'THE WORD' (part 2)
He will begin by spoon-feeding us His Word as we start reading it for ourselves. We need to take the initiative and ask God for the grace to read it. You can almost hear the Lord speaking a continual – personal message into your spirit as you read it… filling you with His gentle presence. A friend of mine once said he didn’t know what people meant when they said they’d felt the presence of God touch them in a tangible way. Well, you will; All of us will soon, if that’s what we truly want. We need increase of faith in the reality of Jesus, and desire for His beauty (see Ps. 27:4). This world is passing away, as well as its lusts. (See 1John 2:17). We don’t want to get burnt up with it, and we are with it if we are dependent upon its unholy spiritual diet. Being in it doesn’t necessarily mean we are subject to its lifestyles and judgments. Just look at Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
The Lord’s meek and gentle presence is His most powerful indication of who He is to us, and what He’s like. The following is subjective, so take it with a grain of salt. I believe I have felt heaven as fully as if I were there with Jesus bodily. And this will become more common for us, especially now, as I believe the Lord’s return will soon become clearly imminent! Meaning, at a certain point, all the pieces will be in place for Him to come at any time… which exact day, hour, and moment is only known to the Father. Don’t believe the enemies’ lie that “He’s not coming back”, or that His’ power and presence aren’t for today. For this is exactly what the enemy is saying and has been saying all along.
When the Word of God dwells in you richly, your faith abounds into such hope that the truth of Hebrews 11:1 can flip you inside out, to see Jesus where He dwells inside you. I’ve literally seen heaven manifest in the world around me in the spirit realm, sparkling on my flesh, and standing around as a tangible cloud. Like I said, this is subjective. I’m sharing this firstly: because I know it to be true, and secondly to ‘whet your appetite’. When God opens the heavens over our own personal life in a special way, our spirits can be opened up to His tangible presence. He has done this time and again for me. I attribute this to His grace to respond to the hunger He gives for Him, and finding Him through the absorption of His Word. In this last month I’ve experienced His reality and closeness more intensely than I ever have before. I need to point out that our lives as Christians aren’t primarily about special manifestations of the Lord, but rather about seeking to know and love Him- and to do His will.
Many people throughout the course of history have experienced God actually showing up. So don’t discount the supernatural; but don’t adhere to the world’s definition of it, or depend on their depictions/interpretations of biblical events in movies and such. Don’t even worry about my own subjective descriptions. Just read about the many such accounts in scripture yourself - and that of the many saints down through the centuries. Just be hungry for the presence of the Lord for yourself.
The Bible was not only written as a precise record of all that it contains… or only to be a historical document… or as just a reference to Old and New Testament law, and prophesy, and grace: It was also written as an eternal love-gift to us.
The Word of God will always continue to confound the world and its wisdom. This eternal love-gift has its purpose for you personally, to be a window of heaven opened. The opening up of the spirit man to this love-gift will cause us to engage with Jesus as ‘THE WORD OF GOD’. For Jesus wants to appear in our spirits- to interact with us- whether we are conscious of Him or not; This a most beautiful thing, like a marriage dance - which lasts for as long as we abide with Him… until the day He takes us unto Himself.
The Bible is kind of a Zacchaeus-sycamore-tree situation. We climb into its branches - because its height gives us a vantage by which to see Jesus. The amazing thing is that the God of the universe then comes to us where we are. All we have to do is to wait for Him there. This is essentially fruit from the tree of life, printed on the leaves (its pages) for the healing of the nations. (See Rev. 22:2). The stomach of our soul is fed by it to receive a greater capacity to be able to digest its’ stronger meat. Yet for those of us who are as babes- which I consider myself to be- we just need to act upon our hunger for the sincere milk of the Word. I find myself needing to become as a little child over and over again in this way. Newborn babes don’t need to understand the Word, but just to feed on it.
Jesus does not want us to be stuck in these fallen bodies longer than need be. The heavenly window called The Holy Bible… as I have stated, is becoming, and will increasingly become our most vital avenue of access to Him. In these coming days it will become all the access people will have to Him: literally as a river of life – readily available – yet in a very dry and very thirsty land. We will need to learn how to eat and drink of it ourselves, and how to give it as food and drink to others. There is a basic level of dedication to this that the body of Christ has been steadily falling away from for a long time. Now many of us have become numb to our hunger pains, because we have been taken up with many other things. If we don’t hunger and thirst after the Scriptures – it is because we are not partaking of them; and because we are walking in fear through this valley of decision and death in the wrong direction.
The Bible isn’t something we have to make-do with until heaven. It is an avenue for heaven itself to begin to trickle down into us, as we go on holy pilgrimages through its pages. I want to clarify that it’s not all about heaven: it’s all about Jesus. For without Him Heaven would quite frankly suck! I don’t want to be obscene; but I’m sure there’s someone reading this who might not be listening to what I’ve been pouring out concerning the reality of God’s Word, the Bible.
May the Savior withdraw the enemy from your heart “as poison is drawn from a wound”. (L.O.T.R.’s reference). “To make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,” (see Eph. 5:26). “…By His stripes we are healed,” (Is. 53:5c). Jesus’ blood covers not only the words in red, but everything from Genesis- to Job- to Revelation. This makes me think of Aslan’s mention in ‘The Lion, the Witch, and the wardrobe’, by C.S. Lewis, of what he terms ‘the deeper magic from before the dawn of time’.
The Bible is our means of joy and spiritual sustenance until the day we see the Lord. This is His anointed book friends; there is none like it, and there is none like Him.
“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 1Cor. 13:12
‘Where Jesus is, ‘Tis Heaven’ (Chorus by C.F. Butler – 19th century):
“Oh, hallelujah, yes, ‘tis heaven! ‘Tis heaven to know my sins forgiven; on land or sea, what matter where? Where Jesus is, ‘tis heaven there.”
