Third point - Prayer with the Animals
The animals pray with us. I know, this is hard to believe for those who are not too familiar with Orthodox thought but we continually mention the animals praising God in the writings of the Saints and in our Church services because it is in Holy Scripture . Read the Psalms. Even better, read Revelations 5:6-14. The Heavenly Liturgy. Notice verse 13. Yes, they have their own hymn in the Heavenly Liturgy before the throne of God.

Fourth point - Ultimate Things
Apparently animals will be in heaven. It is mentioned many times in the Old Testament. It is also mentioned by many Saints. The question is whether individual animals we have known will be there, or if brand new ones will be created. There are differing opinions out there. Some indicate one way, some indicate another, most are too vague to say there is even a statement there.

"God said: 'Let the waters produce reptiles with living souls, and on the earth winged creatures flying across the firmament of heaven.' This is what happened." (Genesis 1.20) This translation is in Homily 7 on Genesis by St. John Chrysostom (18). It is also in my Grandfather's Russian Bible. It is also in the Greek in the Septuagint.

funny you posted this picture with a boston terrier in it. best dogs ever.

i lost a boston terrier right in front of me due to old age.. i know shes in heaven. angels come to get animals just like they do humans.

the whole house felt new that day.. didnt feel like the house that i grew to knew.. my daughter was in her crib in her room talking and carrying on with something that same day that the house felt a "new" feeling... this feeling and my daughter talking to somebody that wasnt physically there wasnt a coincidence.. and that same day, my dog left me.. i truly believe an angel came to get her.

God loves all of His creations. God put animals and PETS here for a reason.. our pets become a part of our family.. God knew what He was doing with our pets being family.. they are family forever. heaven isnt only for "humans" and human-like angels.. heaven has animals up there to. God wouldnt forget to include any of our loved 1s in paradise. its a place to reunite / unite with loved 1s we knew and lost and never got a chance to meet.
Thanks for sharing. Boston Terriers are indeed adorable. :)

150 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

Ecclesiastes 3

19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

Animals are soulish creatures according to scripture....but they lack a Spirit.

The Spirit is what is eternal and what can reside in Heaven, and only humans have this capability...

Animals have soul,R Catholic says they do not have, but Holy Fathers teach they have. And what they do not have i will post tomorrow. It is very late, good night all.
Holy Fathers????? How many do we have? I thought we are not to call anyone on earth as our father?
Matthew 23:9
And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.

These are the heavenly creatures, not your standard earth-bound cat or dog etc.

Actually, they are two different terms describing the same thing...just like The New Jerusalem, etc, etc also describe the same place...

I came across this in another thread and had to borrow it:

Ecclesiastes 3

King James Version (KJV)

18
I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

Against its will, ALL (emphasis mine) creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. (Romans 8:20-23 NLT)
