I need help. I am constantly praying and repeating my prayers. Like when I pray, I have to repeat what I say over and over again because I'm scared that God might think I am asking for A, when I am actually asking for B. You know? Like I'm scared that I didn't pronounce or say something wrongly, and God takes that as what I want when it isn't?

Also, when I pray, like, I sometimes think about something THAT I WOULDNT WANT TO PRAY FOR MY FAMILY, I don't know why I would think of that. What should I do?? I am also scared God might also take that as what I want in my prayer.

Ah...satan loves to trip us up! He knows that when Christians pray, a powerful communication line is put down that destroys what he is trying to accomplish. He is trying to confuse you..since confusion never comes from GOD. Paul tells us to 'come before GOD's throne (in prayer) BOLDLY!!!! We are His children..HE knows our very needs but wants us to communicate with Him and share our lives with Him. That is what real fathers's want from their sons and daughters. There is NO need keep repeating the same request during the same prayer session. God's ears are known to lean and listen in our direction, as King David tells us. GOD took you exactly as you are, Stl99...even your insecurities. He loves you and never complains about your mannerisms when you chat with Him. Do not get caught up in semantics and 'how to do this properly". Simply speak to JESUS as if He were sitting there beside you.
My aunt heard a conversation going on in her living room one night and realized her husband was not in bead. She tiptoed quietly and peeked around the corner, seeing my uncle sitting on the couch, having a conversation with Someone. HE said 'but Lord, I am scared and I worry about my family..." and then he nodded, as if someone were responding. My aunt never heard nor saw anyone else in the room, but she knew and felt it was JESUS Himself. My uncle died a few months later with cancer, but my aunt had a calmness about it that went beyond all her understanding.
Jesus simply wants you to share all your joys and concerns with HIM, period. Never apologize for stammering or not having the perfect articulation. JESUS knows and hears our cries, our good intentions, our hearts desires, etc. As you grow spiritually, this will not be a problem for you anymore.

Theres a lot of people like that. And I totally disagree with pwjRN. A lot of people feed desparetly they need to repeat things and worry they forget something. You talk about it to ur mum n dad because it does sound a little like obsessive compulsiveness. Its nothing to do with satan and a counsellor can help
Hugs

God knows what you need even before you ask for it in prayer. He also says that when we pray, we are NOT to "vainly repeat ourselves".. So your repititious prayer is unneeeded. Just ask once and leave it at that. :)

For once, I agree with prwrnJC. You don't need to repeat yourself a dozen times in prayer. God knows what you mean and what you need even if you do forget to mention it in prayer. :)

I agree with zoii that you may have some OCD going on. But I am baffled as to why she disagreed with pwrnJC's response, which IS full of truth.

Me too,
when I pray,
I don't feel that's a natural behavior
because in general I don't say to others
the name of Jesus Christ often you know...

Just pray to God like talking to a good friend. He is your heavenly father. if you have an earthly father that's not so good, know that God is not at all like that. He is everything a father should be. God isn't trying to trip you up or waiting to pounce if you say something wrong. Here's a scripture that should help.

Matthew 7:11New King James Version (NKJV)
[SUP]11 [/SUP]If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

God is saying that even in our sinful natures we love our children. That being so, how much better can God love and do good for his children.

Also here is a guideline for prayer. This isn't so much a prayer, though it certainly can be, as it is a guide to how to pray.
Matthew 6:5-13New International Version (NIV)
[h=3]Prayer[/h][SUP]5 [/SUP]“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. [SUP]6 [/SUP]But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. [SUP]7 [/SUP]And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]“This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
[SUP]10 [/SUP]your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Give us today our daily bread.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]And lead us not into temptation,[SUP][a][/SUP]
but deliver us from the evil one.[SUP][b][/SUP]’

As a guide I can pray the Lord's prayer for everything I need.

1.Our Father in Heaven Hallowed be thy name.
I start by praising God and blessing his holy name. This is worship and praise time.

2. Your kingdom come ,your will be done.
I proclaim God's will (his word) over every thing I think of. God you said that you would have all men top be saved, please draw my friend ----- into you to receive salvation. God you said for us to pray for the peace of Israel. Lord I pray for them, let their enemies be defeated before their eyes. So on and on.

3. Give us today our daily bread. Lord, you said you would supply all my needs according to your riches in Glory. I thank you and praise you for that. Lord you said that you are the bread of life, I pray for more of you in my life. This is your time to ask for all the provision you need.

4. Forgive us our debts as we also forgive our debtors. Lord please forgive me for-------. Lord I was angry with ------ I forgive her now and I'll apologize as soon as I can see her.

You get the idea.
