If you were perfect, you wouldn't need Jesus, you would be him. But you think you can choose perfection?
Choosing to be perfect does not mean one was always perfect but rather choosing to be perfect from here on out.

Depends on how you mean that. I can freely walk away if I choose, though He would pursue me if I did. If you mean I cannot choose everything I desire, then no my will is not free.
Slaves of Christ cannot walk away. Only slaves of sin can.

Could Paul, a slave of Christ, walk away?
He could have if he so desired. That's why he continually asked for prayer that he endure the race and encouraged his readers to pursue as if to win a prize.

John 6 shows us many disciples of Jesus walked away. However by your standards, walking away probably means something else.

But; “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” 1 John 3:9 (KJV 1900)

What does an out of context verse have to do with whether Paul could have walked away?

So what you’re saying is Paul was not of God.

It says it's impossible.
No, it doesn't. It says that sin is not of those born of God. Because it's not. And it has to be understood in the context of the whole of 1 John, which is a reproach to those who say they don't sin and to those who say that Christ gives license to sin.
