Three brothers lived in 2 rooms of a house. One brother had his own room, with much space. Another brother had his own room, with a little less space than the first brother, but a lot indeed. The third brother had the second brothers closet as a room.
The father of the brothers went away and said, ''I am going away a long trip. When I come back, I want your rooms in order.''
The brothers all said okay.
While the father was gone, the first brother threw a party and invited the second brother along. The third brother stayed in his closet, and cleaned it up right away.
The whole time the two brothers partied, and the one brother called his father every now and then.
By the time the father came back, the two brothers did not have time to clean up their rooms. They had big rooms, and so, they had too big of a mess to clean up, and couldn't do it, they tried to get the one brother to help, but there was not enough time, the father returned.
The one brother had his closet clean when the father came back.
The father said to his good son, ''you have obeyed me, you are free go where you please, all of my inheritance is yours.''
But to the two rebellious sons he said, ''Your brother did not have as much space as you did, but he kept what he did have clean, but you had more space than he did, and all of it is a mess! You are grounded, and you will have no part of my inheritance.''
May Jesus give you ears to hear.
