the N.T. book of James which is a call to vital Christianity, 1st John, the gospel of John are excellent starters. for example, John 3:5 says, "verily verily, i say unto thee, except a man be born again, he CAN NOT enter the kingdom of God". if you are not b.a., become b.a. because the Holy Spirit will move into your life immediately & assist you understanding what you are reading.
Hi Rob. Every starting point probably has pros and cons. Your title says "Starting again." Are you familiar with the Bible? Ever read it before?
Yes I’ve done some reading. Not all of it though. I’ve picked it up in different places and eventually fizzled out. I just got a Cambridge wide margin and am wanting to start new and take lots of notes
I like to start at the beginning, but with the Bible, seeing as it is not just one book, but a collection of books, sixty six to be exact, starting at a different place would be fine. Many recommend the gospel of John as a starting point.

it is tough, but if you can, begin in Genesis and go forward.
much like you, i tried to do that a few times, got about 100 pages, and flamed out.
but, eventually, i stuck to it, and have now read the Bible all the way through multiple times...
The Gospel of John is a good starting point. Of the all the Gospels, it gives the best explanation of Jesus’s divinity. This is essentially to understand all of scripture.
Ahh, I see. You might try to find a program for reading through the Bible in a year. There are plenty out there and I'm sure you could find one online. That might keep you motivated.
Why not start in the beginning? Would you start reading any other book than the beginning?
Id recommend the gospel of John because it’s about who Jesus is and what Jesus has offered us who believe it’s actually a beginning point of Christianity

a John introduces us to a personal and intimate understanding of who Jesus Christ is and why he came it’s a great place to start in the book offering eternal life to the believer

Very definitely the Gospel of John. At the same time you can cross reference everything, to see what John says in relation to other Scriptures. Jesus said "as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness" so you can cross reference that to see what was meant.
IMO.......... Get a KJV, and start in the Book of John. Then study all the New Testament in order....Matthew to Revelation. The Gospel of John will give you a firm foundation of the Gospel of Jesus and the Christian Faith.
Pray each time for understanding a guidance. As for where in the Word, where ever you feel you should.
