New Age tends to mix a variety of religions, including Hinduism. By modern day standards and practices its fitting to label it as New Age, the catchall for all "spirituality" religions. Just the same way some words had one meaning in the past and another meaning in the present.
I am very conversant with the term and their practice of co-opting and adapting other traditions to suit Western audiences and tastes.
And the majority aren’t practicing Kundalini in its true form. You need to be adept and it’s usually the domain of those with an ability to traverse the spirit realm and Tibetan monks. Western audiences address chakras and Reiki. They’re at the lower end of the scale and that’s best. The other could inevitably lead to demonic infestation or harassment.
Having practiced both, I can attest that ignorance is best. My reconciliation to God came at a price. And I wouldn’t wish the battle that ensued on anyone. It took a year a spiritual wrangling and warfare before I was free.
It can be particularly harmful for those with gifts of discernment. Their ability to see into the spirit realm is greater than most. That was probably why much of it came with ease. I didn’t realize my danger at the time. But God did.
