Forgiveness -
is like the scent a violet leaves on the heel of the person who stepped on it .
- mark twain

Mark Twain was a depressing fellow but that's a good quote. Thanks for sharing, Powemm. :)

think if it this way theo ....
Imagine you stepped on something precious and didn't know it ...
you move on just fine but what you stepped on is damaged.
The scent of that damage is on your heel....
but the damaged thing you've stepped on has forgiven you ..
Like gods mercy and grace is towards us ..
We are forgiven sometimes never realizing the significance And beauty of it ..

deep thinkers usually bore the world tin tin :) while the world is moving at lightening speed ..
true beauty is just putting it's shoes on ..

I would say that forgiveness is Jesus died on a cross for our sins and cleansed us of all unrighteousness. That is what God did for us and is the ultimate expression of forgiveness. As for that quote, from Mark Twain, until you explained I was also confused. God bless.

And since Jesus lives "in us".. When we are damaged by another He is the one that heals us , then works outwardly in that healing so we may also forgive as He has forgiven us .. That is the beauty behind this post :)

I really rather enjoyed reading this short quote and the threads following it. No rude arguments and everyone was all so laid back. I love it! Great quote too! (:

Was it a metaphoric poem? I never smelled a violet leaf... Although I guess the guilt someone might feel after crashing those flowers (I haven´t seen outside a pot / can).

Perfect forgiveness to me is .,, (let's say I stepped on you "Not realizing i did", I go on about my way.. Your kindness of not mentioning my fault to me , but treating me with continued kindness and forgiving me, "in the middle"
If my crushing you.. To me is the beauty and essence of forgiveness towards people .,

I like everyone's insight .. Thanks for discussing it so pleasantly ..
