I was hoping for a repeat
Not without inviting God to intervene ----Nice try but you need to read the Chapter ---Hezekiah prays ---the Lord answers his prayer and gets involved ----and the army is destroyed ----it works the same today -

You have to INVITE GOD through Prayer to get involved in earthly affairs ----Period

Hezekiah Prays to the Lord

14 Hezekiah received the letters from the messengers and read them. Then he went up to the Lord’s Temple and laid the letters out in front of the Lord. 15 Hezekiah prayed before the Lord and said, “Lord, God of Israel, you sit as King above the Cherub angels. You alone are the God who rules all the kingdoms on earth. You made heaven and earth.
16 Lord, please listen to me. Lord, open your eyes and look at this message. Hear the words that Sennacherib sent to insult the living God. 17 It is true, Lord. The kings of Assyria did destroy all those nations. 18 They did throw the gods of those nations into the fire. But they were not real gods. They were only wood and stone—statues that people made. That is why the kings of Assyria could destroy them. 19 But you are the Lord our God, so please save us from the king of Assyria. Then all the other nations will know that you, Lord, are the only God.”

God Answers Hezekiah

20 Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent this message to Hezekiah. Isaiah said, “The Lord, the God of Israel, says this:
You prayed to me about the message that came from King Sennacherib of Assyria. I have heard you.

21 “This is the Lord’s message against Sennacherib:

‘The virgin daughter Zion[a] does not think you are important.
She makes fun of you.
Daughter Jerusalem shakes her head at you
and laughs behind your back.
22 But who did you insult and make fun of?
Who did you speak against?
You were against the Holy One of Israel.
You acted like you were better than he was!
23 You sent your messengers to insult the Lord.
You said, “I came with my many chariots to the high mountains deep inside Lebanon.
I cut down the tallest cedar trees and the best fir trees of Lebanon.
I went to its highest mountains, its thickest forests.
24 I dug wells, and drank water from new places.
I dried up the rivers of Egypt
and walked on the land there.”
25 That is what you said, but haven’t you heard what I said?
I planned it long ago;
from ancient times I planned it.
And now I have made it happen.
I let you tear down the strong cities
and change them into piles of rocks.
26 The people in the cities had no power.
They were afraid and confused.
They were about to be cut down
like grass and plants in the field.
They were like grass growing on the housetops,
dying before it grows tall.
27 I know all about your battles;
I know when you rested,
when you went out to war,
and when you came home.
I also know when you got upset at me.
28 Yes, you were upset at me.
I heard your proud insults.
So I will put my hook in your nose
and my bit in your mouth.
Then I will turn you around
and lead you back the way you came.’”

The Lord’s Message for Hezekiah

29 Then the Lord said, “I will give you a sign to show that these words are true. You were not able to plant seeds this year, so next year you will eat grain that grows wild from the previous year’s crop. But in the third year, you will eat grain from seeds that you planted. You will harvest your crops and have plenty to eat. You will plant grapevines and eat their fruit. You will plant vineyards and eat the grapes from them. 30 The people from the family of Judah who have escaped and are left alive will be like plants that send their roots deep into the ground and produce fruit above the ground. 31 That is because a few people will come out of Jerusalem alive. There will be survivors coming from Mount Zion. The strong love[b] of the Lord All-Powerful will do this.

32 “So the Lord says this about the king of Assyria:

‘He will not come into this city
or shoot an arrow at this city.
He will not bring his shields up against this city
or build up a hill of dirt to attack its walls.
33 He will go back the way he came,
and he will not come into this city.
The Lord says this.
34 I will protect this city and save it.
I will do this for myself and for my servant David.’”

The Assyrian Army Is Destroyed
35 That night the angel of the Lord went out and killed 185,000 people in the Assyrian camp. When the others got up in the morning, they saw all the dead bodies.

36 So King Sennacherib of Assyria left and went back to Nineveh where he stayed

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Sometimes his delays are heart breaking. You pray for 40 years and watch GOD bless others with your request.....you get nothing. Your time is almost over and GOD still denies you.
God has 3 answers: Yes, No and Wait. The trick is to know if the answer is "No" or "Wait". Sometimes God is waiting for us to comply with His will first. Even His calling on our lives can be an idol if we are not careful.

i think for those who are Saved:
28 But we know that to those who love God all things work together for good, to those who are called according to his purpose.

God fulfills this Verse, in each Prayer we Pray, whether it be by granting or denying them.

if they are praying for it to end, they have no connection to the Spirit, to understand what's actually happening

The way in which you could see what im saying John, is if you only ever pray to help the lord each day, when those people who you do help don't show any gratitude, you can never be disappointed 🙂

Your sermising that statement and ----like I said there is protocol for answered prayer ----and you don't know the people who might be praying are true Christians ------anyone can call themselves a Christian today but they are not truly Christ--ians

Prerequisites for Answered Prayer

Though it is clear from Scripture that God always answers our prayers in some manner (as we mentioned above) there are also some guidelines for effective praying. Certain practices or attitudes can hinder your prayers and, in such cases, God will not respond to them. The passages below help us understand that we must be in a right relationship with God and with others in order for our prayers to be effectively heard by God.

1. Harboring unconfessed sin will put a barrier between you and God (Ps. 66:18).

2. God hears the prayers of those who obey His commands (1 John 3:22-23).

3. God will not hear prayers that have wrong or selfish motives (James 4:3).

4. We are instructed to pray according to His will, not according to ours (1 John 5:14-15).

5. When we pray, we are to ask in faith. Unbelief is a barrier to answered prayer (Mark 11:22-24).

6. An ongoing abiding life in Christ (having regular fellowship with Him) will allow your prayers to be heard. When fellowship is broken, so is communication with God (John 15:7).

7. Sometimes we don’t have answered prayers because we do not ask. We are to pursue appropriate requests regularly and bring them to God (Luke 11:9).

8. Prayer in the Spirit (that is, under the control of the Holy Spirit) is also a prerequisite. This verse instructs us that we must also persevere in our praying. Prayers offered in the flesh will not be heard by God (Eph. 6:18).

9. If you are unable to forgive someone for something that person has done to you, then God says He will not forgive you. Restored and right relationships are essential for open communication with God (Mark 11:25).

10. We are to pray with thankful hearts. Those of us who come before God without a spirit of thankfulness will find our prayers are not heard (Phil. 4:6)

Except when I did what the LORD asked me to do, helping my siblings and keeping them from being homeless.....I was still sinking financially. It took several years before GOD moved a friend to help me.. During that time my siblings were prospering. They were not going to lift a finger to help me.

just a thought John but in that several years did you pray everyday , saying lord how can I help you today,

Honestly John every time I pray this way and then wait for a reply, at some point there's in the day, theres always an idea that comes through to do something new,

it's amazing it's almost as if the lord is helping me and at the same time helping others, when I pray this way,

The latest one was 200 old pallets that lord lead me people advertise to take them away for free, like factories and such. I cut up the lot through a saw mill by shaving the rough bits of them I made a total of 25 modern and new look bedroom wardrobes I sold them quickly at 140.00 each tho they where easily worth 200.00 each.

I made a total of 2500 profit for just 2 weeks work 🙂.

I asked the lord where can I get some free wood all of a sudden this brain wave come to me to search for free wood on gumtree and there it was,

I've now got 200 orders for some more 🙂.

So if your prayer is not answered you're not really a Christian?
If your a true Christ--ian and your protocol is up to par ----then you should get your prayer answered by the Way God wants to answer it --not the way we want God to answer it ---and He will answer it on His time not our time ------

Are we saying, then, that God was unfair? Of course not! 15For God said to Moses, “I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose.”i
So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it. Romans 9:14

Romans 9 ---is your scripture ---and again you need to read the whole chapter ---this is talking about God choosing who He wants to bring about His plan ----who will be the children of the Promise

This has nothing to do with answered prayer ------Nice try though ----

God’s Sovereign Choice
6 It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. 7 Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”[b]

8 In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring

9 For this was how the promise was stated: “At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son.”[c]

10 Not only that, but Rebekah’s children were conceived at the same time by our father Isaac. 11 Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God’s purpose in election might stand: 12 not by works but by him who calls—she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”[d] 13 Just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”[e]

here is what God says about answering prayers -----

Prayers Of The Unrighteous

John 9:31 ESV / 253 helpful votes
We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him.
Proverbs 28:9 ESV / 225 helpful votes
If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

1 Peter 3:12 ESV / 208 helpful votes
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.

Psalm 66:18 ESV / 190 helpful votes
If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.

Isaiah 59:2 ESV / 152 helpful votes
But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.

Proverbs 15:29 ESV / 150 helpful votes
The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

James 5:16 ESV / 148 helpful votes
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

op: Does God Help everyone who prays?
According to God's Word Of Truth, Rightly Divided:

1) for UNbelievers:

"Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be
a worshipper of God, and doeth His Will, him He Heareth." (John 9:31)

2) Under God's earthly Prophetic program, for believing Israel:

"A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my
supplications: in Thy Faithfulness answer me, and in Thy
righteousness...And of Thy Mercy cut off mine enemies,
and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am Thy
servant." (Psalms 143:1,12)
Should we pray like ↑ that ↑?
+
"And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask
any thing according to His Will, He heareth us: And if we know
that He hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the
petitions that we desired of Him." (1 John 5:14-15)
Rightly Divided (2 Timothy 2:15) From “Things That Differ!” (online):

3) According To God's Heavenly Revelation Of The Mystery, Grace for the
believing Body Of Christ:

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be
made for all men" (1 Timothy 2:1)
+
"Be careful [ anxious ] for nothing; but in every thing by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your
requests be made known unto God." (Philippians 4:6)
+
"Likewise The Spirit also Helpeth our infirmities: for we know not
what we should pray for as we ought: but The Spirit Himself Maketh
Intercession For us with groanings which cannot be uttered."
(Romans 8:26)

Thanks Be Unto God For That , eh?
+
When our apostle of Grace prayed [ Three times! ], God 'Answered'?:

"And He Said Unto me, My Grace is Sufficient for thee: for my strength
is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory
in my infirmities, That The Power Of Christ may Rest upon me.
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities,
in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's Sake: for when I am weak,
then am I strong." (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)

Finally, when we [ believers, Under Grace ] pray and we don't
receive "The answer we think we 'ought to receive'," is it not
because?:

"For My Thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways
My Ways, Saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the
earth, so are My Ways Higher than your ways, and My Thoughts
Than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)
Why is God's Grace not Sufficient For us?

Amen.

no one gets every prayer answered the way they want. when prayers are unanswered it means God's not ready to answer your prayer, it's not time yet or you are acting out of God's commandments. by course, there's more to it.
