For a long time I had habitually viewed pornography and masturbated. I didn't see it as a bad thing. I thought that I wasn't hurting anyone else, and I enjoyed it.

There came a time when my wife admitted that she had sex with another man twice in our bed. I have only had sex one time with one other person, before my wife and I were together.

I was very hurt and angry from her confession, and I sought to get even. I joined an online dating site. I had conversations with a few women, and one conversation progressed very smoothly.

I told that woman my reasoning and intentions, just to have an affair limited to two occasions. She said she felt she would be perfect for my desire. We exchanged phone numbers, and even photographs.

All seemed to be going accordingly, and we each were growing very eager to finally meet up. Three days before our planned encounter, she stated offhandedly that you only live once.

I replied by denying her statement. I told her that our bodies may die but that our spirits will have a second opportunity to live. That is when I heard in my thoughts, Thou shalt not commit adultery.

The Holy Sprit turned my heart away from sin. I told the woman that I could not cheat on my wife because those words kept repeating in my head, and I felt very uncomfortable with the idea of willingly sinning.

Those words also started to ring in my head when I thought to view pornography and to masturbate. I wouldn't boast that I am cured of carnal desires or that I do not encounter temptation, but the Holy Spirit warns me of temptation, and when I listen to that voice of Truth and not my own voice of reason then I am lead by Jesus down the straight path.

This is my example of how God has helped me to overcome temptation. Thank you Jesus.
