Hello everybody,

As we all know India is predominately a Hindu nation. There is a very small percentage of Christians in India. I wanted to know from your personal experience, if you were ever persecuted for being a Christian? Like in school, college, job or any other place.

My mother was given a very hard time at her job, back when we were in India. She was the only woman in her dept who also was a Christian. Her colleagues used to give her hard time because of that fact.

Looking forward to your responses.

Praying for revival in the entire land of India!!!

savedNblessed,

Yes I was mostly made fun of at school when I was younger for being a Christian and having morals.
But nothing like what I would term as persecution in the sense that many Millions of my Brothers and Sisters in Christ are suffering daily. One of the ministries I like to suppport finanically is Voice of The Martyrs. They reach out to the Presecuted Church in your Home Nation of India and others.

I WAS DEEPLY HATED BY MY CLOSE RELATIVES FOR ACCEPTING CHRIST.

IT HURTS MORE ,WHEN PEOPLE WHOM YOU LOVE THE MOST HATE YOU THE WORST.

BUT THE LOVE THAT I FOUND IN CHRIST FOR ME, JUST WIPES AWAY ALL THE TEARS LIFE GAVE ME.

GLAD TO BE THE DAUGHTER OF ALMIGHTY GOD AND BELOVED OF CHRIST.

BESIDES THIS I AM A CONVERT FROM HINDU RELIGION, AND WHEN I ACCEPTED CHRIST I KNEW VERY LESS ABOUT CHRISTIANITY ;I WAS JUST 17.

I HAD A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF KNOWING CHRIST. I DIDN'T KNEW CHRIST AS A LORD OR SAVIOR AT FIRST. FOR ME HIS FIRST IMPRESSION WAS OF A LOVING COMPASSIONATE COMPANION AND BEST FRIEND WHO UNDERSTOOD ME MORE THAN MY MOTHER AND FAMILY. I DREW CLOSER TO HIM THROUGH PRAYERS AND THE WORD OF GOD. THE CHURCH I USED TO GO WAS A PENTECOSTAL.I LEARNT ABOUT THE SAVING POWER OF BLOOD OF CHRIST AND THE WORK OF CHRIST ON THE CROSS NEARLY AFTER 3 YEARS AFTER I HAD RECEIVED BAPTISM. SADLY I WAS NEVER PROVIDED ANY BIBLE CLASS BY THE CHURCH, HAD TO LEAN ON GOD TO TEACH ME EVERYTHING. WAS VERY TOUGH INDEED. BESIDES THIS MY FATHER IS AN ATHEIST AND A COMMUNIST,HE HATED ME A LOT AND STILL HATES ME. I USED TO PRAY FOR HIM IN THE BEGINNING ,CONTINUED TO PRAY FOR 5 OR MORE YEARS AND NOW I GAVE UP. YOU CAN'T HELP A PERSON WHO DOESN'T WANT TO RECEIVE ANY HELP AND HAS SHUT THE DOOR OF HIS HEART FOR GOD. NOW I HATE ATHEIST MORE THAN MY FATHER HATES ME.I HAVE ONLY ONE FATHER NOW, OUR HEAVENLY FATHER. AND I AM VERY HAPPY IN HIM.

A few years ago I had some friends involved in outreach and evangelism on college campuses in India.
When working in one particular area, they did tell me they were physically threatened, and there was a lot of physical damage done to the local church.

I understand your pain and I understand your agony too. I have few family members in my extended family who are like that. But you know what God has taught me, TO LOVE THEM. I don't have to share Jesus' gospel with them. I was asked JUST TO LOVE THEM. See it's not us who chooses Him, it's Him who chooses us and I'm sure you have experienced that yourself very well. So no matter how hard you will try to open that shut door of your father's heart, if Jesus is not willing, it won't open.
I'm saying this from personal experience that for me it is easier to love than hate. And I know this is what Jesus expects from me too.
I've prayed for you dear :-)

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't most of Indias statesmen religious Hindus? Not to mention you can't really kill cows there even if you aren't of that particular religion.
Yes you are absolutely right and that's what makes Christians lives harder there. Hence the thread.

Whether government is affiliated to some religion or belief system or not, that is not the point of this thread. It is bad Christian persecution and in a secular gov't if it based on the notion of secularism that says keep your religion private. There could be possible hunting down, slaughter, and other means of violence against Christians. Besides governments cannot save and all humans have vices, so don't trust your life to the government because it will fall in due time. Also have leaders who are in the government does not make it opinionated. In government there already are opinions and people can be very opinionated, which can be a good or bad thing.

Government IS affiliated with religion, it is the number one tool of the rulers of this world being used to lead mankind into rebellion against God. Many are the paths to destruction are there not? Governments can be against each other and still be part of the overall plan.

All Christians are persecuted in one way or another. That's part of the plan too. It may be by governmental authority, or family, or society, or self, or spiritually, but make no mistake the enemy is out to harm us each and every one in whatever way they can. That's why we must cover each other in prayer, and I do pray for you and your situation.

Sometimes Christians are the ones doing the persecuting

Well, it doesn't matter which govt is in ruling, persecution happens regardless like some of you mentioned. In India, the level on which persecution is done, is quite higher. Like burning churches while people have gathered there for Sunday morning service. Or on smaller level like my mother was. One particular incident that spoke to me so personally was of Graham Staines. Any of you heard of him?

Actually, there will come a time when Christians in Name Only (CINOs) will persecute Christians who are not just Christians in name only but are the real thing. So that is true. But there are also other factions who do not have this distinction, like Muslim extremist, Hindu extremists, and militant Maoists.

Once again, No True Scotsman.

You might be surprised how many Scotsman might go against Christians soon. There might come a time when Scots who believe they are true will do these acts but hopefully not soon. As for the true scotsman reference, this thread has to do with persecution not true Scotsmans.
