Lately, my Spanish teacher has been telling me that I should start wearing skirts that cover my knees and preferably my ankles, too. My friend, whom is also very Christian, and I think that this is ridiculous. We believe that God doesn't really care what we are worshiping him in as long as we are worshiping him. We have both scavenged the Bible multiple times looking for evidence that shows that we should wear clothing that covers up our knees and ankles, but we can't find anything justifying my teacher's view. If there is anything in the Bible that says that we should wear skirts and not pants, please tell me.

Skirts vs. pants in general, no, and if that's all it is, no worries. But there is plenty in the Bible about not being the one that causes another believer to fall or struggle in sin, and if you're wearing pants that are too tight or too revealing, it may cause your male classmates to struggle.

Men (and ESPECIALLY young men) are attracted first to the visual, then the emotional, and many young men struggle with not going to the emotional and turning physical attraction to lust. Protect your body from becomming the object of lust and also protect your brothers in Christ from the struggle of lust.

A guy's perspective for you...

I wear a skirt or pants whenever the mood strikes me. Sometimes I just feel like dressing up a little.

Okay, trust me my parents would never let me out of the house wearing something that is too tight or too revealing. Thanks for your input.

Me too, yet my Spanish teacher and many others that I have talked to think that you should wear skirts no matter what mood you are in.

okay, good! i was just playing the other side of what she may have been thinking other than a "traditional" dress code for women.

Most men don't understand what women go through to look nice. They just see the finished product. Sometimes it's too much trouble to get all dressed up, so she leaves the house in jeans and a tshirt instead of a skirt and heels.

There's always going to be someone who has something to say about what someone else wears. There comes a time to know to not listen. Know in your heart how you feel about God and how much he loves you. And know it's not your job to have worry if boys or men are going to be lusting after you. There not to be running around lusting after you in the first place.

so you propose removing testicals of all men? because, by the nature of male makeup, men (and especially young men) are very visually stimulated, whether they want to or not...

that's not to excuse unchecked lustful thoughts, but it's something all too often heard, especially by young women wearing writing across their butt, that women wish men would quit ogling....there's a two way street to some extent...

Hello..as Christians we have many liberties if we live in God's grace. We are able to express ourselves however we desire in Christ. (Some like long skirts or pants...some short skirts and form fitting pants...
) The bible does qualify that you can do it, however, if it will cause another to stumble and sin then you may need to tone it down a little. For some woman that see another woman wearing a short skirt and tehy are new Christians this may lead them to believe that being risque in Christ is okay. It is all about the perception that you are trying to give. You don't have to be a prude, but, you don't have to be the town floosy either.

That is ridiculous as long as you aren't wearing something slutty or carrying yourself in a slutty way you are fine. I personally wear short skirts not so short they barely cover my butt but you will never see me in a skirt that goes below my knees. I prefer jeans to skirts though.

What's wrong with tight pants? All I wear is tight pants, lol.

I live in Scotland and go to a traditional boarding school and we guys wear kilts!!

I'd love so see some kilts; I think skirts are better, but it doesn't really concern me, lol.

Just wondering, did the people that do not like your clothes mention the fact that they did not think it was Christian? Or in any way was not pious? Because in general Hispanics (If your Spanish teacher is hispanic) are naturally very strict with clothing. Most Catholics are too.

I see no problem with shorter (moderately short, mind you) skirts, and jeans and a tee can be just as good-looking in the average teenage guy's view as a tight skirt (or sometimes more so, depending on how you present the skirt vs. jeans). Just dress like you want to, as long as you are reasonable.

Wear what you feel comfortable in, as long as you're not revealing all, it's fine. Have you asked why your Spanish teacher is so hung up on this?
