I went straight from the normal American garbage diet to carnivore in Aug 2023. I lost 100lbs within a year. Went from 270 to 170. I feel amazing. Solved a few issues like snoring, plantar fasciitis, bleeding gums, and joint pain. My skin is as smooth as it was when I was a kid. I started running in Jan 2024 and ran my first marathon distance by October that year I think it was. It’s not for some people I guess. I eat 1-2 meals a day and a 2-3 day fast is easy if I’m traveling or whatnot. But anyways I’m now 42 and still feel good and still at the same weight. I’ve tried adding fruit in a couple times but it’s too delicious and easy to just grab and eat. My diet would turn into an almost all fruit diet and the sweet cravings returned. So fruits out for me and I could care less for vegetables anyway.

I look at my diet now as eating what God provides. We as humans think we can take what He provides and make it better. This is mostly because of the love for money. Throw some sugar in it and sell more. Throw some preservatives in it and make it last longer til it sells. I look at fruit and vegetables as seasonal and geographical foods. People in Alaska aren’t eating fresh fruit. People on the equator are eating apples. Because of greenhouses, chemicals, and shipping you can eat a banana in the winter in Antarctica now. Should you? Probably not. Pretend you are hunting and growing everything you eat. Eat the vegetables and fruit when they’re in season and hunt all year.

Plus there’s genesis 9:3.

Since you mention Genesis 9:3, read it.

All the animals, birds, and fish will live in fear of you. They are all placed under your power. Now you can eat them, as well as green plants; I give them all to you for food. (Gen 9:2-3, GNB92)

Jesus fed the 5000 using "barley loaves" with the fish., John 6:9ff

In the dietary laws of the Hebrew Bible, particularly in Leviticus 11, the Israelites are given rules about clean and unclean animals, but there is no such restriction on plant-based foods.

I suggest researching the risks of “fad diets”, in place of a balanced diet over the long term. When I hear and read of such testimonies about various issues, spiritual and otherwise, I use great caution.

Carnivore is not a fad diet. People have been doing it for years. How do you think people in super cold climates survive where plants can’t be grown? It just eating natural food. I never said that green plants were bad. There are however problems with many plants we eat that are bad for humans. Hence why we have to cook most of them. God gave all living things their own defense mechanisms. With animals it is usually speed, camouflage, sharp teeth or claws, etc. with plants it’s a chemical defense mechanism a majority of the time. This is why we can’t eat Al lot of plants raw. And there are many that we can’t eat at all. Any of the plants you buy in the grocery store have genetically modified over the years and most also contain other chemicals. Even fruit, which is usually not as bad since the plant actually want those to be eaten and spread by animals, are coated with chemicals so that they are preserved in the store longer.

Bread in many countries isn’t that bad. Most of the bread in the states is terrible. Again that all starts with the fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in the growing process then continues into the bleaching and chemicals used during processing for human consumption. I can assure you that you won’t find bread anywhere near what Jesus created in any store.

I’ve heard that term “balanced diet” thrown around my entire life but I’ve never heard one single person tell me what a balanced diet consists of. I guess there would be many factors that play into a balanced diet: geographical location, time of the year, precipitation rates, and many more. My balanced diet currently consists of about 2lbs of red meat, some eggs, some butter, and water. I do my own research and testing. I eat something and see how it affects me. I’ve felt better for the last couple years than I have on any diet my entire life. I eat til I’m full every time. My weight is constant. My energy is constant. There’s no research out there for eating this way that says it causes any bad. It’s not for everyone though. I believe everyone should try their own ways and eat based of how it makes them feel.

Australia has much better food than America. We have severe restrictions on pesticide use and there is regular testing. Bread here has a much lower sugar content. No, you won't find bread like the times of the NT. Bread also does not grow mouldy after a day or so. If people worried less, their health would improve enormously.

Agree. Most countries have better food than the states. It’s all about the dollar here so whatever they can add to food make more money, they pay off the politicians and do it. The more restricted countries usually have way healthier food. And the poorer so called third world countries often have the healthiest foods as they usually can’t afford the chemicals. The best fruit and meat I’ve ever had were in a small village in Nigeria. The food looked different and tasted better.

Worrying and stress definitely play into overall health also.

Congratulations on your amazing accomplishments.
There's a lot we can all learn from success stories like these.

I've studied various diets all of my life. My personal views are that there's not a one size fits all style of eating. I could write a book or at least a blog on this, but will just add this.

Different people have different dietary needs. There's differences in:

*Growth
*Ages
*Gestation
*Injuries
*Emotional and physical stressors
*Athletic demands
*Sexes
*Microbiome
Etc

We all have different needs at various stages, so one diet won't work all the time.
That's good that carnivore was what you needed.
There are various kinds of carnivores and so it can get complicated.
I just took a nutrition class from another fitness coach to see how he achieved his goals. In 5-20 years he may adapt to changing demands. His diet seemed reasonable for athletes around his stage of life.

When did you begin your motivation to become fit?
What were keys to staying consistent?

I began for a few different reasons. The loss of my father a few years ago was one of those. I didn’t want my children to lose me because of me being unhealthy. Another reason was my children. I didn’t want to not be able to do fun outdoor activities with them. Saying no I can’t zip line with you because I’m over the weight limit was something I never wanted to say. And the third reason would be that if my body was to house the Spirit of the Creator of the universe, I figured I should clean the house.

I initially tried keto but the whole counting carbs and keeping track of all of it was too much for me. Carnivore simplified all that. Just eat til you’re full. I never like vegetables much anyways so giving them up was also easy.

Staying consistent in the beginning was mainly the weight loss. After I lost the majority of the weight I realized that my motivation was temporary. I think this is why a lot of people have the ups and downs in a fitness journey or really any journey. If your motivation is temporary than the product will be temporary. I shifted my focus towards keeping up His temple. Now the motivation was eternal.

But then came into play other issues that I didn’t think about at first. IDOLATRY. I realized that the running had started to become my idol. I had begun to focus more on it than God. I took a few month break to get my focus back where it should be. Instead of listening to a running podcast and nerding out over my Garmin stats after a run, I now use the time for prayer and don’t even record most runs.

Those are some mighty good motivational incentives.
I know what it's like to lose a father you love so much. There's a lot of things that I look forward to doing when we see each other again.
Your children have those special life connecting events with the Dad who loves them with all his heart. I know this because it's not easy to change the most pleasurable habit, eating tasty food, in life so you can actively join them in fun recreation. They know you love them lots. My Dad gave up some strong habits for me too. I'll never forget that.

I'm reminded of a scene from a movie that illustrated this in part.

I've never eaten Kangaroo. There are for sure a lot. In some areas, Kangaroos really do wander around residential areas.

You do need a licence to hunt kangaroos. We have all kinds of feral animals here as well.

I was born a few years after the end of WW2. There was still a small degree of rationing. It may seem strange, but the health of the average Briton improved during the war.
