Many sincere people within the Roman Catholic Church truly love God and seek to serve Him. But as followers of Christ, we must “prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21). When we test Catholic doctrine against the King James Bible, several contradictions appear that cannot be ignored.
1. Authority
The Call to Return to God’s Word
The true Church is not a denomination or institution — it is the body of believers redeemed by the blood of Christ. Jesus said:
Let us test every doctrine by Scripture alone — not tradition, not emotion, but the unchanging Word of God.
For the Word of God stands forever, and it alone reveals the way of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1. Authority
- Catholic teaching: Church tradition and the Magisterium (Pope and bishops) hold equal or greater authority than Scripture.
- KJV Scripture:
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine…” (2 Timothy 3:16–17)
God’s Word alone is the final authority — not councils or papal decrees.
- Catholic teaching: Salvation comes through faith plus works, sacraments, and the Church.
- KJV Scripture:
“For by grace are ye saved through faith… not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8–9)
The Bible teaches salvation by grace alone through faith in Christ alone — not by rituals or church membership.
- Catholic teaching: Mary is called “Mediatrix” and “Co-Redemptrix,” receiving prayers and intercession.
- KJV Scripture:
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy 2:5)
Jesus Christ alone bridges the gap between God and humanity.
- Catholic teaching: Sins must be confessed to a priest for absolution.
- KJV Scripture:
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.” (1 John 1:9)
Only God forgives sin; no human mediator is needed.
- Catholic teaching: A place of purification after death, where souls are cleansed before entering heaven.
- KJV Scripture:
“Absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8)
There is no mention of purgatory — the believer’s soul goes immediately to be with Christ.
- Catholic practice: Prayers before statues, relics, and images.
- KJV Scripture:
“Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image… thou shalt not bow down thyself to them.” (Exodus 20:4–5)
God forbids any form of veneration through images.
