The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is currently hemorrhaging believers for several reasons. The predominant reason is that they are discovering the truth about the foundations of their church especially their founder and prophet Joseph Smith for two reasons. First, the meticulous documentation of every event that has occurred within the church beginning with Joseph Smith's youth. Second, the inexhaustible proliferation of information now available on the internet. Ultimately, they are finding out the truth that has been hidden purposely by church leadership throughout all of these years. Sadly, after you have been taught that your church is the only true church, discovering that it is a false church, there is no other alternative but to become an atheist Since now there are no true churches anywhere in existence.

Having said this we are seeing the same scenario occurring within the evangelical church in America. True believers are abandoning the church. I believe, the following short video by Voddie Baucham best describes why this is occurring.

Yesterday as I watched a Netflix documentary about the church 'La luz del Mundo ' I learned that the city of Guadalajara Mexico is the most religious (Catholic) followed by another sect Luz del Mundo and they found out about the church leader and he is now in jail in LA

I was approached in the street by done lovely young evangelist types , they asked the usual questions about my faith etc , we had a very brief chat and they seemed lovely but then , the young lady started to talk about their minister , how he was doing wonderful things and that he is a great prophet etc . Instant turn off for me . I'm not into the cult of personality , I'm into God and Jesus and the Bible . Trying to impress me by saying your minister is a prophet and a healer etc , I don't need a prophet and a healer , I already have one ! And he's perfect ! I just want to b around other people who love the Bible and enjoy talking about it with each other .

Can you summarize Baucham's reasons? I don't really want to watch a 37-minute video without having some idea of where he's going. Thanks.

If you don't want to watch a 37 minute video that is extremely impactful on the evangelical church in America then summarizing would also be a waste of my time and would obviously accomplish nothing since my time is as valuable as yours. Thank you for your response.

If it's that impactful, I think you would jump at the chance to get a dialog going about it. Clearly it must not be as impactful as you suggest.

If you asked.them if Joseph Smith was their prophet, I can guess they would light up at the name.

If they had name tags, were young and called themselves "Elders", they were Mormons. Mormonism is the most active cult in America. I met a group of them last week at a local hospital.

I plan to share the gospel with two of them this weekend at that hospital while making visits. I do not recommend anyone ever meeting with them because the Bible forbids even letting them into our homes.
My purpose is to lead them to Christ in a public setting to truly share good news/ evangelism. To do this, I must lead the conversation as Paul did to the Pagans. They are essentially a Polytheistic (ie Pagan-like) religion that masquerades as Christian.

PS:. 😄. I just checked the title and read the OP. I should have done that first. You already knew these were Mormons. I already posted before proofreading, which is a common fault...ran out of time, so ....

Glad you are aware of them.
See Galatians 1.
2 John 1:10

My purpose is to lead them to Christ in a public setting to truly share good news/ evangelism. To do this, I must lead the conversation as Paul did to the Pagans. As long as Paul was the one teaching, it is God's plan.
However, permitting false doctrinal influence of others upon self, church/ family is strictly forbidden. Most of the epistles have warnings.
I see it all the time and it breaks my heart because people I invested much time, work and love in have fallen for false preachers, even on the forum.

You might already know this.
They are essentially a Polytheistic (ie Pagan-like) religion that masquerades as Christian.

I have to wonder why anyone, including and perhaps especially someone like Voddie, calls Mormons "true believers."

And then to say there is no alternative but to become an atheist after realizing LDS are a cult? That's a non sequitur.

I appreciate your question, but only listened to around 5 minutes of the AI Broddie then decided it not worthy of my time.

7Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.

The preacher made 90% true statements to give credit where due.
Then he used his spin on them to turn others from attending church (assembling together under Biblical structure and teaching.)

I have attended churches like he described. I've also attended good churches. First, there are no perfect churches. I'm sure that Broddie does not attend one, even if he thinks his is found alone in his prayer closet.
None of us are perfect yet and neither are assemblies of many imperfect Broddies.

The apostles were correcting churches they established by their epistles.
Jesus corrects churches in the first chapter of the most judgemental and harsh book of the Bible.

It can be difficult finding a Biblically based assembly in many places. If we can find one within driving distance that has a saved pastor who does not teach heresy, we are fortunate.
Most do not, but we should seek one.

As far as Mormons go, they are lost and need to repent of their false religion of works salvation and a false god in which there is no hope..
They need to place their faith in the true triune God of the only Bible; specifically the Only Begotten Son Jesus Who is Not the brother of Satan.

From what I gather, the Mormons who leave their religion are not doing so because they are choosing the true living God of the Bible and His Son Jesus. They are leaving once they realize their religion is false, but continue to believe that all churches are false too, as taught to them all their lives. My opinion is that they are jumping out of the frying pan of Mormonism into the fire of atheism.
That is why I wish to lead a couple Mormons to Christ. It's one of the hardest groups to reach, but I will try.

I agree.
Oh wait.
I should check that comic strip to make sure I got the big word right.

I've just started this, but I suspect an audio deep fake of Baucham's voice.

As a Christian apologist and having studied Mormonism for over 20 years as well as having many Mormon friends and being involved in formal debates with Mormons, my best advice to you in witnessing to Mormons is to know exactly what they believe and why they believe before trying to convert them. First, just get to know them by gleaning information about their introduction and involvement into Mormonism And build a relationship with them By just showing the love of Jesus Christ and how the real Jesus Christ has influenced your life.

Concerning your comments about Voddie. We at times all fall into a trap of attacking the messenger and not the message,
We make ad homonym attacks on the character, personality, demeanor or other personal idiosyncrasies. Almost always without doing our homework and knowing very little about the messenger. You might want to check out Voddie's vitae online.

The data can be denied And the facts can be glossed over however, The fact remains there are many Christ followers who have a deep passion to give back and actively be involved In using their God given spiritual gifts by providing the ministry of the Gospel to lost souls in our society. The job of ministry belongs to the members of the church body and the leadership of the church's responsibility is to cast the vision and provide the resources so that every member in the church is actively involved in the ministry.

Whoever this is (or whatever it is reading) speaks of prophecy... hearing God's voice without an intermediary....The elect leaving out of revelation.... When you've felt his presence.... That doesn't sound like Voddie Bauchum, IMHO. 'The elect'-- yes. A negative comment about a praise band, maybe.

Sounds like more like a Charismatic house church person's commentary, or maybe an apologetic for being a 'none'.

You can read my last post. He says the same thing over and over again a different way. He talks about church programs as a substitute for a genuine faith, something sacred missing in the systems, community being a cage, feeling closer to God in private prayer or reading scripture, and describes this stuff as a sign of maturity. Other people think you lost your way... etc. He's got about 2 minutes worth of material restated over and over again.

I don't agree with it. There might be a bit of truth to it. Programs and religion can be restrictive in some cases, but it is better to have spirituality AND fellowship with others.

Here is a video with this preacher's name on it with a title that says that God chose you to be a billionaire. That definitely doesn't sound like Voddie Bauchum. I just listened to the opening part. It sounds more like a 'motivational speaker' than Joel Osteen.
