Why did God write to the king at Belshazzars feast?

Can anyone explain Belshazzar's feast where the hand of God writes on the wall in front of everyone? He obviously writes in Hebrew so only Daniel could read it, but why?

Also why not do the same thing when writing the Bible and let people actually see him writing it? What if he did that today?
 
The original writings of Daniel are in Aramaic and Old Hebrew, that is to say, Biblical Hebrew.

It is said that Daniel wrote the first half in Aramaic because he was yet in captivity in Babylon, while he penned the other half after his return to Israel in Hebrew.

Ergo, it is most likely the writing on the wall was in Aramaic.

God would be communicating only through the Hebrew prophet Daniel. The sacrilege was so blasphemous that execution of Belshazzar was the only remedy. A warning to all.

The writing on the wall was in Royal Hebrew....reserved for the Torah and the King's court in Jerusalem.

Belshazzar was drinking wine out of the Temple Golden chalices and bowls to the gods of stone and wine....knowing full well what he was doing....defiling the Jewish people's God. All while surrounded by the Medo-Persian Empire troops. He thought that the Babylonian walls were impenetrable.

At this time Daniel was in retirement. No longer desired by the king. And the king had to sober up quickly because of the apparition he saw and the writing God's finger wrote. "Waist grew slack" is a euphemism that his bowels vacated all contents into the kings pants.

This part of the book is a continuation of Aramaic instead of Royal Hebrew as is the first part and the last part. Except for the writing on the wall.

However, this was predicted by Isaiah.
I wonder if Daniel met Darius with the letter to Cyrus from Isaiah. And since Babylon was so large it likely took three days before everyone actually knew that the city had changed hands.

Of course he was.
My reason for posting probably needs an explanation. The Holy Spirit completed the Scriptures, so the need for God to audibly speak to mankind or provide a personal message written upon a wall or elsewhere is no longer necessary. I think that blue Luna's last two questions are best addressed by the miracle of the impeccable written record provided to the entire world. Ie. I John 5:11
It is now complete, proven and provided to everyone.
 
The "hand of God"
"Finger of God"

Became a synecdoche.

A fancy poetic term for a part meaning a whole. Meaning "God sets up leaders or deposed them".

As in ".....then the finger of God is among you"

But in Daniel it is a man's hand. In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. This was possibly an angel, since angels generally took the form of men and angels generally communicated with Daniel.
