,
that we should bring forth fruit unto God.”
Romans 7:1, 4 KJV
awe can’t serve God by going to feasts and stoning each other for sin or ceremonial washing or bringing calves and goats to levites so they can sacrifice for our sins , we can’t serve God by being told what we better not do or die that’s for these folks
“knowing this, that
the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;”
1 Timothy 1:9-10 KJV
of we are on that group your eighth we better start leeenkng the law but if we are ofnthe group that died to the law then we have what is for the righteous in Christ for Gods elect children the gospel not with the law but seperate from the law which we already died to in baptism
“But now
the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;”
Romans 3:21 KJV
“But
now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in
newness of spirit, and
not in the oldness of the letter.”
Romans 7:6 KJV
Well Never understand if we’re not able to hear what this is plainly saying here
“Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: and not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that
the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: but their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.”
2 Corinthians 3:12-16 KJV
awe just need to step beyond that veil into Christs glorious light and clarity that’s where this happens not by the law but by the gospel
“For
I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the
Jew first, and also to the
Greek.
For
therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
Romans 1:16-17 KJV
That’s the gospel and we saw the law is opposite
For
as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written,
Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
But that
no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.”
Galatians 3:10-12
There are two testaments
“The
law and the
prophets were
until John:
since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.”
Luke 16:16 KJV
( were in the since that time group ) it’s a new thing God is doing he was always foretelling it
