just asking for some advice from you good people,i have just become a christian.i want purchase the bible.is it true the king james is the best version?.thankyou.

Welcome, so glad to hear you've decided to follow Christ! Personally, for a new believer, I think the KJV would be a horrible choice. The NKJV or the NIV would be a lot better, in my opinion..

You can go to BibleGateway.com and they have online bibles in almost every translation there is! You could look at some different translations and see what you like.

Take a look at the NLT version. It's very easy to understand.

The KJV is what I cut my teeth on and it just might be the most accurate translation. I also like the NKJV

I was raised on the KJV; it's a pretty solid translation.

Other good ones are the (1984) NIV, NKJV, ESV and NLT.

Howdy and welcome to the forum.

There are many free Bible apps for your smartphone. A lot of them can load multiple versions of the Bible and they can display the same verse from all the versions you have loaded, so you can compare different versions of II Kings 3:1.

Congratulations 👏 🙂📖👍
I'm happy you are now a Christian.

I would buy a large print King James Bible with no study notes.
Pass on anything called a "Study Bible" because it will have a stranger's commentary throughout and they are usually the kind that tries to undermine the faith of the readers.
Start with the gospel of John.
Here's a free digital one and a YouTube channel that will build your faith in God's word.

There is a link to a online free Concordance. You can look up any word in the bible and see the word it was translated from in the original language. It's really cool.

You just type in book and chapter and it takes you there then you read which verse you want to look up a word from and click on tools on that verse and then click the word and it tells you what they meant in Greek or whatever.

On this topic... Here is a real conversation that actually happened at my job.

BOY: You ever seen that passion of the christ movie?
ME: Nah, I didn't watch the movie. I read the book.
BOY: They made a book out of it?
ME: ...
...
...
The Bible?
BOY: Oh... Well now I feel stupid.

Just asking for some advice from you good people, I have just become a Christian. I want to purchase the bible. Is it true the King James is the best version?. Thank You.
The best version is the one that you can most readily understand. It is great that you have become a Christian. Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.

I been looking for a hard copy of the American Standard Version, 1901, (it is the claimed to be closest cousin to the KJV) but the search only retrieves the NASB version. Has its printing been discontinued?
