1. Do you think if there was any chance of those who go to the l.o.f. would at some point repent and believe, the Lord would banish them there forever?
So you think turning men's heart to the Father can be accomplished by merely inflicting pain on them? When my father inflicted sadistic punishments on me, I assure you that did not draw me closer to him. Revelation affirms that pain, even when inflicted on men by God can actually drive them away from Him:

And the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness, and men began to gnaw their tongues in anguish 11 and curse the God of heaven for their pains and sores; yet they did not repent of their deeds.…
(Revelation 16:10)
Those in the lake of fire aren't reaping what they sowed, they are being given exactly what they wanted, no God.
The wages of sin is not eternal punishment, it is death. Christ paid that price on the Cross. The lake of fire is reserved for those who will
never repent and believe.
Those whose end up in the lake of fire did not WANT to reap the consequences. They wanted to "sow to the flesh" without suffering ANY consequence. They deceived themselves into believing they would never have any penalty for it.
