I grew up in a Christian family. My dad is a pastor and my mom was a stay at home mom, we lived in a small town out in the country. In high school I never smoked, got drunk, had sex (I didn't even date), or any other major misdemeanors. If you think I'm trying to be self-righteous, I'm not just keep reading.
Everyone sins, including myself but I never did any of these 'major sins' (even though all sins are equal). Now I'm in college and I'm having difficulty keeping my temper around some adults in the church. Even in my senior year of high school, I got called a 'sheltered' child by an adult in my church because I told my friends my beliefs that their actions were wrong. Sheltered? Ha! Because it's impossible to live without adultery and drugs I must never have been surrounded by it. How is it that the church can teach one thing but encourage the next? Why do they persecute kids who follow the law and label them immature? Jesus never taught that you had to fall into sin in order to reach adulthood.
I'm not condemning anyone who sinned before they got saved. I would just like to be treated with respect as well for not falling into temptation. I was around drugs and alcohol as a kid but I was always taught that they were a sin so I stayed away from them, that shouldn't make me any less of an adult. Why are there so many hypocrites in authority?
((Sorry about the grammar, I speed typed and didn't proofread))
