‘THE HEAVENLY NEW JERUSALEM’ 12/10/2
“Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the Lord. For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.” Jer. 2:11-13.
I do not doubt that a literal city will come down out of the sky: I do not doubt that we will inhabit it with Christ on Earth for a thousand years. But like many things in the book of Revelation – I believe this city has a two-fold meaning.
Nothing will enter us that will cause offence or lies. There will be no more darkness or night again in us. The Lamb of God will be enthroned in us. He will be our light. We will be His Holy temple – His betrothed… if we will truly receive Him.
We are so consumed with the physical and appearances that we have neglected the reality of being with Jesus in the Spirit. Our spirits are very lonely in this world – without that felt reality of His Spirit – not just in Truth and Power – but in Glory and Presence.
The greatest quality of Heaven won’t be that of a physical paradise – although it will be that… but that of knowing Christ fully in our spirits. We don’t even know what that means, until we are submerged in Him and remain in Him. We will be His literal representations on Earth – His Holy temple who people will come to, to worship Him.
We have no idea about what it means to be with our God – or what Heaven is really about. We are such earthly-minded creatures that we often think as the world does. To be given the fountain of the water of life refers to having Jesus Himself come into His garden – His beloved.
The water of life is so important in the Bible – because Jesus is meant to be that well-spring bubbling up unto Life Everlasting. But it is not in many of us.
“O Lord, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters. Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise. Behold, they say unto me, Where is the word of the Lord? let it come now.” Jer. 17:13-15.
There are many people whose destinies are to dwell in Hell and in the Lake of Fire for their rejection of God. Let us not be counted in their number. Let us choose this day to make God our Lord – to serve Him alone. One day all of us will know Whom we have believed – or not believed. There are many people whose destinies have been to live in outer darkness; to torment and test us as they do unbelievers. “But ye are come unto Mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the first-born, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect.” Heb. 12:22,23.
The human race wouldn’t receive their God when He walked in the Garden of Eden and offered us His truth and grace to cover our shame. We weren’t ready to receive His Son in the flesh when “He came unto his own, and his own received him not.” -John 1:11.
Most of us are still not ready for Him. To have our names written in Heaven – we also need to have our names written in His Book. (Read my message entitled ‘DOOMSDAY OF THE HOLY TRIUNE GOD’ for an indication of what this is.) “And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life slain from the foundation of the world.” Rev. 13:8.
Those of us who don’t fully embrace the Book of Life will also worship the Dragon who will soon become manifest in the world. Our theoretical knowledge of God will not be enough to defend us against the increase of demonic deception and strong delusion soon to inundate the world. We need to begin walking out the reality of the scriptures, and desiring to practice what life will be like in that Holy City.
This means a whole-hearted life for our Heavenly Bridegroom – and desiring His fiery love more than life. It means the willingness to face our fear of our own death. It means that we do not give into the despair that the world perpetuates to discourage our dependency upon The Word of God.
This is the call of Jesus in this darkening hour: to renounce all loyalty and ties to Satan, the world, and their ways… to walk within His Spirit of Truth and Love: “Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love it would utterly be condemned.” S.O.S 8:6,7.
Many of us are trying to give the substance of our house to God to earn His love – but not our whole body, mind, and spirit. “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” 1 Cor. 6:19,20.
We do this best through our worship: and we do this worship properly by feeding ourselves and others with the Word of God – unfiltered, undiluted, and unreservedly. We can only do this by reading and living it wholeheartedly. We can only do this by loving Him as The Word of God. We do not believe what the Bible says by our own understanding – but by a willing spirit. This means a choice to let Him burn up our dross – all our worldly attachments through complete surrender to Him.
