Has anyone done the Myers-Briggs personality test? If, so, was it revealing? Was it helpful?
I discovered that I was an INFJ personality. I found it very helpful in understanding myself.
Any thoughts?

used to look into stuff like that, not much anymore since more and more following Spirits direction. Seems to correlate with knowing Him more than desiring to know about the old me, YMMV.

No, and I wouldn't be caught dead taking this test; it's satanic. Katharine Cook Briggs was a student of Carl Jung. Anyone who has done a little research knows Jung was as unChristian as they come. We aren't called to analyze ourselves but to live to Christ.

Howdy Aussie and welcome to the forum.

That personality test has come up a lot here. Here's the general breakdown of responses:

A: "Oh yes, I took that test. Turns out I'm a (list of four letters) which means I (have these personality traits) and that is just SO me!"

B: "Nah, I don't need any personality test to tell me who I am. I am me. I can't be quantified by an internet question list. Might as well do those personality quizzes in girls' magazines." (This one is my reply.)

C: "That thing is OF THE DEVIL! You should repent for taking that personality test, you SINNER!!!" (You've already seen that one.) :P

By the way I see you have been posting mostly in the Bible Discussion Forum. That is... unfortunate. Ostensibly that is a place to discuss Bible topics, but it has sadly degenerated into an arena for people to beat each other over the head with the Bible and claim "I'm more spiritual than all of you and you're all not real Christians."

I invite you to talk more here in Miscellaneous and Singles forums. (Don't let the name throw you - Singles has evolved into the default chill place for people, married and single, to chat here.) Misc. and Singles get a bit of seepage from Bible Discussion Forum, but generally we're pretty friendly people to talk to.

That's educational, but the question was have you done it. BTW, your representation of what I said is false and dishonest; so much for your credibility.

Like I said, I'm with the B response. My personality can't be put in a box with a checklist of traits.

I think you can take those as a baseline to how you have been functioning in the world but with curiosity rather than justification on how you act around people….. Just because mine indicates I’m an introvert and whatever else doesn’t mean that’s where God wants me to stay at. Understand that as you grow in the Christian faith God very well may change your “personality” God is very much about dynamic character transformation. This test is a static test of where your character and personality is present at that moment and what your natural bends are. God likely wants to smooth out some extreme sharp areas and sharpen other dull areas of your personality to be conformed to what Jesus’ Meyers Briggs would have looked like… This is done through Him in a community of believers.

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.
Can’t you see for yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you— unless you actually fail the test?

Lamentations 3:40
Let us examine and test our ways, and turn back to the LORD.

Psalm 119:59
I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.

Yes, I've taken a couple of them. I have a friend that is a family counselor and she needed it for her studies. She asked my husband and I later to take a different one with a similar idea but it was totally Christian based. I learned my hubby and I have very similar responses to these tests. IDK they say opposites attract but we seem very similar in personality. My parents also took the tests and found out they are opposite and they fight like cats and dogs rofl. The are kind of like the Honeymooners. lol Not sure how much the tests helped other than that, but it was interesting.

I took a test to find out where I was from, and the result was Rivendale, but I'm pretty sure there are a few people
from Mordor that chat here.

I think INTJ and ENTJ are the best. If you are INFJ already, you're probably only a few questions away from being the best in your category. Just try to be more objective and truthful. Less of those pesky feelings and subjectivism.

It's good to alternate, depending on whether the job application needs you to be inventive, or some sort of "leader" type.

However, like Doomsayer speaketh, I don't believe this is really a Christian test, although as Lynx reminds, it's best not to go down the path of invoking hell-fire and brimstone unnecessarily.

I only do it to trick potential employers into thinking I'm the type of employee that they want me to be. Play stupid games...

Pretty sure you were taking a very different kind of test there...

Although a certain forum number would probably say that test is equally satanic. :P

Did you see the thread on Bingo (the game)? .:giggle:

I'm not endorsing Doreen Virtue; this is strictly for educational purposes. I also know the ignorant and bull-headed won't be persuaded; but for the rest, check it out.

Was that in bdf? Either I missed it or it has been so long ago that I forgot.

It's "Christmas Trees are Pagan" in July thread. Figures, they're selling fall at the Dollar Tree might as well get our pagan Christmas argument started early too.
