I had it for a long time. Mine was pretty bad as well.
The causes and severity can determine whether or not simple remedies can have an affect. Breathing straps worn across the nose or bite guards can be effective for some people. They were ineffective for me.
If such attempts don't work then the doctor may prescribe a CPAP mask. This will require being fitted for one.
I was unable to use the mask as I couldn't stand how it felt. Others wear them no problem.
In the most severe cases surgery may be an option (depending on your overall health and insurance). This is what I went with.
It's quite the recovery but I felt it still preferable to the mask, personally.
Once you find something that works you'll notice the difference when you sleep.

Thank you so much. I’m hoping I can find out he right one. I was called and told me they will send out an device to my home. She didn’t specify what it is, or any more information. For your surgery was it really bad?

In my case surgery required three different things to be done in one surgery. So that upped my need for recovery time. Also I was on dialysis when I went through this. And I got a bad cold right as I was almost recovered. Plus a complication during recovery.
So for me it was a long and rough recovery time. You may not require as much to be done, if you're able to get it. No solid food the first week and you basically have a major sore throat for a few weeks. But if it works you no longer have sleep apnea and all the concerns that go with it.
In the long run, despite all the issues I had, it was worth it.

don't know if we can help or not, but all of the info that we have been exposed to about this subject,
alluded to obesity - we could be wrong, but the media has expressed it in this way to the world at large,
and the vids that we have watched have shown us that the majority of people who NEED this APPARIDICE,
are 'obese' and in very ill health...
when we see these vids on/in the media, it truly breaks our hearts...

I’m glad you don’t have it anymore. Sorry the recovery was so long! Thanks for the advice and information!

Yes over weight. I have a strict diet and work out plan

Been using a CPAP machine for about 10 years.

I’m not close to being obese. I’m athletic and in reasonably good health.

Took less than a week to get use to. I have the nasal pillows kind.

Nothing whatsoever to be worried about unless you don’t get one.
By constantly and mostly unconsciously waking yourself up because you stop breathing, your oxygen levels get low, putting stress on your organs, and not letting your body get proper rest.

Nowadays you can do a sleep study with a kit they mail you to determine the correct setting for the machine.

Get it. You’ll be fine.

Yes i have it.. Some nights where bad..

Losing weight helps.. You want to remove excessive fat tissue around your neck..

Sometimes the problem will not be helped by losing weight.. That's when you may need to get a mask and a pressure air pump to keep your airways open while you sleep.. I have not got to the point of needing that kind of assistance thanks be to God.. I have heard from others that it is a hard thing to get used to..

No amount of worry will help you in this situation.. Don't waste your emotional energy.. Just take the steps you are directed to take by your doctor / specialist.. Do your best and leave the rest in the Hands of the LORD..

Obesity can be a factor but is not necessarily the cause. This is why my surgery required three separate areas to be operated on. I had my tonsils removed, a deviated septum fixed and extra skin removed in the back of my mouth. Even during times when I lost weight I still had problems with sleep apnea.
Causes of sleep apnea can be varied and at times losing weight may have no effect at all.

Thank you! I just know I gained extra weight. I was thinking I need to loose weight. It may not help persay but still good for me
