Well, if one looks the Protestant Reformers were clear on who they saw as the Bible said was antichrist and as 'the' Antichrist in prophecy. They explicitly identified the pope or the papacy with Antichrist. Martin Luther called the papacy “the kingdom of Babylon and of the true Antichrist” and repeatedly labeled the pope “the very Antichrist” in works such as 'Babylonian Captivity of the Church' where he critiqued the sacramental system of the Roman Catholic church.

Bottom line, no other flesh but Son's ever has pleased God Father for us all.
Put trust personally in risen Son. read the word if led to to hear truth from Father of love and mercy from Father and Son for us all. Over all the errors hear in the world still 1 John 2:27

The evangelical protestants are an interesting people. They hail Martin Luther as a hero of the faith, yet Luther would disagree with them on many core issues and Luther considers them to be heretics. "Re-baptizers" since Luther believed in infant baptism, AND that baptism saves. The guys who invented the "Sola fide" slogan believed baptism saves, thats right.

Im writing this to make a point that many protestants would disagree on a number of things with these guys, why not the identity of the antichrist as well?

I agree the pope is a wicked office and many popes have been evil. But the antichrist is a singular man, not a succession of men.
2 Thessalonians 2:4 makes that clear in my view.

The truth is, no one knows except God. He is not saying. As John says, there were many antichrists even in his day. God will not reveal the antichrist because He will give people the choice to accept or reject the antichrist.

People flock to a man who promises great things with charm and eloquence. Look at how successful Mr Trump has been. He could see that many Americans felt ignored by government. The "deplorables" had the last laugh. Yet now the gloss is wearing off.

God will not share his glory with another. Will people ever learn that it is not men who make a nation great but God?

The Pope will not be the antichrist.

But he will be the false prophet.

Head of the unified religious system representing the new age christianity.

With all religions interpreted the same by the new age.

It is obvious when the Roman Empire embraced Christianity they did not get rid of their pagan and occult ways which became their foundation for interpreting scriptures.

Because of that they can sway to go along with the world as they change.

And they will end up believing a different interpretation of the Bible based on the occult and paganism.

The antichrist will be of the new age.

1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

The new age will come out at the latter times the last days of the last days.

The new age interprets the Bible and religions according to the occult and evolution, and people will evolve to be spiritual, and greater, and Jesus became an ascended master among others, and there is no personal God, but they honor the God of forces or the power of the Cosmos, and the New Age Christ will be the next world teacher.

2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

The time will come that people will not want to hear the truth of the Bible but want to hear it according to their own lusts to believe they will be exalted to be greater.

Instead of believing a God will exalt them to have eternal life they will believe the next evolutionary process will exalt them.

When the antichrist starts working in the world he will push the agenda of the new age for 3.5 years to prepare the world for when he claims to be God the most exalted human being and accept his system.

The Pope and Vatican will embrace the new age christianity and support the New Age Christ for the 3.5 years.

Dan 7:3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.

Daniel had a dream and visions of 4 kingdoms that would come one after the other and would operate differently than each.

Which are the 4 ways of people and even though all 4 kingdoms operated by all 4 ways one of those ways was their chief mode of operation.

Dan 7:4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.

Babylon- represents human wisdom, the occult, the kingdom of man.

King Nebuchadnezzar acknowledged the God of Israel as the greatest God which they rode on eagle's wings.

His Son became king and blew it.

Eagle's wings were plucked.

Known as the kingdom of man.

Dan 7:5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

Medo-Persia- physical cruelty in war and zealous to conquer.

Dan 7:6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

Greece- human wisdom.

Dan 7:7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

The Roman Empire-pushing for territory, world domination.

Dan 7:23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

The 10 horns that come from them is the world divided in to 10 sections with a leader in each section that shall cover the earth.

Which they will do because of the new age plan.

Dan 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

The antichrist comes from the 10 horns who come from the Roman Empire.

Dan 7:11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

The Roman Empire does not lose their dominion until Jesus puts down the world.

Which is the European nations, nations taken over by Europeans, and Russia.

Which is to put their new age plan in motion.

Dan 7:12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

Babylon, Medo-Persia, and Greece, will never have physical dominion again but their ways are still on earth.

And all 4 ways show up at the beast kingdom.

Rev 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

Rev 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

All 4 kingdoms chief mode of operation the kingdom of man in its entirety.

The 10 horns with the physical dominion the Roman Empire.

The beast kingdom is Babylon in spirit for she will never have physical dominion again.

Which her ways are what the beast kingdom is about in their religious ways that deceive the people.

Dan 2:33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.

Dan 2:42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.

The same 4 kingdoms but 3 are known as gold, silver, and brass.

And the Roman empire as iron like in chapter 7.

The feet, 10 toes is the same as the 10 horn kingdom.

Which the 4 kingdoms do not fall until Jesus hits the feet the beast kingdom.

Since the Roman Empire does not lose their dominion until Jesus puts down the world.

And it is the new age plan.

Then their religious system the Roman Catholic Church will go along with the new age.

But the Pope will not be the antichrist but the false prophet and be the head of a unified religious system representing the new age christianity with all religions interpreted the same.

And the Vatican the headquarters.

The antichrist will be a man with only one appearing.

If the Reformers believed the Papacy was the antichrist it would not be true.

For every Pope cannot be the antichrist.

And if only back then and coming up it cannot be.

Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

And if they think the beast kingdom is back years ago along with the antichrist it is not true.

For the beast has power over all the earth which is in the future.

Dan 11:21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

Dan 11:36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

The antichrist.

Dan 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Dan 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

After it talks about the vile person it says it is the time of trouble that has not been on earth before.

And the time of Israel's deliverance and the resurrection.

So the antichrist is in the future.

The time will come that people will not want to hear the truth of the Bible but want to hear it according to their own lusts to believe they will be exalted to be greater.

The antichrist comes from the 10 horns who come from the Roman Empire.

But the Pope will not be the antichrist but the false prophet and be the head of a unified religious system representing the new age christianity with all religions interpreted the same.

All that is needed to fool many is a man saying all the right words who harbors a vile heart. In reality, most will vote for comfort and to save their own hoard of belongings.

The evangelical protestants are an interesting people. They hail Martin Luther as a hero of the faith, yet Luther would disagree with them on many core issues and Luther considers them to be heretics. "Re-baptizers" since Luther believed in infant baptism, AND that baptism saves. The guys who invented the "Sola fide" slogan believed baptism saves, thats right.

Im writing this to make a point that many protestants would disagree on a number of things with these guys, why not the identity of the antichrist as well?

I agree the pope is a wicked office and many popes have been evil. But the antichrist is a singular man, not a succession of men.
2 Thessalonians 2:4 makes that clear in my view.

I used to have conversations with some people from a 'Reformed' background some years ago, they identified themselves as 'Sola Scriptura' then tried to sell me on the Westminster Confession, their catechism and excerpts from various church councils. Much of the doctrine and practice of these church councils they would not agree with. I found it rather hard to understand. If they were 'Sola Scriptura' I thought a lot of what they taught would be untenable.

There was a famous Scottish Presbyterian writer from two generations ago called the Rev William Barclay. I read his book where the was trying to argue that there is no such thing as a demon, rather mental illness. He had a convoluted explanation of the Gadarene swine where Jesus apparently healed someone of mental illness then drowned thousands of pigs to convince the man that he had been healed of mental illness. For 'demon' read mental illness. Angels are the resurrection could be quite iffy too, some Presbyterian speakers I have heard say we're perhaps bound for heaven rather than a resurrection.

My personal opinion would be that quite often someone from a 'Reformed' background might use the same term as you but possibly might have a slightly different understanding of what this term means, the understanding would have to be teased out. 'Anti-Christ' being one such term. The same term might be used but with a different meaning. So I agree with your point.

I agree with you. We need to haxe a lighter hand with our things. I think that can be difficult, because most people worked and earned those things. It's not so much the things themselves, but the hard work and effort put into those things.

I'll pray for all of us that we let go of all these well-earned things when the time comes.

That's something to consider, that the antichrist might have some ancestral connection with the tribe of Dan. I wonder how we'll be able to verify that, but if God wants us to know, He'll let us know somehow.

It was said that Hitler had Jewish ancestry on his mother's side, so I don't find this hard to believe that the final antichrist might have some Jewish background. There's also the Bible verses that hint he might have Assyrian blood too. It will all get clearer as the time gets closer.
