When 7seas disagrees with you and cannot persuade you to see it her way, she will typically respond with name calling.

that ol saying we are our own enemy sometimes and I was a little rude I know I’m sorry but gee if things like this is that bothering to someone why not just don’t pay any intention to it. If someone believes it’s not of God and you can’t change people’s thoughts or opinions on it just leave it alone, because it probably will cause more stress than not.

The last I heard of her, she sees herself as some kind of "forum guardian", where she thinks she is helping new believers from being taught wrongly, when they are exposed to bible interpretations that she considered as heresy.

That motivation prevents her from being able, like what you suggested, to "just leave it alone".

Why would James address the twelve tribes of Israel?
Gentiles in the church was a later happening:

1The apostles and the believers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.

18When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.”

The Church in Antioch

19Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that broke out when Stephen was killed traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, spreading the word only among Jews. 20Some of them, however, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus. 21The Lord’s hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.

Philippines Age 40
In the Church age, there is no gentile nor jew. But why did God separate jew and gentile in the tribulation? Because the Church will not be there anymore. They were raptured. When the jews come out of the tribulation they will go up in heaven. There in heaven, there is a temple just like OT times and they will worship God day and night like jewish people in the OT. (Rev 7:14-15)

But the (Christians/Church/Bride/Holy City/New Jerusalem) will go down from heaven. In the new jerusalem, there will be no temple because the Lord and the Lamb is the temple. No Jewish activity whatsoever. (rev 21:2 & 22)

In the Church age we are one but in the future, God will separate Israel from the Church.

well believe or not I can appreciate that but to express that to the point of getting bent is beyond helping I know all to well I too get bent to often and I am not happy about that in myself. I am going to work on that biting my tongue cause I need to for my own sanity

The whole division found between Jews and Gentiles in this thread contradicts the N.T.....there is neither Jew nor Gentile in Christ...the two have become one..... ;)
well we haven't had a 'my truth is better than scripture' thread in a while, what with all the Calvinist debates, so the new decade must have offered an opportunity to those so inclined

I’ve quoted Scripture all throughout my posts, comparing scripture to scripture.
you gotta be a hyper pauline.

Nobody else would waste time attempting to discredit the word of God.

You guys stop just short of idolitry
Just short of publishing a bible with Pauls words in red.

The church started out Jewish. Then later (about 10 years?), to the surprise of the Jews, it was Jewish with gentile converts. Now it's almost entirely gentile. No surprise that James would address the church in his time as the twelve tribes of Israel scattered throughout the world. But one thing is for sure, the message is no different for the Jew than it is for the gentile. There is now only the one new body of Christ.

15by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man" - Ephesians 2:15

There is no distinction between Jew and gentile in the church that would somehow make James' letter inapplicable in any way to the gentiles who came into the church later.

Read Acts 21:20-25 to see the major distinction between these 2.

I would expect any Jew to be zealous for the law after they get born again. If you have ever known any saved Jews you'd see that they are very zealous for the law. Which is great. God bless 'em. But let's revisit the verse I gave you:

"15by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man" - Ephesians 2:15 " - Ephesians 2:15

This time the first half of the verse is highlighted.
In Christ, the law is no longer the hostile dividing wall between Jew and Gentile. There are no laws that Jews have to keep that gentiles don't have to. We can sit side by side in a Bible study and it would apply equally.

Well, you made a claim that there was no distinction, I showed you a passage from Acts that showed James and the elders believing otherwise.

Once you combined that realization with another, that the book of James was written way before Acts 21, it becomes clearer what James was actually saying in James 2.

Discredit the word of God? Why go there? Remember, I’m one of those believers who trust every word to be pure. I have learned to rightly divide the word of truth, especially doctrines to the Jews, Gentiles and Church.

The Twelve tribes however, always refers to the entire nation, never Christians from that nation.

So why the address to the twelve tribes if James is not writing to the whole nation of Israel?
