I don't think we understand that Christ fulfilled the law in the same way. I understand scripture to tell us that the law condemns us, explaining the sin that causes our death, and Christ saves us from that sin. Because scripture is speaking not only of the earthly ways of the Lord, but the spiritual at the same time, it means that Christ fulfilled all the prophcies spoken of Him.

What do you think it means when we are told Christ fulilled the law?
Thank you for all the marvelous work you have done, explaining.

But how could it be possible to live through Christ when to love Him is to keep His commandments if we have no commandments from Christ to follow?
Exactly (James 1:22) But be you doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Well for one, I guarantee you that both you and I and everyone who is ready this, are breaking and will continue to break the law. And if we are trying to keep the law, then it brings wrath. Remember, if you put yourself under the Law, you are bound to keep the entire law. When you break it in one place, you've broken the whole law which leads to condemnation.

Jesus fulfilled the Law completely, meeting its righteous requirements. We can't do any better than that. In God's eyes the Law has been satisfied for everyone who believes.

Hebrews 7:18-19
The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.

Hebrews 8:13
By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.

II Corinthians 3:6
He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant -- not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

2 Timothy 1:9
He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.

Don't be like the Galatians of whom Paul wrote:

O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?

Are you so foolish? After starting in the Spirit, are you now finishing in the flesh? Have you suffered so much for nothing, if it really was for nothing? Does God lavish His Spirit on you and work miracles among you because you practice the law, or because you hear and believe?

Christ freed us from the Law. Follow Christ and you will not break the law. And when and if you do, then confess it and repent. We are not under the Law.
Of course we need Chrst. We live through Christ, give ourselves entirely to Him. I have not read any scripture saying we are cursed for trying our best to obey the commands of the Lord. That is repenting, and we are to repent. We cannot repent of sin and want to sin at the same time with the idea that if we if we try to obey the commands of the Lord, the Lord sends us His wrath. Our labors, on our own without Christ, are worth nothing, but our labors through Christ is how we live on this earth.

In the parable in Matt: 25:23 23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

(Romans 3:28) Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. (Romans 3:31) Do we then make void the law through faith? GOD forbid: yea, we establish the law. (Romans 7:12) Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

I did not say keeping the commands of the Lord. This topic is about the Law vs Grace.

I also did not say anything about not repenting. Also, repentance does not mean that you are without sin. It means that your mind has changed and that you are turning from it.

Go back and read all of those scriptures that I provided in the previous posts. Read them and take them to heart. People today are doing the same thing that the Galatians other churches did. After hearing the gospel of grace through Christ, they wander back to the Law for their salvation.

Yes, we establish the law through faith in Christ, because He fulfilled it perfectly. Therefore, those who believe are credited with the Lord's fulfillment of the Law. It's done! Trust in Christ!

The bottom line is, by attempting to keep the works of the law, you're trusting in your own efforts and not in what Christ did, which will keep people out of heaven.

We are saved by grace through faith and this not by our own efforts. It is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.

Wow! The law verse grace? I can't wrap my head around such a conflict. There is absolutely no question at all about our ability to achieve grace from the Lord by the law, I don't think anyone here has one tiny doubt in their minds that they are saved by grace and not by obedience to the law. What people are debating about is whether we should try (they agree we can't do it) to keep the law as saved people who have been saved through grace. That is what I have been posting about.

If it is about law VERSE grace, it is like beating a dead horse.

The 10 commandments underpin service to Jesus in all we do. They haven't been done away with. When someone joins a church to serve in one.. the 10 commandments are the base of all the acts of service.

Look at things like looking after widows.. discipling others .. sharing the faith.. I am sure you'll find commandments directly supporting them.

The key thing tho.. is the commandments in obeying them aren't how someone is converted by Jesus. They are part of the path to walk in to follow Him once set on it.

Failing on the path doesn't undo the conversion because it wasn't following the 10 commandments that got the person converted.

So what is nailed to the cross is having to do self effort and works to be converted. But once converted, continuing faith in Jesus is thru loving Jesus and His commands.
People's understandiong of the commandments are the biggest problem. I was taught that under the old covenant the 10 commandments were a threat as in "Thou shalt NOT..."

Under the new covenant they are a promise. Because of the death of Jesus and the salvation he offers, you will not....

So you keeping two commands. Yet not following all ten because you have stumbled in some areas

according to the law you are guilty, the penalty is the curse of the law, which could only be redeemed by the blood of the lamb.

you should not come into a new thread falsly accusing people of saying things they have not said, it will not help you

Exactly (James 1:22) But be you doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
James also said if you keep the whole law yet stumble in one point your guilty

is it not better to follow the law of Christ?
