Does anyone have advice on how to discern the will of God? How much should we go by feelings? Should a lack of peace about doing something be enough to stop us from doing it, even if there's nothing clear in the Bible against it? I have struggled with knowing if I should, for example, take a certain trip or make a certain decision, sometimes huge decisions and sometimes just tiny everyday ones. How do I know if it's my own mind, or the still small voice of God if I don't "have peace" about it?
“Does anyone have advice on how to discern the will of God? “
we want to get away from our own thoughts and fill up on Jesus thoughts in the gospel he said we need to hear and believe
“Then said Jesus to those Jews
which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and
ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
John 8:31-32 KJV
“Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me,
hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
John 5:24 KJV
The reason Jesus preached the gospel and then later sent the gospel to all people saying this
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
Mark 16:15-16 KJV
The reason we need to hear and believe the gospel is because what it actually is is the true and complete understanding of God we can know the real God when we hear and accept the gospel he sent into the world
“And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. And we know that
the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and
we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
1 John 5:19-20
the gospel is what teaches us about the son of God about God th father oit the fact that we are his children it teaches us what God thinks about all the subjects we wonder about what Jesus said in the gospel before he died is this
“He that rejecteth me, and
receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
For
I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
John 12:48-50 KJV
the thing Jesus taught most was that his words and teachings were forever and wouldn’t change or be removed he says many times over my words are life they are the words of God anyone who hears and believes will be saved my one who rejects me and doesn’t receive my words will be judged in the end by those words
at he way for anyone to understand God is to learn about Jesus and learn from Jesus in the gospel it is the understanding of the true God and salvstion he has offered to mankind
His word in the gospel is what discerns his Will fornus
“For
the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12 KJV
