Boy, I’m realizing that back in the day this site had a lot of outgoing members from all around the world. We all learned a lot from each other. These days it’s just too many Americans here.

Where are all of you from the other parts of the world? Please come back! The world doesn’t only revolve around Trump.

Hey @Texasgal,

I am from Ca-m€-roon (wrongly written because of an order that was passed not to talk of the country on social media)
A small place of about 26mill people, just a little above the equator.
We are hospitable though the high high poverty rate.
Pray for us El€ctions are coming and black guys with warcharts are at every round about.

Here is why it will be difficult for many to stay.
- About 2 days in the group someone said something about refusing that blacks or African should reach out to him on a matchmaking site. I was heart broken because I felt rejected. Many rebuked him but on many sites it is many times the case. Even with Christians.

We had a missionary here. Who really brought many to Christ. He was strict in righteousness. But guess what made him leave Cameroon, His son fell in love with a Cameroonian and he got very angry and left with his son.

if you don't have the love of Christ embedded in you, You flee from such people.
- cultural differences
Seriously I don't get many things that are said here but I have discovered very good people who have the patience to explain each time. Never getting tired. I appreciate you guys

I wanted a friend to join the chat but she doesn't get what is said. she would say "Edith ah no di hear me thing way Dem di tok ya"

Wow. I just googled "Does (that country) have an order to not talk about it on social media?" I found out soooo much.

In the USA we think China is very restrictive about these things. Apparently it's not the only one. (That country) takes the cake. My sympathy.

I miss the days of chat when I could hear different voices and accents from around the world. There was someone from Scotland I especially enjoyed listening to. I would just have the live chat going in the back like music, and go about whatever I was doing at home.

I do think there are different kinds of selfishness/being conceited, and when we don't have ways to learn about people in other situations, I think most people can become too focused on their immediate surroundings and start thinking it's the only way that people live.

I'm truly glad you are here, @Edith.

With all the threads we have here discussing the United State's political state and what should or should not be done about it, we all too quickly forget how much freedom we really have in being able to even discuss such things -- without being arrested or executed.

Here is why it will be difficult for many to stay.

I admire anyone who attempts to participate in something that is not their own native culture or language. I'm sorry for the prejudice that you have experienced. I think all of us have also gone through this in one way or another, whether about physical or cultural characteristics, or beliefs.

I can't even imagine trying to keep up with everything going on here, especially the humor.

It's fascinating to me that humor has its own flavor in every country, and sometimes is not easily translated or explained. But I am so glad there are people here willing to try.

@Edith (and anyone else who doesn't understand,) please keep asking when something isn't clear.

Unfortunately, sometimes words fail us, but we will keep trying! ❤️

My guess is that it's because the world is in upheaval right now both culturally and economically. Back in the day, the world in general was very stable and boring.

???

The world has never been very stable and boring as long as I have been here.

People were not cutting off friends and not talking to family members because they disagreed with their politics 15 years ago. Governments like in the UK were not putting people in jail for posts they made on facebook. France and Germany were not wanting to send troops to war in Ukraine. I could go on.

Those specifically, no. But there were other sources of anxiety and unrest back then. And there will be other sources when the current ones are gone.

This reminds me of a guy I met at work last month. It sounded like he was hopping between two other languages and English when speaking with his friends, so I asked how many languages he spoke. He said 5 (cool!) and asked me how many I speak. I only speak English, and he responded, "Oh, so you don't speak any then. English doesn't count." SHEESH! lol I guess it's time to get back on Duolingo.

In the good old days I remember being deployed to both Balkan and the ME. We actually did send troops back then. It was no beating around the Bush lol.

(I know it was Clinton during Balkan but the joke doesn’t work that good for that name. However, there are other jokes lol).

World Economic Forum Report Warns of Escalating Global Instability
Article dated Jan. 2025
https://thefinancialanalyst.net/202...eport-warns-of-escalating-global-instability/

"....The report, which draws insights from a broad spectrum of 900 global professionals, reveals a chilling trajectory. While only 11% anticipate a stable global environment in the next two years, that figure drops to a mere 8% when looking a decade ahead. Such projections are alarming and highlight the necessity for immediate, coordinated efforts to tackle these escalating risks. Policymakers, economists, and leaders around the world must prioritize addressing environmental threats, geopolitical conflicts, and technological disruptions if we are to safeguard our collective future. ....At the heart of the instability is the rise in geopolitical tensions. Territorial disputes, trade wars, and a surge in nationalism are fracturing international collaboration. The ongoing conflicts in Eastern Europe, coupled with disputes in the South China Sea and escalating trade friction between the United States and China, are fostering an atmosphere of distrust. As countries increasingly focus on their self-interests, the opportunity for collaborative solutions to pressing issues like climate change and global health crises diminishes. ..."

The US has a strong military. France and Germany, not so much. Thank you for your service.

Gen Z is grappling with global chaos—here's how they're coping

The world has been about to topple since I was born. And I hear it was even more unstable before then - Vietnam, hippie movement, all that.

And people have been putting out articles like that since I was born. After a while you kinda get burnt out on it all.

Maybe this one is right. Maybe I've heard people crying wolf so long that I just gave up looking for it. Maybe the wolf is already here and I missed it.

But statistically...
