I miss the days of chat when I could hear different voices and accents from around the world. There was someone from Scotland I especially enjoyed listening to. I would just have the live chat going in the back like music, and go about whatever I was doing at home.
I do think there are different kinds of selfishness/being conceited, and when we don't have ways to learn about people in other situations, I think most people can become too focused on their immediate surroundings and start thinking it's the only way that people live.
I'm truly glad you are here,
@Edith.
With all the threads we have here discussing the United State's political state and what should or should not be done about it, we all too quickly forget how much freedom we really have in being able to even discuss such things -- without being arrested or executed.
I admire anyone who attempts to participate in something that is not their own native culture or language. I'm sorry for the prejudice that you have experienced. I think all of us have also gone through this in one way or another, whether about physical or cultural characteristics, or beliefs.
I can't even imagine trying to keep up with everything going on here, especially the humor.
It's fascinating to me that humor has its own flavor in every country, and sometimes is not easily translated or explained. But I am so glad there are people here willing to try.
@Edith (and anyone else who doesn't understand,) please keep asking when something isn't clear.
Unfortunately, sometimes words fail us, but we will keep trying!
