was resurrected by God late Saturday afternoon
Jesus had to be resurrected after sunset (our) Saturday and before sunrise (our) Sunday.

Because He had to be resurrected some time on the day of the Feast of Firstfruits.

That sounds very much to me like it was past the Sabbath..... How do YOU read it?
Mat 28:1
And on the eve of the sabbaths, at the dawn, toward the first of the sabbaths, came Mary the Magdalene, and the other Mary, to see the sepulchre,

Jhn 20:1
And on the first of the sabbaths, Mary the Magdalene doth come early (there being yet darkness) to the tomb, and she seeth the stone having been taken away out of the tomb,

Mar 16:2
and early in the morning of the first of the sabbaths, they come unto the sepulchre, at the rising of the sun,

Mar 16:9
And he, having risen in the morning of the first of the sabbaths, did appear first to Mary the Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven demons;

This may help concerning the plural "sabbaths."

Jesus had to be resurrected after sunset (our) Saturday and before sunrise
(our) Sunday.
That won't work because an abundance of textual evidence certifies Jesus'
crucified dead body was restored to life during daytime rather than
nighttime.

» Matt 17:22-23
» Mark 9:31
» Luke 9:22
» Luke 24:5-8
» Luke 24:21-23
» Luke 24:46
» Acts 10:40
» 1Cor 15:4

* According to Gen 1:4-5, Gen 1:14, Gen 1:16, Gen 1:17-18, and John
11:9-10, Night is when the Sun is down and Day is when the Sun is up.

Bro.....that particular weekend from Friday IS LOADED WITH SABBATHS.
Actually, two.

-Passover
That was Thursday that week. Wednesday was the day of preparation.

-Saturday sabbath (just so happens to fall after this particular Passover)
Yes, that was Saturday.

-Feast of Firstfuits
-Feast of Unleavened bread

Yes...."SABBATHS" is undoubtedly correct.
Why do 98% of Bible translations have it wrong?

Wrong. Those are 24 hour days.....evening and morning. Not day like daylight.....

We DO NOT KNOW the exact hour of His resurrection from the tomb. But it definitely was before the dawning of Sunday, before Mary and the women arrived.

Odds are.....it was during the night. For lots of reasons.

As if we don't have enough aggravation around already! This jerk goes straight to
IGNORE.

Yet "this jerk" knows EXACTLY the significance the day after the Sabbath after Passover aka the Feast of Firstfruits. And how this relates to the resurrection.

Oh well......such is the advantage of "spending weekends" studying these matters......:geek:

Scriptures tell us that Yashua/Jesus would be in the heart of the earth for 3 days and 3 nights. (We must keep in mind that God’s created day begins at sundown and completes at sunset.) Scriptures also tell us He died on the Passover. This begins the 3 day, 3 night clock. God’s commanded feasts tell us that following Passover is the Feast of Unleavened bread. The 1st day of this feast is a High Holy Day (a special Sabbath). Yashua/Jesus died on Passover and His body taken down before sunset (the commencing of the High Holy Day Sabbath) and buried. He rose on the 3rd day (just prior to sundown, the weekly Sabbath) and was seen by the woman at dawn of the 1st day of the week (Sunday, which commences Saturday evening at sundown, following the Sabbath). Thursday and Saturday Sabbaths. Wednesday sundown - Saturday sundown, 3 days, 3 nights.

Mary and the women COULD have arrived during the darkness BEFORE the dawn of morning (very early), because the Saturday Sabbath had ENDED at sunset the day before. They also woild have had enough time to prepare spices, if they worked (our) Saturday night, got a little shuteye, and left very early to the tomb, probably just as the sky was barely lightening.

They could not travel between sunset Friday and sunset Saturday, the Jewish weekly Sabbath.

The point is......Jesus was resurrected AFTER the Saturday sabbath had ended, on the NEXT DAY (sunset was past, evening had begun) which was the Feast of Firstfruits. Undoubtedly AT NIGHT, before Mary arrived very early in the morning.

Jesus was resurrected at night. No doubt.

I do hold out the possibility that it WAS three whole days and nights. Definitely possible.

But many scholars say that this theory (three full days and nights) is not absolutely necessary. Partial days meaning full days is also possible.

Yep. This is definitely a possibility. One that I favor.....for the time being. But plenty of fine scholars think otherwise.

Come to think of it, partial days and nights seem baked in the cake.
I will think about it and post later.

It's a relatively simple task to provide sufficient textual evidence to show
that Jesus' crucified dead body was restored to life during the third day
rather than after the third day was over and done with.

The difficulty comes in tagging that third day because he wasn't actually
seen alive by anybody till after sunrise Sunday, although Luke 24:21-23
strongly suggests Sunday was the third day.

* There's something else.

According to Gen 1:4-5, Gen 1:14, Gen 1:16, Gen 1:17-18, and John 11:9-10,
actual days begin with sunrise. However, the first hour of the Jews' civil
days back then began at 06:00 am regardless of whether the Sun was up or
not. So, which kind of days was Jesus talking about in Matt 12:40: civil days
or actual days?

NOTE: Passover 2023 is April 5. Sunrise relative to that date in Jerusalem will
be 06:23 am.

Yes, it refers to the feast of weeks, and the many sabbaths that begun to be counted since Firstfruits. Lev. 23:15-22.

Thus that 'first [day] of the week' was actually the first day to begin counting the 7 sabbaths unto Pentecost (Shavuot / Weeks).

The translators, made it simplified ('first [day] of the week", which it was in technicality), so as not to bring confusion, but people, in their stubborness, make their own confusion from their own selves.

The Unleavened bread feast sabbath and 7th day sabbath were over the previous day, but there was another feast sabbath that would take place the following week, upon the 6th day, ending the feast of unleavened bread (Lev. 23:7-8).

1Co_15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

1Co_15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
