What are your thoughts on them? Do you have some or want some?
Would you date someone with tattoos? Do you think they are evil or okay for a Christian person to have?

Personally, I don't think I would get any. I am afraid that I would change my mind about getting one later on. I do find them attractive on men...as long as they are not evil things like the number 6 done 3 times, a skull, the enemy, or the name of another girl. I am interested in reading your thoughts on the subject.

So, my brother and sister have tattoos, but it is for stuff they like. My brother has the decepticon logo on his leg, and the “Till all are one” with the Allspark on his arm. My sister has a bit more, she has one that is quote, and she has one that is a butterfly, I think she has a lava lamp.

I don’t judge my siblings and love them, I honestly just don’t like pain, so that’s why I don’t have any tattoos, or my ear being pierced to be honest, I don’t like pain and I’m not really a makeup/jewelry person, I like a nice necklace, but that’s rare from me.

So I’m not into judging, like if you have “Satan is the best!” or “Pagan for life”, then I will be worried, but overall, nah it’s not worth fighting over, they were already brave enough to face the pain, lol.

And, it is one of the high-importance great-significance "turn-offs" for/of my prospective wife.

The moment I know that she has a tattoo - I am immediately not interested.

We can be friends - but, I seriously cannot imagine her ever being my wife.

What I mean by this is - I am not judging her for having a tattoo - but, based on certain personal principles, I am making the judgment that I do not want such a person for a wife. (i.e. - it is a 'preference')

I am a 'naturalist' with regard to the body. I do not believe in making unnecessary modifications to the body God gave us. And, I want my wife to have that view as well.

Nope wont have any. Theyre not ok to get as a christian. I dont condemn people tho who have them tho. I dont like it when guys have a lot of tats. Still my fiancee is a biker who is full of them.

I do not have tattoos. I do not honestly know if I would date a Lady with tattoos. I suppose the number and size, subject matter and visibility of the tattoos would go into my decision.

I do not think they are evil. I think this sort of thing would be between a Christian and God. I have friends and family members that have tattoos, and some of them are God fearing, loving Christians.

I have a birthmark on my shoulder, about where someone might want a tattoo.

Every now and then it comes up people are talking and showing their tattoos off.

If anyone asks me if I have any tattoos I'll say God gave me a tattoo.

Then I'll roll my sleeve up and show them my birthmark.

Minor quibble: The Bible does say a LOT about bathing.

Doesn't say a word about women shaving though, and that's cool. I never have figured out why they feel like they have to shave anyway. Seems like a lot of effort for no gain.

I can't imagine getting any image in the world that I would not be tired of in a while. Having a tattoo would be like singing the same song every day for the rest of my life. No thank you!

Scripture speaks about body markings as pagan practices to worship false gods.

Scripture also talks about us being a witness, living testimony, and our bodies should be a holy dwelling for the Spirit as the temple was in the OT.

With that being said I see if a Christian wanted a tattoo, it must honor God in some form or fashion. For example,


A tattoo like this would easily spark conversation about Jesus and his sacrifice for sin.

Of course, it also matters to the audience you want to focus on in ministry. A younger audience will be more acceptable. An older audience may at first be hesitant. Yes, this is shallow and judgemental but in leadership you are automatically held to higher standards. For example, I also do not see it to be unbiblical to drink alcohol. It is sinful to be drunk on alcohol. But seeing your pastor in a bar downing a beer or two could spark a lot of unnecessary controversy.

I suppose you must weigh the good vs the bad.

I do think it’s a matter of personal conviction and preference. The bible
Talks on Deuteronomy about marking your body on behalf of the dead, (a pagan religious tradition of the time). If you interpret or understand that to mean not marking your body for any reason then that is entirely your right to stand by that. It is not a matter for anyone to quibble over as we know this body is corruptible and temporal anyway and it is not a salvational issue. If your conscience condemns is, we shouldn’t do it however free others are, if we can do it to the glory of God as with all things, then who can condemn us? If we choose to live according to Jewish laws and ordinances such as not cutting the corners of our beards and not wearing mixed fibres and so on, thats fine, or if we see there is no good or evil in any “thing“ and can use a picture or verse for good then that is also fine. I don’t really judge a person for such things, they may have even had Bad images on them before getting saved. If Christ is not judging them who am I to condemn them. I would encourage any ungodly images or writing to be covered up if possible personally, but I really wouldn’t base a decision on a future spouse on if they have some ink on them or not

Yes I have dated men with tattoos, but I wasnt really interested in their tattoos or why they got them. They just happened to have them, it wasnt a reason to date anyone.

do I think they are evil. well depeneds what the are.
is it ok for a christian to have them, well, they are hard to remove, and if you are getting one you need to think why or what you are doing since its on you permanently, Ive seen example where people get them and full of spelling mistakes if they are words so unless you want to be funny or embarassed by them for the rest of your life, be careful what you allow!

some cultures have them and its a rite of passage eg samoan culture, but they didnt have books and writing, they just had their skin, me I prefer books. (with words and pictures)
They can be decorative or they can be gang related, which is more often than not, the case. So I think depends on what it is.

Not in the context of my statement - which was in regard to making modifications to the body - as I indicated.

Hair growth is natural. Grooming that hair is optional, but is not "altering" the body - only the hair - which will continue to grow (naturally, of course).

Cleaning the body is natural. Not cleaning the body is unhealthy.

I don't have any but I think a couple of small meaningul ones is ok. Esp if it is a scripture that helped you through a difficult time.
