1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
I suppose we should remember that we were enemies of God at one (ashamedly) point as well....

This fits Calvinism to a T. Interesting that you would post it (unless you have renounced Calvinism).
BUT THERE BE SOME THAT WOULD TROUBLE YOU
Surely many have been troubled by the question of whether they are one of the elect for salvation, or one of the elect for damnation. That would trouble simple souls, who would then have to take their eyes off Christ, and focus on themselves. Whether or not they merited salvation.
AND WOULD PERVERT THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST
TOTAL DEPRAVITY -- perverts the Gospel truth that sinners may be saved through the hearing of the Gospel under the convicting and convincing of the Holy Spirit.
UNCONDITIONAL ELECTION -- perverts the Gospel truth that God will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
LIMITED ATONEMENT -- perverts the Gospel truth that Christ died for the sins of the whole world, that he tasted death for every man, and that He is the propitiation for the sins of the whole world.
IRRESISTIBLE GRACE -- perverts the Gospel truth that even though people have been convicted by the Holy Spirit, they have resisted the Holy Spirit and refused to obey the Gospel
PERSERVERANCE OF THE SAINTS -- perverts the Gospel truth that we are kept by the power of God, and that our salvation is secure because Christ Himself is our salvation.

Christ's doctrine is hidden from most of his regenerated children <-that takes the cake for one of the most scripturally inept things I have ever seen on this site....man....you need to GO BACK to Sunday School and to a church that does not peddle Calvinism!....

You can have nothing but pity for the poster in question. He is old and does not have all his faculties. He is indicative of many who lack basic discipleship and sound teaching in the word of God. This is a widespread problem in the church today.
The church has departed from the truth of Gods word just as we are told. The consummation of the world is soon at hand.

No. Quite the opposite.
It is in agreement with scripture. Not the philosophy of people who think they save themselves by an act of their own will.
John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Well, why not? According to those who worship their own free will all they have to do is hear someone preach and then start believing by an act of their own will. "Whosoever will" they love to quote.
But the Lord Jesus says the opposite here. The Lord Jesus actually teaches total depravity.
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
When you say that the tenets of Calvinism are a perversion of the gospel you are actually arguing against the Lord Jesus Christ. You are arguing against scripture.
The TRUTH of the Gospel is that we are saved by Grace through Faith and not by our works. It is the Gift of God. Not an act of anyones will or good choices.
Just ask yourself a couple of simple questions. What was the CAUSE of me hearing that GREAT GOSPEL WORD that I needed JUST AT THE RIGHT MOMENT in order for me to Come to Christ and believe and be Saved?
What was the CAUSE of me CONTINUING to Abide in Christ and study and MAKE SURE of my Salvation that was PURELY THE GIFT OF GOD???
If your answer was "My free will and the goodness that is inside of me" then you need to continue to study. Maybe focus on Ephesians 1 for awhile and see if you come up with something.
You must not understand what Perseverance of the Saints is. You just defined it and then said your own definition was a perversion of the Gospel.
Perseverance is given by God to the saints. It is by Gods Power that we are saved and it is by Gods Power that we stay saved.
Anything else would be a contradiction of Total Depravity. Which you also don't understand.

You mean just like how you twist scripture to try and make the Atonement of Christ applied to ALL of Mankind, believers and unbelievers?
Is Salvation the Gift of GOD or does it come by your understanding the Gospel and causing yourself to believe?

I would think the gift of eternal life comes from the hand of God or will God and not from us as our seal of approval according to the wisdom of the world . The loving commandment is to study and seek after his work of faith or labor of love that he works in us. Seeking His approval . Something we work out as he daily works in us.

The ones that are not given the power to believe on his name fall way and crucify him over and over to public or worldly shame in so much that one demonstration fell short of the propmised glory .
No man can come unless the unseen father draws Him. Not literally seeing the Son of man. He has no power according to the flesh .The father worked in Him supplying the power to do the will .

You seem, to me, to be the most arrogant and self centered person on this forum, and have no interest in discussing the scriptures with an open mind. Roger does not have quite as hateful an attitude as decon, but you, also, do not have an open mind to sound doctrine.
