It is my belief that the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Paul, (1 Cor. 15:1-4) is not a doctrine of itself, but the foundation on which all doctrine is built. Salvation is not found in doctrine, it's found in the Gospel message that Paul preached, along with the other apostles and many others.
We can be wrong about doctrine but if we get Jesus right, the Gospel that is, we are the born-again of God.
Paul tells us in 1 Cor. 3:10-11,
"According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."
Paul is telling us here that Christ (Jesus Christ crucified for the sins of the world) is the foundation. This is referring to the Gospel message. Then he tells us to be careful what we build on that foundation, for there is only one foundation to build on.
We all have our doctrinal differences but we had better make sure that those doctrines are built on the foundation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If not, you have ship-wrecked before you ever leave the harbor!
If that foundation is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ whatever doctrines you teach are worthless! You have lost everything!
