Short answer? We are to trust in the completed work of Jesus Christ Himself on our behalf. Nothing more nothing less.
Thank you, your short answer is all that is needed (y)(y) Considering what I've read of yours in the past, that's what I assumed that you meant (but I just wanted to be sure) :)

God bless you!

Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Jesus teaches the above quotes of Him from Matthew. If you do not understand the Word, please do not make such condemnation where they eyes may deceive the hearts of the innocent from it.
Well then let me ask you when was the last time you broke a commandment, if ever?

It is clear that whatever law that preceded the risen Lord is obsolete. So to use those
laws for your Christian faith is clearly wrong. Is it wrong to go to the old testament
for information and help, of course not, as long as the obsolete law is not involved.
.

The the letter of the law "death" is not obsolete. It works to convict ones heart daily when one awakens , causes us to turn to him who was there watching over us through the night before the breakfast awakening.

The law was not made void. But by mixing the unseen law the law of faith it is made perfect, the just the letter and the justifier the unseen spirt in the believer .Not of us but of our savior .

Apart from each other the the two laws have no power . The demonstration to do what the letter of the law (death) could not do create new spirit life is over. .

The Law of God continues to be useful to us in many important ways (though it cannot be obeyed unto salvation, of course .. e.g. Galatians 2:21, 3:21).

That said, I thought that it might be helpful to interject this summation of the law's continued usefulness to us here
(in both the lives of believers and unbelievers alike). This is referred to as the "Three-fold Use of the Law".

Scripture shows us that God intends His law to function in three ways.

Its first function is to be a mirror reflecting to us both the perfect righteousness of God and our own sinfulness and shortcomings. As Augustine wrote, “the law bids us, as we try to fulfill its requirements, and become wearied in our weakness under it, to know how to ask the help of grace.” The law is meant to give knowledge of sin (Rom. 3:20; 4:15; 5:13; 7:7-11), and by showing us our need of pardon and our danger of damnation to lead us in repentance and faith to Christ (Gal. 3:19-24).

A second function, the “civil use,” is to restrain evil. Though the law cannot change the heart, it can to some extent inhibit lawlessness by its threats of judgement, especially when backed by a civil code that administers punishment for proven offenses (Deut. 13:6-11; 19:16-21; Rom. 13:3, 4). Thus it secures civil order, and serves to protect the righteous from the unjust.

Its third function is to guide the regenerate into the good works that God has planned for them (Eph. 2:10). The law tells God’s children what will please their heavenly Father. It could be called their family code. Christ was speaking of this third use of the law when He said that those who become His disciples must be taught to do all that He had commanded (Matt. 28:20), and that obedience to His commands will prove the reality of one’s love for Him (John 14:15). The Christian is free from the law as a system of salvation (Rom. 6:14; 7:4, 6; 1 Cor. 9:20; Gal. 2:15-19, 3:25), but is “under the law of Christ” as a rule of life (1 Cor. 9:21; Gal. 6:2).”

Galatians 3
24 The Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.

For me this is a very odd question between believers based on what I have posted. These are not my words taught but those of Jesus-Yeshua. You are aqware that just before these words Yeshua teaches He has come not to destroy the law rather to fulfill it,.
We cannot follow the majority of the 611 laws for they are no more, however the remaining, those which fulfill the laws of love remain, This would include all laws which contain mercy, justice and faith.

Fulfilled meaning fulfilled prophetically. The law meaning of the entire book of the Old Testament, and again meaning fulfilled prophetically. This passage has nothing to do with us keeping the 10 commandments etc.

As long as there is a need for love, the love of God, the commandments are in effect for they are part of what love is. This cannot be denied by a renewed heart.

It depends on what is meant by "observe".
If you mean "to depend on for salvation"....then that is vanity.
Amen! Speaking of depending on the law for salvation, I was previously in a discussion with a previous member of Christian Chat who was a Seventh Day Adventist that taught "salvation by grace plus law, faith plus works." Here is a statement that he once made to me below: :cautious:

The counterfeit Gospel is out there. What is the other Gospel? It is a Gospel that tries to separate God's Law (10 commandments) from the Cross. It is a Gospel that tries to separate God's 10 commandments from the plan of salvation. God’s Law has always been part of the true Gospel of Christ. The counterfeit Gospel does not have it. God's forever Law (the 10 commandments) is the foundation of both the Old and the New Covenant and the very foundation and basis of the true Gospel of Christ.

Prophetically means in a way that correctly tells nothing more. It does not mean fulfilled .

A person cannot divide the word of God's law from the word. His word is law.it contains no philosophical theories of corrupted men

The commandment is to compare the spiritual unseen understanding from the same unseen as the "law of faith". that tales the fulness of the law, "scripture".

The new testament is a part of the old. The reformation came and the same body of believers that began the building of the church or bride of Christ with Abel the first martyr it continues to be built by faith until the last day .

The book of the law is the whole bible. The letter of the book of the law "death" it is made up of the whole law called the law and the prophets the "two witnesses" of God. They will be around until the last day .

If people refuse to hear the the two witnesses .Then they simply will not rise on the last day and receive a new body .Jesus rising would hold no value

And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Luke 16:31

Thanks Luigi, unfortunately, I may still need a bit more help from you as I remain confused about your meaning.

How does ~belief in love/belief in loving your neighbor~ fulfill the law if it is not accompanied by actual love for your neighbor (or are you saying something different altogether)

Thanks again for your help!

Sorry to get back so late to you Deuteronomy,
When I say I believe in something, it means my actions will show these qualities in which I believe. If I believe in money, my actions will show this by my attempts in acquiring it.
Likewise, if I believe in love, my actions will show this quality by what I do, including towards my neighbor.
